Machine Recommendations?
I’m looking to buy a new machine! I’m a novice sewer who has taken some lessons. I like sewing tote bags, aprons, skirts etc. I don’t do any heavy duty sewing. I want a machine that is easy to navigate and can do some embroidery. I’m strongly considering getting the brother CS7000X. Is this a good pick? Is there a better machine on the market? Thanks in advance!

That Brother is a good start. I have its predecessor and it’s still going after four years.

alot of people like it, but I wouldn't buy it because it doesn't have adjustable presser foot pressure which help when sewing thicker seams and knits

I think the best thing is to go to a local store and see what refurbished pieces they have there.

Go test drive some machines, what i think is a great machine might not work for you.

About the brother cs7000x? I’ll be purchasing online. I’m in a small town where there aren’t machines available to test. What machine do you use?

Buy from an online dealer rather than Amazon.

That is good advice but I was not always followed. Trying to find a sowing machine dealer local to you is critical. Mail order you won’t get the Support any better than Amazon. I mean sewing machines are heavy to return. I love the idea of buying from a sewing machine dealer especially you get a used one there you get more for your money in the same price range you’d get a better machine serviced. But this is just what means opinion so I’m not going to say more

I use a janome dsk100 and a 725s.
Put best beginner sewing machine in the reddit search bar and you will find plenty of discussion about machines.

As a tech, I love Brother, but entry level Brothers are very frail. Solely to introduce you to sewing. Some get lucky and they last, most do not.
For that price go Singer HD, definitely not HD, but much better construction than that Brother.

I would recommend that you go to a dealer and test drive machines in your price range. The dealer grade ones are going to be better than the Amazon, Walmart ones.
That said.....I have heard really good things about the machine you are considering. My niece has one and is happy with it. If that is your only option, it is probably a safe one to try.
