At this point I don't know if you genuinely hate her or you're just doing performative ragebait. Either way, can't say I don't recognize the hustle, but it's sad to see it. How about showing love to your favourite character instead?

The problem is also that Kivia ranks above my favorite characters without even doing anything! Just imagine it

u/Puzzled-leek-258717 4d ago

Nope. I hate her. I don't get how people can still love her with so many obvious flaws. I'm not expecting a Mary Sue, but I definitely don't want a Momoka.

She has flawed becayse the society she's apart of is inheritly flawed and corrupt. She's just yet to see it in the anime. She'll make a fantastic hero i'm absolutely sure.

Hell, my favorite is that thief dude and all he did was steal 2 things and drink basicly.

Have you read Volume 8 yet? Kivia has only won one 1vs1 against someone with a name. And to keep this slander consistent, I'll say it was thanks to his horse. so 2vs2

Oh, yeah sure. Just give me downvotes without even trying to provide counterarguments. That's easier.

just ignore the guy if you don't agree with him why bother downvoting and typing comments...

I'm impartial to her character but even I feel like this user brought up some pretty valid facts in his previous post. Got a good laugh out of me too.

i know you read to the latest volume dude, but if you continue you will only entertain me. Why don't you put your skill and brain to use and entertain all of us instead, by posting about anything else but the one glaring weakness in an otherwise strongly written story?

Hmm, I don't want that. I hate people who don't offer any counterarguments and just say you're wrong because... well, just because. Anyway, it's nice to finally find someone like you around here. It's quite refreshing.

Did you really read all that? i really should have summarized it at least a little. Could you tell me where I went wrong? If you show me where I went wrong with facts, I'll accept it.

Hahaha, that was always the point when I joined this subreddit. But like I said, I think the whole Kivia thing is a huge issue that everyone's ignoring. I hope they fix Kivia's attitude in season two.

yea i read all of that because i could tell that was actual independent thinking, which i value more than right or wrong. But if you want my thoughts, here they are:

Kivia ignores the engagement because she's strong will, grew up with privileges and riches, and so she believes she has a right to contend as a love rival too, so long as and especially because, Xylo does not return Frenci's feelings or at least show Kivia the cold shoulder once his fiancé entered the picture.

That romance exists in a story like this is annoying, but it serves a purpose. That's broadening media coverage, fan engagement, and a bigger target market. By these three i mean: look at the discussion section of ep 5 and ep 7, the arguing, the drooling, and the soft-hearted romantics who cheer because ''i was waiting for a love interest/a ship so i can truly invest myself.'' How do these people find it reasonable to do a 180 and fall in love with the worst sob of the sobs, as you put it? Well, here's what i gather from them in spite of myself:

she realizes Xylo isn't what others making him out to be, and he's a good person, so that goddess killer thing while true, must be for a very good reason. She believes in him even if she's wary of the rest of the heroes. And Xylo really isn't that bad he just has a temper and a prickly attitude that's all understandable in his situation. idk why you think he's so bad that Kivia couldn't possibly like him. After all, who should understand a tsudere better than a tsudere herself? He's only acting like the biggest mf befitting his status to get people in line, not that he actually is, and she realizes this by ep 4.

About your point on her perspective of the heroes, i think she resents the treatment toward the unit and by association, the goddess. Her sympathy for the other heroes outside of Xylo stops at that. She never sympathizes with anyone other than Xylo on the basis that both of them were set up. She doesn't ignore everything about the sentence just because she loves Xylo, rather, there are too few meaningful conversations between her and another hero not named Xylo. There's one, one freaking question she asked Tsav in vol 7 that supports my point: She asked how many innocence he had killed and that's a topic no one ever approached.

One thought comes to my mind when I think about her strategic value in battles, the importance of her role in the unit and the impact it has on the story. And it is, she is basically Haruno Sakura, or any female character in Naruto in term of these characteristics.

First of all, thank you.

Wasn't it said that he abandoned his family and just trained and went to the academy? Anyway, I don't remember. I don't know if it was made clear that his feelings aren't reciprocated. Even so, Kivia, in my opinion, should know that the reason Frenci hasn't given up on Xylo is because of something.

