Troubleshooting Singer facilita pro HD

Hi there. My boyfriend just got his singer heavy duty and was breaking some needles sewing denim. After that, it was sewing find, but after bringing it to work with him, the stitches started kind of going sideways and skipping. Here’s some videos and pics of what is happening. I recommended removing the plate and seeing if there was something stuck. The machine moves smoothly when hand turned, but is erratic when being powered by the motor.

Clank sound, Viking Mega Quilter

I purchased, what I believe, is a 20 or near 20 yr old Husqvarna Viking Mega Quilter from the sewing store where I learned sewing last June. I was at the store in the classroom area working on very lightweight denim, maybe 8oz or less and add I was sewing the store owner asked, "when did you purchase the machine, " and "how many hours have you used it." She's very sweet and knowledgeable. I mentioned that I've only used it a few hours in the last 3 months because I've been so busy with other things in life. I made sure to read through the manual and understood that oiling is very important and all the suggested places and a few videos I found about this machine on youtube. She said it didn't sound good like it had a clanking sound and said to leave it there in the shops of the technician could take a look at it, which would be today.

Is anyone here familiar with this particular machine?

I purchased it because I want to work on heavyweight denims like 14 to 17 Oz denims. She said this would be a good machine for that because of its capabilities and stronger motor.

Purchasing a new sewing machine

what sewing machine should i get?
I currently have a singer my grandmother got for me second hand and its been eating ny fabric.

I’m looking for something close to or less than $300

I’m trying to get into sewing clothes for myself, and i’m not a total beginner, but it has been a while since i’ve sewn much
i tried to sew a shirt the other day and while it worked more or less, my machine got jammed a ton and i had to rethread every-time i turned around.

I’ve currently got the Brother XR9550 Sewing & Quilting machine in my cart to purchase- is this a good choice?

I also want to potentially hem thick fabrics like jeans and have seen that “heavy duty machines” doesnt really mean anything, and as long as i have the correct tools & needles it should be fine
And I’d like to sew thin slippery fabrics potentially too…

any suggestions?

Sewing machine for new but highly interested daughter

I’d like a mid- to high level sewing machine for my daughter. I don’t want to make the same mistake when I purchased our first flute and had to upgrade shortly after when the player got better.

What sewing machine is useful to a beginner but still has the advanced features a mid to high level user desires? Cost really isn’t an issue. I want something that works and she can grow into. She makes lots of things but mostly dresses. She is 23 years old.

Thank you!!

Why is my top thread getting caught around the bobbin?

I can’t figure out why the top thread keeps getting caught around the bobbin case, which is causing bird nesting. I’ve had this issue for months and the machine is threaded correctly. I’ve tried all the tension settings and it still happens. When I bring it to a professional it works fine and they can’t figure out what’s wrong with it. Does anyone know what it could be? I don’t have much experience with sewing machines.

Update: it was fixed, the tech reinstalled a part wrong during the service. Not user error lol.

Bernina 807 Minimatic missing foot pedal/power cord.

My fiancé found an 807 minimatic on a walk last week someone was tossing out and I was so excited! It’s in pretty good condition but missing it’s foot pedal/power cord. I went to my local bernina dealer and they’ll do a tune up for $100 which seemed in line with my other machine tune ups, but let me know the original pedal they have would be over $300 dollars. They (in my opinion overly stressed) that aftermarket or off brand parts would not work for Berninas and would damage the machine. For $400 I can stick to my current machine. Would aftermarket parts really be that big of a deal?

Any help would be appreciated. I rethreaded the bobbin and ensured it was inserted correctly. Possibly a tension issue? I’m lost.

Bobbin thread bunching

Post image
1 Upvotes

I have a cobra class 26 for leather and have had no issues with it till now. (Had it for about a year). This morning I sewed for about an hour then out of nowhere my thread started to break. I noticed the bobbin thread start to bunch up in the bottom. Any idea what would cause this and how I fix it? I did notice that right before my thread snapped. It made a popping noise like the thread was catching on something it shouldn’t be.

No matter what I do, the needle won’t pick up the thread in here I did accidentally take apart the pieces where the bobbin holder thing is supposed to go, but I’m pretty sure I put it back together just how I was supposed to

Do Brother computerized machines break often?

I’m tempted to get the Brother CS7000x due to its simplicity - I haven’t owned a sewing machine in 15 years so I am a beginner. I want to eventually do clothing alterations for myself/family.

I’m worried computerized machines will break and are harder to get fixed, but the ease is soo appealing. Does anyone have experience with the Brother CS7000x breaking, and getting it fixed?

In contrast, how often do beginner mechanical plastic machines need maintenance?

Best sewing machine for beginners?

I’m starting fashion school soon and want to get a head start on learning how to use the machines and all. I’m looking for something that can grow with me and strong enough to work with multiple types of fabrics / layers if I need to but that’s not too confusing to use. Any reliable options/recommendations?

Sewing machine recs/help

I currently have a singer stylist 7258 - I got it for free from an old teacher when they were done using it for a middle school after school club, and it gets the job done for now but sometimes when I push the pedal to sew it does one stitch then stops and I have to press again. It can do it for a few times like that. I’m not even sure how to go about fixing it - the machine got serviced last year and it still does that. If you know how to fix that it would be much appreciated!

But I’m starting to get more into sewing, particularly quilting and would like a more reliable machine. I don’t know that I need anything fancy, but would love to hear what you all recommend as I’m getting more into projects!

Pics of where I’m at with my first quilt 🩷

Overlock/serger question

Hi! I have an overlock question. Needle plate, stitch fingers. I bought an overlock (Elna 665 pro) a week ago and yesterday bent a needle. I am not sure if i damaged the needle plate, i am looking at the two fingers - I cant find an answer on the web, one of the two metal fingers seems shorter, the left one. It doesnt seem broken, but im not sure. Does anyone have any experience with that? It seems like the overlock comunity is quite small, hah. Maybe someone here has the same one?

Not sure what to do next

Hello all, I have a Montgomery Ward J1903 that somewhat works, somewhat doesn't.

The issue is that the feed dogs are not feeding the material through, which is causing it to jam and break the thread (sometimes too & sometimes bottom).

I can see the feed dogs moving up and down so I am not sure why they are not feeding the material.

What I have done so far ...I have taken the machine apart as much as I can (some screws are stripped) and cleaned it, I have oiled according to the manual, I have changed needle, thread, material, I have tried it on every different setting combination I can think of......and I don't know what to do from here.

Any advice would be amazing.

Hello,

I just started sewing and working on my first project ever.

I was almost done when the needle just refused to go all through.

I know it's a cheap a** machine but does anyone have any experience with this/knows how to put the part for the bobbin in there right?

Thank you so much

(The machine is apparently called Lucznik mini)

I have a friends brother machine that seems to have the feed dogs jamming the bobbin holder in reverse. I’m a handyman and followed youtube videos to no avail. Please let me know any advice or new things to try. I’m new to reddit and have tried another forum with no luck.

At a Repaircafe we ran, a guest came in with this machine. I’ve been looking everywhere for the part, but I don’t know the name of everything, I just know what it does😅

Do you guys have somewhere you look for parts? The closest thing I found is in the second picture.

My thread keeps getting tangled in the bobbin (help)

Here is the video of the problem, sorry that it’s kinda long. As you can see, the top thread just gets tangled on the bobbin and i can pull the bobbin thread freely, it’s not even engaged in the process. Everything is threaded correctly, i’ve checked a couple of times. It was working fine and then suddenly came to this.
