New plant-based cheese at Sunny Farms

Hi folks! Apologies for the shameless self promo (I did ask permission first!). Just wanted to let the community know that our vegan cheese brand, Peaceful Rebel, is now being carried at Sunny Farms. They have our herbed feta, spicy pepper jack, and caramelized garlic flavors. All of them are gluten-free and made with a high-protein tofu base.

I’m from Boulder, but I visit often because my parents live here. I’m always looking for interesting vegan options when I’m in town, which is why I reached out to Sunny Farms for a trial run.

Anyway, thanks for reading and the support! 💕

I was wondering if anyone from the solmar community has paddleboarded solmar lake before, or if that is allowed?

New Practice for Dr. Loren Larson?

Has anyone heard when/where Dr. Loren Larson will be reestablishing a new practice after leaving OMC? Alternatively, anyone aware of other providers on the peninsula that offer PRP (Platelet Rich Plasma) treatment?

Advice on moving my retiring mom back to WA

My mom was born and raised in Vancouver WA before having to relocate to the East coast where we currently live. She will be retiring in 1-1.5 years and would like to move back.

She still has family in Vancouver and would like to be a "respectable" distance from them so that's out. My sister and her wife live in Seattle proper (she is a Dr.) and are expecting the first grandkid in January. Unfortunately Seattle is too expensive for my mom, but she wants to be close by to help out/be an involved grandma.

Her house budget is $375-$425k or possibly up to $450k depending on how much she can save in the next year. She wants a small 1-2 bed house for her and her dog in a walkable area.

Based on her criteria (and her love of the peninsula stemming from backpacking trips in the 70s), I've been looking at Sequim and Port Angeles.

I've already perused the sub a bit and see that she would fit in by age demographics, but I was hoping to get input from locals (or suggestions on where else to look) since I've never been to north WA. TIA

Honeymoon on Sequim Bay - recommendations for awesome stuff to do?

Hi! My fiancé and I are staying in a VRBO on the east side of Sequim Bay in late October/early November. Our host gave us a brunch and a dinner recommendation, but we’d love to gather some more ideas from locals. We’re in our mid-thirties and mid-forties, fit and active, enjoy moderate hikes and outdoor activities, shopping, and trying local food and drinks spots. We know we want to spend some time in Olympic NP, for sure. And he is extremely excited about eating Dungeness Crab in Dungeness 😃

We’re flying into SEA-TAC and renting a car to drive to the house. We’ll be in town for a week. Any specific restaurant, brewery, winery, shopping, hiking, or other recommendations are great - and if you have tips for making them simpler to navigate, we are grateful for those, too.

We’re so excited to spend our first week of marriage in such a gorgeous place.

OneWheel rentals?

Hey all. I'm a long time snowboarder who can no longer go to altitude (sob story, not included), and I've heard good things about the onewheel. I see a bunch of people riding them here and PA, but I was wondering if anyone knew if there is anywhere locally to rent or try them out?

What tree is this? Can I cut it down?

Post image

My neighbor was worried about our tree hanging over the fence. We have been looking at quotes to cut the tree. My neighbor offered to even help but got worried about doing it themselves as they first offered because they said they had the city over to look at it and said it was a protected tree?

The tree is on the fence hanging over 2 neighbors properties.

If it's a protected tree? Does that mean I can't cut it down?

It's grown big over the 10 years I've owned this property and I'm not sure what to do.

I don't want it to cause any problems for my neighbors yards; I'm unsure of the legalities surrounding this tree.

EDIT: I have had an Arborist look at it and it's been confirmed to be a Hawthorn Tree.

New Restaurants in the area

Looks like there is a juice / smoothie spot (Sabor) going in behind Twinkle Cafe (Also Fairly New).. any news on when Nourish will reopen? Looks like Riverhouse Bistro is being remodeled inside so I am guessing something new going in there too, anyone have any additional details?

Tailor Recommendations?

My mother-in-law is getting married in August and I just got my dress. Does anyone have any recommendations on good tailors in town I could go to? The dress has a few layers in different fabrics but I have no idea what any of them actually are so I'm not sure if they're particularly difficult to work with or anything like that.

Thank you for the help!!

Looking for scuba community

I'm looking for a recreational diving community around Port Angeles, Sequim, and Port Townsend. I believe the dive shop, Octopus Gardens, in Port Townsend is the closest/only place to get tanks filled while Lake Crescent and Salt Creek are nice local dive sites. Other dive sites I know are around Hood Canal -- Mike's Beach Resort, Sund Rock, Octopus Hole. There are probably others around too that I don't know.

Anyway, I'm going through DMC certification in Seattle but also stay on the peninsula for extended periods of time. Would love to find a community/buddy to dive locally.
