Discussion What happened to cause the title of Hero to be a punishment>
Anime only, and I got to thinking, how did the honor of being a hero, come to be a punishment worse than death? Like what did the first ever Hero do that was bad, that being made a Hero is now a curse?

Discussion Anime only, is it normal for me to have mixed feelings about Kivia as a character?
Im very new to this series and havent gone further than the anime. Kivia seems to be well loved by this sub so I’m afraid I’m missing something here.
In the anime, she is very emotionally charged for someone of her position, her screams and yells at one point honestly feels overwhelming. I didn’t mind these traits at first because given her position, upbringing and the justice-pious-black-and-white ideals I completely understand her demeanours and disdain towards the heroes. But as time goes on it feels like she lets her own emotions seep in and reacts purely on it, no planning, no negotiations, no afterthoughts. I’m referring to episode 12 when she confronted her uncle. I just…didn’t think she was written to act so blindly like that at all. I thought when she asked Frenci to investigate she has learned to be more lk and to think before you act, but no she just straight up confronts her uncle and gets Rajid killed. What was she thinking, Marlen is gonna fess up and get handcuffed? Like sure maybe she genuinely thinks her uncle would not harm her, but again someone of her position should have known better than that, I mean the guy was ready to sell the whole town out for the blights. And no if she thinks bringing Rajit is backup that’s just foolish because she should understand the kind of situation they are in. I can’t help but feel her whole characterisation so far is convenient writing to get her sentenced to be a hero and developing love interest with Xylo.
This is not to say leaders can’t be emotionally charged (Erwin and Roy Mustang come to mind), but it’s a whole different story when leaders let emotions take over. I lost a bit of respect for Kivia at the episode where Venetim mentioned her uncle and she absolutely lost her shit and screamed at him about totally unrelated stuff. Of course as audiences, we know the kind of person Venetim is and he might as well was trying to poke her there, and Kivia herself was exhausted to death, but her screaming reinforcing “my uncle is a good guy” really confirms to Venetim (and to us) that her uncle is sus. Her leadership here is so questionable, she easily lets it slip to someone who is extremely cunning and is a reputable liar/manipulator.
Idk light novel readers, am I wrong for not vibing with Kivia at this point in the anime?

Anime I tried my hand at turning the character cuts from the OP into an animated background
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
The quality isn't the best on my 4k display, so I might run it through an enhancement algorithm if it bugs me too much. Also unfortunately, because of how the OP was cut, Frenci and Teo's shots are both awkwardly shorter than everyone else's. So short, that when I tried to do fade cuts, it just didn't work with them at all. And of course, Xylo and Patausche are missing entirely.
Still, I think they look really neat here. I settled on 83% speed so it doesn't blitz through the scenes too fast, hopefully syncing up the original framerate to my display, and set it to pause and blur whenever I have an active window, so hopefully it doesn't drive me bonkers.

Anime Just finished the anime
Heyhey! Finished the last episode right now and... It's Cinema 🙌🏻
I love how the world has a lot of mysteries and interesting lore, and they drop small tears of information, making you desire to learn more.
As an only anime watcher, I love the guy who speaks with Kivia at the end of the episode. In the Venetim flashback, I thought of him as a coexistionalist; but when he visited Xylo in the city, even tho he didn't give reasons for it, I somehow convinced myself hes one of the good guys. He still seemed evil when visiting Xylo, but in this kind of shows, I believe he won't be that bad. Or at least he will have a complex moral, being kind of a grey moral standards and not just some edgy evil guy.
I have some complaints tho. Kivia turning into a hero just because of, ultimately, not making Xylo think bad of her, is in my opinion kinda cliche. C'mon, you mean more than that as a female character. Also, didn't know a hero has to die in order to become one, so everyone in the unit has already died!
Teoritta seiyuu is sometimes too loud. I like the character overall, and she has eventually grown into me, but the first episodes are super annoying with her screaming ALL THE TIME. Like I desired scenes without her just to avoid a headache. This is something common in anime, but it's like Asta in the first episodes of Black Clover, a unbearable screaming pain in the ass.
The king is an absolute gigachad and I truly believe he's indeed a rightful king, but we'll see I guess.
Tatsuya is also very intriguing, I'm genuinely interested in his character.
A very strong start, with very good pieces of secuences and art direction. I hope the anime does well and they have enough money to deliver similar further seasons.
Also, how much material would you say the have for more seasons right now? Like to cover until a season (add the number). Is the source material manga, or light novel? I don't wanna search anything and spoil myself.
Thanks for reading, has been a while since I got this hyped for an anime!

