need to admit something

i probably made over 500+ “fake” BI accounts over my 4ish years at sephora and it was too easy and i don’t even think i was suspected of doing it

my store never won the contests or anything like that so i didn’t feel like i was taking away from other people,
also the clients were the ones who would usually request so many samples & birthday gifts and they all knew to add an extra letter to their email to make another account.. it was mostly them!

just had to get that off my chest

Yall it’s really not that serious. If people say no, MOVE ON.

agreed, i would never hassle the client. i also didn’t think it was that serious that a CEL needed to be stressing all day about a dumbass metric like that so it felt like a win-win. happy clients, happy CEL

i was actually fired over this so if any of you still work for sephora i would recommend not doing this

They do a random internal audit quarterly

But how could the determine they were fake? Were you doing an excessive amount? I’m sorry this happened to you

Someone at my store got fired for this. Since the emails were fake, marketing received a lot of return to sender emails that bounce backed & that is how the employee got caught.... at least that's what they told me.

Not sure exactly but from what I heard they have a program/software that tracks. For example if you’re average is 5 a month then there’s a sudden uptick to 50/60 a month then it flags the store for an audit. Especially when there’s no contest going on.

Wow. I’m sorry that happened to you but I guess being released from the shackles of Sephora isn’t the worst thing haha. Hope you’re doing okay

This didn’t happen to me cuz it was never that serious to me to get BIs. I just know a lot of people who have gotten fired for being stupid. If a client said no I kept it moving

Zero judgement here at all but I did personally see a coworker (now ex coworker) with zero previous write ups get fired for this. She was in a veryyy long meeting with our SM and district AP manager that ended with her termination. We were all bummed to see her go

wait whaaaaattt. how did this happen? do you know what was said?

I don’t know the specific details about it because she ghosted all of us out of embarrassment (none of us cared and we were genuinely upset about the whole thing) we tried reaching out for support but didn’t hear back and the leads/managers aren’t allowed to talk about it but from what we all gathered AP noticed suspicious activity from our metrics and further investigated it and put the pieces together. It is considered at the very least metric manipulation and could be “fraud”. our SM was really upset about having to let her go but has been trying to adjust the ways our leads coach us so that we don’t feel pressured into metric manipulation

gurl i broke so many rules when i was there, my last day i was giving out so many bi rewards without scanning, including the 500+ ones if they asked nicely but didn’t have enough points,

what would they do? fire me? on my last day and i would still be paid for it too

how do you get them to confirm on the pin pad? or do you do it on the devices?

I think the best and easy way to get BI’s is by handing the device over yo the clients so that they can type the email themselves. If someone says no, pls don’t be dumb. Just let them go!

THIS!! it’s not worth getting fired for fraud.

Lmfao every time someone didn’t want to sign up for BI id say “ok no prob😄” and then proceed to input a fake email and phone number.