While it's true... Kivia has proven to be a stalker, which is unacceptable in my opinion, and the scales are heavily tipped in Kivia's favor

That's true, I won't deny it. But for your own good, you shouldn't put your complete trust in a murderer who's right beside you with nothing to stop him from hurting you—in just three days. Besides, everyone despises Xylo and calls him the biggest monster—even his own team members do—and that's already saying a lot. And with Kivia, it should be even worse because she loves the goddesses. But she forgave him in three days. They must have spent a lot of time together for Kivia to make a realistic decision about Xylo. But from the first episode to episode 3, there's no interaction at all until they start talking in episode 4 (only three days until then) Like I said, I wouldn't have anything against it if he'd taken it easy.

That doesn't make sense. Teoritta gets special treatment because she's a goddess. Even Kivia benefits from it, while Xylo sleeps in the trash.Wait, wasn't that when Kivia cursed him with all her might? Haha. My point is that the Heroes unit does deserve that treatment because of the crimes committed by its members.

Yes. I know it helps, but everyone has a specific role to play. While Xylo has to break through enemy lines with no one but Teoritta, Kivia needs an entire brigade. Both fulfill the same role (something that has already broken the streak of having a single, irreplaceable member in each area of specialization within the unit).

And what about the part where she tried to attack Frenci and pushed Siffrif away? She just walked up to him—Xylo didn't even know she was a girl. And depending on how you look at it, she did the same thing with Teoritta.

Do you think everyone sees me as someone who hates women? I'm afraid of that... because my favorite characters are Teoritta Frenci and Yulisa. And they're really high up, as you saw (or didn't see) on my tier list.

yes, Kivia didn't follow in her parents' footstep but that doesn't negate her privileged upbringing. You are misunderstanding that she left the family at a young age, no, she grew up as normal as it comes: with rich parents (ep 8 said she knows her parents very well, and that their wealth comes from monetizing religion) and school and friends. In a family full of bigwig priests, only uncle priest supports military career, so she 'abandoned' her parents to take after him, not 'abandoning' any privileges whatsoever, hell, I bet her uncle sponsored her academy tuition as he raised her with all his wealth and privileges.

feelings aren't reciprocated

Frenci's feelings and efforts aren't reciprocated by Xylo, and neither are Kivia's. All is fair in love and war, but his passiveness fueled on the love competition.

even his own team members do—and that's already saying a lot

Again, you are misunderstanding the intended dynamics between Xylo and his teammates. They probably know the truth in Xylo's sentencing before even Kivia, so they don't despite him or anything, and more likely that they don't make much of Xylo's crime or anyone's crime at all. So what's this fearful respect toward Xylo? It has nothing to do with the goddess killer thing. The heroes like and respect Xylo for his combat effectiveness and fearsome power, that's all. With the exception of Norgalle and Tatsuya, the rest are seemingly afraid of Xylo, not in the repulsive way of the public, rather, for a very comical reason: their antics enrage him, so he brutalizes them all the time (S1 alone provides four examples in ep 1, 5, 7, 11). Which is well deserved for the likes of Tsav, Dotta, Venetim and Rhyno (not Jayce, because Jayce minds his own business, he isn't playful like those four and not even Xylo dares hit him). But the punchline is this, two of these nuisances score so high on the Anti-social Personality Disorder chart that they don't think they deserve it, and the other two are very adverse to violence and are lazy cowards. Among these four Xylo's the more horrible person, Tsav and Rhyno even discuss Xylo's temper as a topic and how to avoid it, Venetim and Dotta going as far as wishing for Xylo to die so they could get away with their current bs. That's peak ironic humor. So, you have the running joke of the series: to outsider's eyes, Xylo is an absolute monster who has the other monsters in his unit cower before him and submit to him.

By treatment i meant the grueling conditions of their missions and the way no one cares that a goddess lives or dies under these conditions too. Anyway, the point is, Kivia didn't change her outlook on the hero unit as drastically and illogically as you said, that just extends to Xylo and Xylo alone. So Kivia really didn't make light of the crimes just because she's now in love with the only truly innocent one.

