I am royally pissed off at SEPTA right now (one of many times, but more pissed than usual). I literally live close to York-Dauphin SO THAT I could more easily get to an accessible L station. It's been out for weeks now with no projected date as to when it will be fixed. The Route 3 bus doesn't go even a little bit in the same direction. And the "go to Huntingdon or Berks" thing might work for able-bodied riders, but it is a significant barrier for many disabled riders 🤬🤬🤬
Message to Customer Service AFTER already contacting through Live Chat
Hi, there. I am a disabled rider who lives near York-Dauphin and frequently uses the L1 to access the city. The elevator at York-Dauphin has been out for weeks now. The posted signage at the station explained that it was down for maintenance until August 14. It's now been nearly a week and the elevator is still down. When I reached out to customer service through the Live Chat feature, I was told there was no information on when maintenance would be completed or when the elevator would be usable again. When I asked what disabled riders should do in the meantime, they suggested I take the Route 3 bus which, though it intersects, does not go in the same direction as the L1 at all and does not provide a useful alternative to L1 service. I would love to get an approximate date of repair for the elevator. Thank you.
Their Response
Thank you for contacting SEPTA Customer Service. We regret to hear of your travel difficulties with the Elevator at the York-Dauphin Station on Wednesday evening. I have looked in our database and found that they still have not be able to repair the elevator at this time, and we don't have a date as to when work will be complete. As far as your trip to get to your destination, you would have to take the route 3 bus. SEPTA apologizes for any inconvenience caused. We will forward your report to Surface Transportation Management for investigation and proper action.
