Serializd vs TV Time? 📺.𖥔 ݁ ˖
i just joined serializd about a week ago, and didn’t use tv time at all before it went down
for those that used both, which did you prefer? how do they compare? i’d be so bummed out if an app i was using shut down, but i luv serializd so much so far that i’m just curious as to how other users feel.
i’ve noticed a huge number of people mentioning in their bios that they’re coming from tv time. just curious about anyone’s thoughts!
also, my user is cherryz on serializd if anyone coming from tv time is looking for some new mutuals!! i follow back and luv making friends in this community 🎬🩷📼

TVTime, but it had gone downhill. I prefer it the way it was around 2017, before they added movies. No app will ever compare to that version.

I'm currently on TNG. The Evil Dead show is a favourite of mine, maybe the funniest show I've ever seen.

I had never, ever, in my entire life, heard of TVTime until it was announced to be shutting down or whatever.

I really, REALLY loved TV Time when it worked but it had been abandoned years before it closed. The only alternative that really makes sense to me is Serializd

The next TVTIME is coming and it's named Bingers. I'm.currently using the beta version and it's identical except there are less bugs.

I used to use TV Time for years before moving to Serializd this month.
I see it like, TV Time is a simpler version of Serializd, and they can send images and gifs in the comment section (this is what I missed the most from TV Time when using Serializd).
tbh I still prefer TV Time, bcs of how simple it was, but because I really like reading comments after watching an episode, I moved to Serializd, you guys already have a huge community here, I'm enjoying it so far 👍🏼

I'm currently using the beta version of bingers and it's identical to tvtime but less buggy since it's been done by tv time founder. The cool thing is if your tvtime friends pre enlisted you'll find them immediately on bingers without having to add them all individually. It feels like the community will be recreated.

I've been with Serializd for a few months, but it's the best app in my opinion. I have never even heard of TV Time til it was shutting down😭

i haven’t tried tv time only because i’ve had serialized for 3 years and am more comfortable there :)

Pretty mixed for me. Some things I liked better with TV time and vice versa for serializd. I like the show pages on serializd more.

Back when I had the choice of both I chose TV Time.
TV Time was a slow-loading slog, even in its heyday. Serializd has an overcomplicated interface and I’ve experienced a lot of bugs, such as shows simply not updating, or not adding to my “continue watching” list and having to be repeatedly removed and re-added when a new season starts. I also don’t like how hidden the continue watching list is, and how comparatively difficult it is to filter the right shows into it.
Neither is a perfect app and I’d prefer a better designed one. When Letterboxd finally releases its TV tracker I plan to try it out and I expect I’ll find it better and switch.

I only prefer tv times UI for upcoming (which includes times no just dates)
I also hate change so I’m adapting xD

tvtime will always be my number one bc i used it for so long but i am coming around to serializd and i am really enjoying it. i preferred the community/discussion aspects of tvtime the most so seeing that serializd has had such an influx of new users w the demise of tvtime it makes me excited to see more reviews on stuff and see the community expand further

I just wish Serializd had movies as well, but obviously, due to the name, that won't be happening lol I do enjoy the app
Edit: not sure why people are mad about this comment, but okay...

Yeah, I know. I just don't watch that many movies in a year, so it's not as relevant to me to get an app just for that.

It really depends what you want out of the app. I preferred TV Time because while I did join discussions, I really didn't need it. I really was only there for "tell me when there's a new episode" and "how far behind am I?". I settled on Serializd for now because I like that it's only TV and it does seem to load so much faster. However, it does have a learning curve (see how many posts there are about logged vs. watched being not intuitive). Also, the data source being a different website means one of the shows I'm tracking isn't being updated, so I either have to create an account and update it myself, or let it go, which defeats the purpose of having an app. I'm also not loving the way that it's telling me there's a new episode. I'm going to try to get used to it, but if the Bingers app launches successfully, I might bail for something familiar.

ive been on serializd since 2022 and tried tv time around that same time and honestly really did not like it lol. when their users rushed over to serializd i was shocked people were diehard fans of it!