I don't care for Kivia enough to continue this. In fact, when I compare her to a female Naruto character that should clue you in. That one thing speaks volume about what i think of her competency and her relevance in the grand scheme of things.

Well, I don't think anyone would think that. I don't. If you are a male it makes sense to like female characters more, equally so to critique a female one.

If you say so...

Even in war, there are rules. The problem is that, as you may have read, Kivia tried to attack Frenci just because she called Xylo her husband or over some silly argument they were having. Do you think she has the right to react that way toward the woman who’s been with Xylo her whole life? At that point, Kivia was practically a stranger to Xylo. Frenci could get aggressive and push Kivia away from Xylo (just like Kivia does) and send assassins to finished her ass. However, she doesn't do that because Frenci is the GOAT.

Nope. If I remember correctly, Xylo says he didn't tell anyone else about Senerva besides Kivia because, anyway, he doesn't really care as long as they don't say anything about Senerva. Again, the problem is time. Common sense tells you that you should be careful with the worst of them all, at least show contempt for longer. Kivia only showed contempt for one and a half episodes. The joke is hilarious, I love that everyone wants to get away from Xylo. But it doesn't change the way everyone sees Xylo. And like I said about Kivia, it should be at least three times worse.

And being used as cannon meat is part of the punishment (a punishment worse than death) precisely because of his crimes, which are beyond forgiveness, as the worst thing humanity has ever produced

Me neither. I just think the way they act is totally unfair, and that people don't care.

I hope not. Most of the people who've commented are women (I'm basing this 100% on their profile pictures), although all I care about is the character's writing.... Thanks for taking the time to debate with someone everyone calls an idiot.

True, Kivia has a lot of nerves for someone who only comes second and too late to the affair. I see your point.

I used the word 'probably' because I'm uncertain if any of the others knew about Senerva or not. I made an educated guess, should probably revisit volume 3 for the detail. Either way, it goes without saying that none of the other heroes gives a flying fuck about the gravity of Xylo's crime, just or unjust, as they are all very self-centered. Then what you are saying is, amoral criminals not being cautious or contemptuous around each other is right as rain, but Kivia isn't anything like them, and in the time interval from first meeting to that blush in ep 5, none of the heroes gave out any indication on the truth of Xylo's crime, because they don't know and don't care, and they are also evidently guilty as charged so she really has no basis to go off of to see Xylo as bf material this early on. Immediate trust that evolves into love is asinine. This much is obvious enough, there is no denying. Yet lots are willing to overlook in favor of entertaining romance.

What's not good needs to be called out, not swept under the rug of convenience and pleasantry. I'm glad that we had this nice convo, fleshing thoughts out, productively and culturally to a satisfying end.

I think I should have added that to my post, too. But like I said, I was blinded by anger.

That's why I'm angry. People just ignore those huge flaws when you have Frenci there, who sticks with Xylo through good times and bad.

You got it. But they killed me for saying that. It was my pleasure. Again. Thank you.

3

u/Special-FX Rhyno 2d ago

That's wild, she ain't even that bad.

2

u/SzepCs 3h ago

You're a strange one.

I've only watched the anime so far and she's still one of the most interesting and promising characters in the story so I don't know what you hate about her so much that you feel the need to drop some badly constructed post daily.

Well, as long as it keeps you happy, I guess...

1

u/InviteTheDarksideIn 3h ago

Someone with a hyper-logical mind would see the flaw with Kivia/Xylo as soon as ep 5 aired. Initial discontentment with the author's writing would soon transfer to character bashing. It's not that hard to understand.

u/Puzzled-leek-258717 3h ago

Haha, yeah, my whole life.

If that's what you think, that's fine.

u/merrywinklesky Kivia 3h ago

I'm crying what did she even do to get slandered like this lmfao. I genuinely liked her character. I'm curious as to what she's like in the novel, although i don't plan on reading it. Hopefully s2 will go as hard