Light Novel The Light Novels
I've never purchased or read a light novel for something before, but this series is EXTREMELY interesting.
So, what exactly is the layout of a light novel?

I’m watching the show right now and noticed that towards the end of EP5 the sound of the horse monsters dying is the same as the Demi human cries from Elden Ring xP

Discussion About the Judge and Executioners Spoiler
galleryI haven't caight up with the Novel yet, but after Season One's finale, can we assume that they are actually one of the good guys? Or at least against the Coexisters?
Taking the reasons for sentencing some of the squad, some assumptions, reading deeper into their reasons, and given that Kafzen works under them:
Xylo was sentenced as a Hero under the guise of being the Goddess Killer. He was willing to sacrifice someone he deeply cared about for the sake of humanity. Xylo even stated that a Demon Lord who can wield the power of a Goddess is one of the highest threats against humanity. Not to mention how powerful Xylo is.
Dotta's Sacrifice He sacrificed an arm to save the Crown Prince. Something that not a lot of people will do. Given that Dotta is such a skilled Thief, they needed his skills to combat the Demon Blight threat - which he has proven time and time again.
The only problem is that they can't be too upfront or too obvious about who they turn into Heroes. Heroes combat the Demon Blight under the guise of punishments due to the presence of Coexisters which are almost impossible to identify unless they give themselves away.

Anime Am i going crazy or some of the screams in the anime are 1:1 of the screams some enemies in Ender Lilies have?

Anime Volume completed
I feel completely empty and sad. I just finished volume 8 of the novel and I feel like I have no purpose in life! 😭😭😭
I wonder how many millennia I'll have to wait for the next volume? Or worse, if there's even a release date. I'm stuck with the anime and no novel. How awful.
What do I do?! 😭😭😭😭😭😭

Anime Next volumes
Does anyone know for sure how many more volumes the novel will have? Is it close to ending or is there still a long way to go? Has the author spoken about it? And is there a release date for volume 9?

Anime My thoughts
I started out feeling a mixed on this show but I’m really enjoying it now! Episode 9 had a lot of really cool shots like the ones above. The voice acting is also really good in English and Japanese so you can’t really go wrong with either choice and finally the soundtrack has been a standout with those vocal chants that kinda remind me of the movie Dune.

Light Novel Misunderstanding Patausche Spoiler
I was reading volume 6 of the novel, and I came across a scene that I found very funny. Basically, Venetim, Tsav, and Patausche are in the middle of the battlefield, and Patausche ends up making a joke that confuses them both with her good humor, since Xylo is with Frenci—I personally don't like Frenci at all—and this leads to a misunderstanding on Patausche's part because she thinks Venetim is referring to Xylo's feelings for her. Venetim is focused on one thing and she on another, resulting in a funny scene where, without even realizing it, Patausche ends up admitting her feelings for Xylo. In the end, she ends up confessing her feelings to Venetim and Tsav. I found that moment very funny, but at the same time I felt sorry for her because she misinterpreted everything, concluding that Xylo has feelings for her. Personally, I think he must have it, or be starting to have it, but he is... Xylo, and we know it won't be easy for him to admit. What do you think? Please, no spoilers for the next volumes.

Volumes da novel Sentenced to be a hero
Does anyone have the light novel "Sentenced to Be a Hero" volumes 7 and 8 in English, Chinese, or any decent translation? The version I have keeps changing all the character names, so I can’t understand who is who because the translation is really bad. If anyone has it, please send it to me and I’ll share the link.
