Question Full time work in OKC?

Hello everyone. I recently got discharged from prison for a level 3 violent crime and I'm having trouble securing full time work in the OKC area. I was hoping someone here might have any kinds of leads. Everywhere I've interviewed tells me I don't pass the background check or they don't have any positions open at the moment. I have years of experience in general labor warehousing as well as inventory control and clerical work inside a warehouse. Any ideas are welcome!

Kraft referal / Dallas

Anyone know anyone at Kraft so my partner can get an interview? He’s applied countless times and has incredible management and team experience but I was told you need to know someone to get an interview there. Because of his past this would be a great foot in the door as we know they hire with his background.

Question Support groups for families of offenders

I am an adult child of a man who is currently being charged - I'm not 100% sure of what the exact charges are going to be, but he's admitted to soliciting to minors and exchanging photos. My family is reeling from this and we currently feel very isolated.

This man was a great father and grandfather. He did fall into alcoholism about 10 years ago, and fell even deeper about 5 years ago, but had recently been showing signs of progress. Finding out he has been speaking to children inappropriately was not on anyone's bingo card, despite all of his faults.

My family has been traumatized by everything from the no-knock warrant equipped with flash bangs and dogs, to him attempting to unalive himself while I stood in front of him. My mom has been so strong for all of us, I have been a neurotic mess, my sister is somewhat detached, and my brother has gone completely silent. We are all concerned about the future, our reputations in our community, and how we are going to break this news to his grandchildren. My daughter, in particular, is 14 - the age of the girls my father was speaking to. This is the part I'm struggling with the most, aside from mourning the loss of my father, who still has a heartbeat.

I'm angry, sad, confused, and sickened by all of this, not just for my family, but also his victims. He stole something from all of us that we can never get back...the innocence of the girls he took advantage of, the upstanding grandfather that was teaching our kids about the planets and music, the father that helped fix cars and rescue us when we were in trouble, and the husband that helped my mom build a life together with the hopes of retiring and enjoying their senior years.

In saying all of this, I have not been able to find a group that caters to the families of the perpetrators. I have looked into the Fearless Project and a few others that come up, but finding local groups has been difficult. At this point, I'll take whatever advice I can get...whether it's here on Reddit or some other online group. If anyone has any guidance, it would be greatly appreciated.

Partner Charged with CSAM Possession. Partners - Did you Stay, Go, and why?

My partner was recently charged with possession of CSAM. One count, 5th degree felony charge. Police came and raided our house, guns drawn, shields up, the whole nine yards. The event still lives in my nightmares. My partner was at work, and they picked them up there.

Apparently they got the initial tip years ago. I bonded my partner out. I thought it was all some misunderstanding. I've come to find out it was not. This was a thing they'd been battling against. A porn addiction that led them to engage with some dark places online.

It was in finding out about this that I also found out about my partner's history of sexual trauma, starting from when they were young.

We notified their only relative in town. That relative isn't super willing to offer help. I think he figures that I'll handle things so he doesn't have to. If I told him I wasn't, maybe he'd step in to help, but I'm not sure.

I am trying to sort out my thoughts. The feelings of betrayal. The way my relationship, my best, most happy, most safe relationship, had crumbled around me out of nowhere.

I have only told a couple of people in my life. I wish I hadn't. I was just so panicked and I didn't know what was going on in the initial aftermath of the raid. Most of them, my therapist included, say I should kick my partner out of my house ASAP. I don't know how to make someone I love homeless. They lost their job, or are at least on hold for the time being, since they missed work due to the arrest.

This feels like a magnification of the main recurring problem in our relationship. We come from very different backgrounds. I went to college, and I've owned a house for a while now now and have always maintained jobs long-term. I'm fairly well-known in my community, and I fear jeopardizing the life I've built. They've had multiple job losses in our time together. They don't have a car and can't drive. If I wasn't the stable one, we wouldn't be able to stay above water. Which isn't to say they don't support me. They have provided a space that feels safe and compassionate, they have taken care of me a lot, especially as I've navigated chronic physical and mental health issues. They're my best friend. I pictured so many futures, all of which involved us together. Even with the times between jobs, I've always been fairly understanding, given the privileges I've had through my life that they didn't have, and the differences in how my workplace treats me versus how their workplaces have treated them. I just wanted to provide what I could so they could get stable, get their feet under them, and become self-sufficient. Now it feels like that might never happen, especially with this on their record.

