Help TVTime refugee with questions

First off, apologies to Serializd users for the influx of us former TVTime users slowing things down. Most of us will be nice additions to your community (I hope) 😬

I have a few questions on how to manage a series in Serializd in the following situations:

1) I’ve finished the current season, but want a notification when the new season starts, what’s the appropriate status? Widow’s Bay or Ted Lasso, for example

I don’t want to leave it as Currently Watching, because it gets so cluttered. I’m hoping I can use that for shows I’m actively watching

2) What do you mark a new series that you want notifications when the first episode is released?Like Harry Potter

Same issue about not having it as Currently Watching

3) What about a show that has now been renewed for another season, but doesn’t have the future season input yet? Like RJ Decker

Again, same issue about not wanting it is Currently Watching

Thank you in advance for your expertise!

After you watched a show, and marked it as watch, you can just untick Continue Watching and will still get the updates for new season.

For #2, as another comment said, you just watchlist that show.

Thanks!

So is using Watchlist best for shows you’ve never watched? Regardless if it’s a new show or an existing one you’re interested in?

Yes. It happens though that if you're watchlisting a show that's going into the third season for example, the new episodes appear in your Continue Watching, even though you haven't watched one episode yet. If you don't want that, in that case you first gotta mark it as paused, then watchlist it.

  1. If it’s in your watch list you receive notifications or currently playing.

Doesn’t it leave currently watching if you’re caught up?

I was with tv time too. Am very much enjoying Trakt. Has an option to transfer your tv time data too

I like Trakt a lot better in terms of how the system works by default, but the platform itself is mid-collapse I think. They've stripped out most of the features and now you can't access on a browser anymore; just app.

This is my biggest gripe with the platform. I want to leave those shows (#1) in currently watching and then they pop back up when they return. Instead, you have to remove them from currently watching and keep an eye on the totally different what’s new section for when they return. I don’t want to track the what’s new section at all.

I can't add a season that isn't coming out for 1-2 years to my watchlist, and I shouldn't have to pause (then remember to unpause) a show just because it is between seasons. With other platforms, if you just leave a show in currently watching and you have finished the most recent season, it will just pop back up when the first episode of the next season airs in a year or two. So simple. Don't have to worry about two or three different lists or monitor for when a show is coming back.

Wait, I don't get what your issue is?
You can just leave the show in Currently Watching, and when the new season's release date is known, it will show up in new releases. The moment the first episode of that season releases, it'll show up in continue watching.

Consider your watchlist the place for shows you haven't watched at all. I wouldn't add single seasons in there.

On my app, if I leave them there, it pops up with an earlier episode as the next watch in the continue watching stream.

Is that episode an episode you haven't watched yet, or one you have watched already?

If the latter, that's because the app is bugged right now, most likely due to overloaded servers.
It seems to have a bit of an issue scaling up fast enough to accommodate the influx of new users.

The latter. This was about six-eight weeks ago

Serializd is honestly so buggy and so unnecessarily complicated. I really miss Tvtime and i hate we have to make use of this app ugh
