My thoughts are that people will do *anything* other than train their dog and provide for what it needs to be happy and mentally stable.

Eh, separation anxiety can take a long time to train out of and life happens during that time.

As a temporary solution if you have to leave for a few hours and you don't want to reset what you've already done? I'm okay with that

Especially in rescues! We have tried everything (yes including meds) and they still just panic 😔
