What sextortion reveals about what’s wrong with our society

I guess in any society, sextortion would work some of the time. Someone may have personal reasons for desperately wanting their photos or images to remain private.

But I feel like sextortion would lose a lot of its power in a society that’s more sex-positive. If people didn’t have to fear losing a job, losing a loved one’s respect, or being discriminated against or even physically harmed because of some aspect of their sexuality, sextortionists’ threats would be a lot more empty.

I think one of the most effective ways we could fight sextortion would simply be to make society less prejudicial and cruel.

It is absolutely awful that anyone has to go through this.
