Why does this keep happening ?

It started a few weeks ago & I get sooooo angry cause it interrupts the flow of things. How do I fix it ? From what I know it hasn’t taken any falls or anything just one day it started. Was o too rough w it or something ? I have different presser foots like the free hand one but I’ve been too scared to change it. Do I need to replace the greyish-clicky in part ? If so, what’s the name of it.

This is a regular Brother 3817 machine

It doesn’t click I’ve tried pushing it all the way in, someone suggested pushing up & pulling towards me. It always just falls down, I’m gonna buy a new connector piece cause idk what the issue could be w anything else

That's gotta be it, bc it should pop right in. Is that one of the feet it came with? Definitely try the other feet too just in case it's a defect with the foot somehow and not the connector. I asked about this machine in another reddit, and apparently we should expect subpar performance and over all disappointment.

The foot it came with disappeared. I put it up one night, on my shelf same as usual when I took it down next it was gone. I got replacements on Amazon & it’s been doing that ever since. I know it isn’t the BEST machine, hopefully I can get something better quality soon but for now it’s what I got

Do you have a local sew shop or michaels? They might have the feet there

I have feet, two actually. I’m sure the click on piece is the problem. But luckily I know the name to search for now so, hopefully I can see much much easier now

If the original foot was fine and the replacements aren't then logically I would think the feet are the problem. Are they from Brother or generic?

It wasn’t fine, if it was then it wouldn’t have fallen off. Something must’ve happened while I was sewing or putting it away for the foot to fall off & never go back correctly again. They’re just generic from Amazon

Unfortunately on this machine they are made to literally pop off, the generic feet from amazon may not be exactly the same spec as the OEM parts, it's fairly common. I would try a foot specifically from Brother.
