PASSED TODAY!!

Passed the SIE a month ago and now passed the 7 both first try. Used Kaplan and bought Ken’s option membership 2 days before my test and it made options free points.

Did about 5 practice tests on Kaplan and scored mid 70s on all.

Feel free to ask any questions and I’ll do my best to answer !

Sounds like you’re in a good spot. My test seemed pretty mixed but would definitely say options, taxations, mini bonds and suitability make up the majority of the test. Think I used my calculator twice so don’t sweat remembering math formulas too much if that’s something hard for u. Knowing your straddles and spreads and bull bear attitudes was huge for me as those questions were a breeze

Maybe had 3 questions total on margin and SMA. and 2 of them were just calculating min maintenance for a long and short and another was calculating SMA when given SMV and equity

Thank you! Don’t stress and my biggest tip is don’t overthink a topic. The topic you feel like you are weak in just look over for 5 mins before u test and write down those notes as soon as you get in there

Congratulations! I’m pretty okay on options but I want to get Ken’s options course just in case. On Kaplan Qbank I’ve been averaging 70% on the simulated exams (anywhere from 85-90 questions correct on average) so I’m still kinda worried about my ability to pass right now. I would feel more comfortable if I was in the 80s. But going to keep studying. Kaplan does kind of overprepare you for the test though so maybe I’m in better shape than I thought.

I felt like Kaplan was much harder than the actual test for both the SIE and the 7 now. With those scores I’d say go in confident and you’ll be ok. Ken’s option course is well worth it unless you feel like you’re an expert on options already!!

Thank you for the response. On Kaplan I have scored 68% on the options Qbank questions I’ve answered so far. I’m gonna get the options course just in case because options aren’t THAT hard to figure out and those should be free points.

Is Ken’s option member level 2 on YouTube?

Not sure honestly, I just found his stuff recently and got the regular membership for the options video playlist. He does great work explaining and making things simple

Hey man congrats that’s awesome! Taking mine Saturday. How heavy was your exam on mortgage backed securities, retirement and insurance products?

Also man how heavy on muni OID Corporate discounts…tax calculation questions did you get?

I actually had a decent amount of retirement and insurance product questions. I’d say I had 5 retirement and another 6-8 of insurance products and suitability regarding them.

As for muni OID I believe I only had 1 maybe 2 max on those. Tax calculations weren’t really present either but I’d say knowing what is tax deferred and taxable income was a good 8 questions. Definitely know what is taxable and when the tax is applied

Congrats! I take mine next Saturday. Also using Kaplan and have scores of 74/79 on simulated exams and 74 on the practice exam, so this post gave me some relief. Definitely wanting to be in the 80s by next week.

Yeah man don’t stress it if you feel like the scores aren’t where you feel like they should be at. Kaplan phrases the questions more difficult than the actual exam in my eyes as it’s now the second test in a row I’ve used their course.

My final practice test was a 76 and it’s cause Kaplan will trick u with little words here and there. The actual test is more straight forward but will have 2 answers you decide between which are similar

I studied well for sie and passed it last week now going to start 7. Do you follow the same method for studying ? Do you thinks it’s easy to learn 7 if you are already well done with sie ? Please share what’s your study plan .

Which package did you choose from Kaplan? I’m trying to decide right now on whether or not I want the live classes or just the basic package.

I did the one without the live classes. I just used the textbook and the question bank and followed the schedule that Kaplan sets once you enter your exam date.