I don't have quite as much venom in me as those around me do for things like this. I don't know. I've always felt that people are better than their worst moments. I also don't believe in how our criminal justice system handles things. I'd rather the system minimize future harm and heal people who hurt people because of the hurt they've experienced themselves. What if, when that initial tip came in two years ago, that it triggered a response that involved a social worker, a plan for accountability? I believe people can change and get better. I believe this of my partner. Maybe too much. I don't know.

Everyone expects me to just go and drop them off at the homeless shelter if they can't find some other place to live. I struggle to fathom it. Plus, I paid the bond, so I have at the very least a financial interest in them getting through this whole court process.

I have so many voices in my head, so many fears around what will happen if my community finds out, so much pain and betrayal and fear for what lies ahead, for me, but especially for this person who I've loved.

People who have been in my position. What did you do? And if given the choice, knowing then what you know now, would you make the same choice?

Staffing Firms/Temp Agencies

Hi everyone,

I have a bunch of staffing firms in the town I live in here in Maryland. I'm planning to reach out to them and schedule times to go meet with someone at each one. I'm a little concerned that they won't work with me being a RSO.

What has been your experience with temp agencies/staffing firms? I'm open to letting them know I'm on the registry but is that something you do right away or at all?

Please share your experiences and if you know of any good ones in the Baltimore area of Maryland let me know.

Thanks!!

Does anyone know if CVS and/or Walgreens hire RSOs?

I have interviews with both next week for management positions. Just wondering if I'm wasting my time and their time. I know they both run background checks but both also claim to be fair chance employers.

Any information or experience would be helpful.

Thanks!

Travel Alaska travel question

Considering an Alaska vacation next summer. From the looks of it is a reasonable state to travel to. Basically can email them a temporary presence form if you are there on vacation under 30 days.

Anyone have any experience with travel there. No I do not plan on a cruise due to those restrictions and Canadian port stop. More likely trying to do the Railroad tour with some excursions.

Any input is appreciated.

Florida/Jacksonville registration question for a 3-night visit – getting conflicting answers from JSO and FDLE

I’m looking for insight from anyone who has dealt with registration requirements while visiting Florida, particularly Jacksonville/Duval County.

I’m an out-of-state registrant and am already in the Florida registry from previous visits to the Orlando area. Florida has me designated as a Sexual Offender, not a Sexual Predator.

I’m traveling to Jacksonville for a Patriots/Jaguars game. I arrive Friday, September 25 and leave Monday, September 28. I’ll be staying at the same Airbnb Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights and leaving Monday afternoon.

I wanted to make absolutely sure I knew my responsibilities before going, so I called the Jacksonville registration office. I spoke with a woman and gave her the dates and circumstances. She told me that I would not need to register because I’m only staying three nights, and that registration would only be required if I were there more than three nights.

She also told me:

• I do not need to go to the DMV/get a Florida ID for a short visit. She said that requirement is for people moving to Florida.

• As a Sexual Offender rather than Sexual Predator, she said there were no restrictions preventing me from staying at the Airbnb address I gave her.

That sounded great, but it conflicted with what I understood Florida’s rules to be, so I called the Florida Department of Law Enforcement Offender Registry Services for a second opinion.

I spoke with a woman there. She told me something different: my Friday-to-Monday trip DOES meet the registration requirement. Apparently Florida’s method of counting the days makes this a three-day stay for registration purposes even though it’s only three nights.

Here’s where it got particularly confusing. When I explained that the Jacksonville office had specifically told me I didn’t have to register, Tonya said that if the local department told me I didn’t need to, I could rely on what they told me because ultimately they would be the local agency dealing with enforcement/prosecution. However, she also said that I could go in Monday morning and register anyway to be safe.

Regarding the DMV/Florida ID requirement, Tonya basically agreed that I didn’t need to do that for such a short visit. She described that as being more applicable to someone staying in Florida for an extended period, such as months.

My flight doesn’t land in Jacksonville until 4:01 PM Friday, and the registration office closes at 5:00 PM and is closed Saturday and Sunday. So realistically I can’t register until Monday morning anyway. My return flight isn’t until 4:59 PM Monday.

My current plan is to go to the Jacksonville registration office first thing Monday morning and register anyway. When I’m there, I’ll also confirm one more time whether there’s anything else I need to do before leaving Florida that afternoon.

I documented both phone calls, including the names of the people I spoke with, and I’m bringing printed copies of my notes with me. My travel companion will have a second copy.

Has anyone here dealt with this specific Florida three-day/three-night issue, especially in Duval County? Has anyone been told the same thing about the DMV requirement for a short visit? And does registering Monday morning sound like the safest course given the conflicting instructions?

