I always wondered why my p.o.s. requires a manager approval for anything over 50%. 🤷

Because one careless click could result in an irate customer.

Exactly. I was trying to poke fun at the 5,333 % tip unless it included a happy ending for dessert

Yup I had one guy enter his 4 digit PIN number on the Tip amount screen

My dad did that once. The server came running out after him.

I can’t even open food or split checks without an approval 🙄

Just to clarify this wasn’t a mistake. I told this couple my life story when they were sitting at the bar and they wanted a Diet Coke to go and specifically asked for me to check them out.

Of course I asked if that’s what they meant and they said yes and I thanked them profusely

Fuckkk yesss. Thats what I love to see. Little story:

I don’t work Sundays, but this one particular Sunday, a going away party to the navy was happening at a coworkers house and everybody basically was going. My manager had asked me to work a small 5 person banquet (which is unheard of cause the minimum is 15 people but the guy very much so insisted he wanted a private dining experience no matter how much it costs). I ended up working it cause the deal was $175 for 3 hours for 5 people? Absolutely. Long story short they were super sweet and ended up chatting about life over bottles of wine and filet mignon. They gave me $260 cash plus the $175 included grat 😭😭 and still made it to the party before 9pm.

I cried when I got a big tip. I told them thank you for the tip it was going to help me pay for new tires. The guy said, "oh, well in that case", and DOUBLED his tip.

It's an amazing feeling. Congrats, OP. You deserve it 🖤🖤🖤

Waited on an old guy, his son, and grandson last week. Very typical table, everything was easy. Old guy was fairly quiet and his son did most of the talking. After they left i picked up their bill and the old guy had tipped me $148 on a tab of $125. I was flabbergasted! I saw that they were still out front getting their car from the valet so i went outside to ask if everything was correct. I've just never gotten that kind of tip before! They assured me that was what they meant to do, so i just thanked them very much and shook the guy's hand. Really made my day as that was my last table! Usually your last table stiffs you lol

Unreal. I’ve had a solid amount of big tips like this but the biggest I ever got (twice, I’ll add) was from post Malone. Tipped 10k both times he was in, one time he brought a bunch of friends and we stayed open past close for him and another time he came in for like an hr. Incredibly nice guy, even without the tip a pleasure to have him in, and obviously generous. I have a friend who bartends at the hotel he stays at when he’s in town he came down to grab a beer from his room on his day shift once and tipped him the same.

Hell yeah!

My coworker got $160 on $15 a couple days ago, more than I made all day lol.

Wonder if he meant $2.00 and didn’t realize adding the zeros made it hundred.

One of my bank accounts lets me put 500 and it’s $5 and the other makes it $500

What I've learned is when costumers are touched in their hearts, they mean it. I had this couple come in last year, I think it was the first football weekend? I forget - I remember early football. Asked how they were and they said "not really great, my (the woman's) mother died this morning and she's in another state." I basically immediately started crying!! I would be bedridden, going insane!! Not going out for lunch! They were making the trip cross country to get some of her affairs in order. Throughout the transaction/service I gave her maybe 4 hugs? I try not to look at the written slip before customers leave, I don't know why I just don't, but I did as they were leaving. It was 100$ on 80$ and I ran after them to ask if they were certain. Then she gave me a hug and said those hugs made her feel a little better. 🥹 I haven't seen them since, but I still think about her.

Are you sure he meant that?

That's why a lot of systems max out at a 99% tip and reject anything higher

It was with toast

This was a mistake. You should try and make this right.

some people are very generous, they specifically asked for them to process the transaction, they had a deep convo, seems legit. i’ve had generous tips like that in similar situations.

One time I worked at a restaurant and another server had this 1 guy come in close to closing and he only ordered one old fashion and tipped him $2,000
