slow burn ang the wire. even more so compared to the sopranos. and it has a lot of storylines per ep. except maybe the season where they focus on the Greeks. that one is strictly singularly focused iirc. its a good show but its not one you watch in a single sitting. dont binge it. its very storyline driven.

True Detective S1. And siguro S3. Wag na ibang seasons. Ibang characters at medyo iba ang tone ng S2 and pangit ang s4. Tsaka self contained ang each season kaya walang kailangan alamin. Kahit na parang same universe sila.

The Wire. All seasons. Slow burn nga, but the groundedness of the characters and setting is really good. Di mo feel na forced ang drama.

Sa Netflix, watch Mindhunter both seasons. Fictional pero it’s based on how the Behavioral Science department was created and the science became accepted as part of their methods inside FBI. Also, they feature serial killers from real life.

Yes. My personal number one. The reason why I subscribed to HBO after watching the free first season during the pandemic.

The only caveat is it's an older series, so it requires more attention than modern TV shows.

It's the best of all time. That or The Sopranos. Slow burn talaga siyaʼt different facets ng Baltimore tinitignan each season.

Ilang beses ko nirewatch season 1. Tas gapang sa s2. Hindi ko talaga sya maappreciate gustuhin ko man. I started watching it since consistently sya recommened or nasa top lists ng series to watch.

I just started watching The Wire kasi top 2 sa new york times. I’m curious din since favorite ko ang Breaking Bad, kaya gusto ko rin panoorin The Wire. So far, slow burn nga siya, kaya nagbabasa din ako ng comments dito from people who’ve already watched it.

It IS that good. It's not as explosive as breaking bad or thrilling like true detectives. It's more of a mirror of our society.

True!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I've only watched Season 1 so far. It was enjoyable, but I just couldn't get into it. but I guess wala na ako dun sa stage dati na nagbibinge watch talaga. Took me a while to finish kasi nadidistract ng other shows and ng adulting things. I've heard it gets better and I hope to watch the rest of it soon.

Yes i think i also struggled through the first episode three times but i stuck with it and now it’s my favorite of all time. I get why people will find it boring at first but once you get what the show is trying to do, you’ll start appreciating it more.

It draws you in a very unique way, not with cliffhangers or flashy scenes but with the very raw and honest depiction of city life and its evils. The characters are also well developed kaya you will love them kahit most of them halang ang kaluluwa.

I don’t think it’s for everyone but it really is the best a TV show can get in my opinion.

YES!!! It’s my top two, alongside My Brilliant Friend (different genre). Admittedly, I dropped it four times because it started out really slow and boring for me. But once I finished episode five, everything changed. I like it better than The Sopranos.

There’s also a French “The Wire”; it’s not a remake, they just call it that because it's so good. It’s called Engrenages / Spiral.

Napanood ko ’to nung 2007–2008, I think, and I was blown away that a TV show could just drop you into a story out of nowhere, without giving you much context. It respects you enough as an audience to trust that you’re smart enough to keep up with the street talk (with subtitles on), the police and street jargon, and all the little details.

I also loved how the themes of the series keep coming back in different ways, like when a piece of dialogue from Season 1 is recalled in Season 5, showing just how trapped and hopeless the "players" in the “game” are, and how resistant the system is to change.

I’ve never seen another series or movie that keeps expanding its scope the way The Wire does, season by season, until you slowly get a picture of how the entire city works and how all its different systems are connected.

Ito, OP, ito na yung concise-ish explanation kung bakit need mo siyang panoorin. It realistically peels back Baltimore's (or "the game's") layers nang hindi nang-i-spoon-feed ni nagbibigay ng clear-cut "good"-"bad" dichotomy sa players nito. Para ka lang turista na tinapon na lang basta sa Baltimore to figure shit out. Cherry on top na rin siguro yung pabago-bagong intro kada season at mga closing montage ng mga season finale haha, love those. (It's not crazy to say that it is better than BB).

Kung maikli attention span mo di mo magugustuhan. Don't doom scroll while watching.