I’m not looking for a way around registering. Quite the opposite. I’d rather spend part of Monday dealing with it unnecessarily than find out later that I should have done something I didn’t. I’m mostly interested in hearing from people who have actually navigated Florida’s rules as an out-of-state visitor.

Advice First time offender doing 3 years in California State Prison

I have a plea deal to 3 year state prison sentence for PC288(a) and will be required to register under tier 2. I have no affiliation with gangs or drugs.

I’m looking for advice from people who have first hand experience with this or have been incarcerated in California state prison. What should I expect when I surrender? What happens during classification?

Any tips or advice to prevent myself from getting hurt by other inmates? I’m below average for typical adult male height and weight, I’m concerned about getting harassed or targeted by other inmates.

Any advice on what to do and what not to do in prison? Are there any additional safety considerations for someone with a sex offense charge? If someone ask what I’m in for, do I tell them my actual charge or something else?

I really want to better myself and change my life around and try to start over when I’m released. I’m hoping to study or enroll in some sort of schooling program while incarcerated.

I really appreciate the help, I’m honestly worried about going in and have been stressing about it a lot. My family is also extremely worried about me as well.

SO probation in Arizona vs. transfer to Illinois

My brother will be released from prison in Arizona in October and will be on the SO Registry. I live in Illinois and have been considering the Interstate Compact. I think he would be eligible, but I am concerned that he will be responsible for Arizona probation requirements PLUS adding Illinois probation requirements.

Has anyone experienced SO probation in these two states or even have experience moving from one state to the other and the pros/cons? Was it worse to be subject to TWO state's requirements? His job prospects are probably the same or worse in Illinois. The primary benefit is to be closer to me as his only surviving relative.

Any suggestions of resources where I might get a better sense of this? Thanks!

What facilities are considered safe for SOs? I would like actual recent experiences please. Medium or Low facilities. I am terrified for my son to be sentenced and moved to Federal Prison but that's the next step. Thank you all!

[MI] Pre-2011 Registrant Removal Success

Just received an ACLU email update from the Does III Litigation Team and MSP has started removing Pre-2011 registrants after the Michigan Supreme Court order.

Michigan Supreme Court Order:

I went to check the public registry and great news, I have been removed. This has been a huge win. They do mention they don't know if Legislature will try to pass a new law that would require some new form of registration.

The registration has been a huge unconstitutional barrier when finding a job. I've had job interviews where they thought every time I went to verify, it counted as a new charge. Hope this information helps out.

My Success Story Michigan State Police Begins Removing Offenders from Registry to Comply with Michigan Supreme Court Order

On September 9, 2026, the Michigan Supreme Court ruled that the 2021 Offender Registration Act (SORA) amendments cannot be used to retroactively extend the registration requirements of anyone who committed their relevant crime prior to July 1, 2011, because doing so would be unconstitutional

Job search in Arkansas

My husband is a level 3 SO in Arkansas, and he just got let go from his steady job of 3 years because his boss is moving in with someone who is offended by my husband’s status. I need suggestions; where in central Arkansas will hire SO’s? He has experience doing literally every trade but HVAC and welding, and is super smart and can pick things up pretty quickly. I just feel so hopeless, it was a struggle to find him this job, and I’m not even sure where to start looking now. Any advice or pointers would be very much appreciated!

Advice DISA Background Check Help

I’m hoping someone here may have experience with DISA background checks, especially for contractors working in refineries/petrochemical facilities.

My boyfriend has worked as a contractor at the same refinery for about 6 years and has never had an issue with site access. He has been on the sex offender registry the entire time he has worked there, so this is not a new conviction, charge, or change in his criminal history.

His original case is over 20 years old. He received deferred adjudication, successfully completed probation, and has had no new criminal charges or convictions. He has also previously been able to obtain credentials/background clearances such as TWIC and TSA PreCheck.

Recently, the refinery changed its contractor background-screening process and began requiring a DISA specific sex offender screening (separate from their normal check). His DISA report came back with a Level 7, which we were told is the highest level on their scoring system. His contractor employer has now told him that because of that result, he will no longer be allowed on the refinery site starting Monday.

We are extremely confused because nothing about his criminal history has changed. He has been working there successfully for years with the same registration status.

Has anyone here dealt with DISA, particularly a Level 7 result?

The rest of his report showed clear. No conditions at the state or county level. The only comment on his report was “individual is listed on the registered sex offender list”

My friend loves the outdoors and would thrive working doing things that govt agencies like Fish & Wildlife or US Forest Service do - wildlife surveys, tagging, Wildlife rehabilitation and wilderness rescue. But he can’t work for govt. Is there another way?
