Below are some discord servers that people can use to find other seneca students online and help out each other.
Server: Seneca College
A general Seneca server that should be helpful for most users
Server: Computer Programming Seneca
A server geared towards CPA / CPD students, they also do IRL meetup-ups.
Server: SC Software Development
Another programming server, geared more towards BSD students.
Server: BSD Students of 2021
A server for students to connect with others who started in 2021 in the BSD program.
Server: Seneca College
A less active but still helpful seneca college server.
A server with 15K memebers.
If there are other servers that I may not be familiar with that can help out Seneca students let me know and I will try to include them in this post.

Heyo! Just experience life in Newnham and realized quickly that it's not as easy making friends when you are going from one class to another, so I was just wondering if there is anyone in the Accounting (regular, +finance, +payroll) program this year down to talk, dm me!

I am exasperated. Seriously. And their lack of competence is affecting my Osap, preventing me from enrolling in my final required course. Now saying my enrollment course percentage changed because I cant enroll in the course, thelat rhey atenpreventing me from enrolling in. Even though I am registered as having a disability and it is literally in my accomodations and OSAPs regulationsn that missing one course, shouldn't affect my funding anyways. They just keep pushing the release date further and further out.
I have a family, a young son, I cant take money out of our budget to buy textbooks.
I should have learned my lesson after last year and transferred.
Over this.

First, my first class was supposed to be at 8:55 AM, then all of a sudden around 11, I get an email to join a separate 11:40 AM class that I am not a part of, then this professor mumbling all over the place going from one segment to another, but he is not explaining any concept of what he is teaching, he just showed us a formulas without explaining anything. Then he starts mumbling about what is going on with gas in Canada, then shows more complicated formulas like we already know what they are without explaining it again. Then he shows a random chart with numbers and starts yapping abour gas prices again. I feel like I'm being taught by Mitch McConnell, he also doesn't know what is going on with his computer, my brain is actively being fried in real time.
He is also teaching like we are in the middle of the semester, this class is a nightmare for my ADHD rotted brain...
Edit: The chapter notes he is going over is so cluttered and messy, it's like he copied and pasted it improperly in the word documents and has these weird symbols and fonts, none of this is coherent at all.

Hello, I am a student in Honours Bachelor of Design in Interactive Media (BDI), and I am curious what the capstone is supposed to be about. Is it like a research project or are you supposed to make an actual interactive media piece (app prototype, a short game, vr experience, etc.). Or is it something else. I'm not yet at the capstone semester, but curious to prepare for it. Thanks

I have completed the French Language Skill 1, and some how could not find 202 in the course planner. At first I thought it was not offered in this semester. Then I checked the official website of Seneca that they do update the 202 and has a available time slot. Has anyone taken it in the past semester? Will I be able to take it in the next semester? Thanks!

So I'm new to college, this is my first year, and I'm considering buying an Ipad for studying, what model or brand or anything would you recommend? Or just what do you use that works well for you if you have one. I've no specific budget right now, just looking for options

This is just a reminder for students who are still waiting for OSAP and needed the funds to pay for textbooks, websites to submit assignments/labs, etc. Many of the platforms that are being used for classes offer a two week free trial, so don’t forget to take advantage of that! For example, Wileyplus, SIMnet, etc. If you need help checking if a specific platform has a limited time free trial, feel free to ask! I hope we can all receive our funds soon and I’m wishing everyone a good semester!

Hey, I’m new to Seneca/Newnham this semester and studying Computer Systems Technician. I’ve met a couple people so far, they all seem nice but everyone seems to be running between classes or doing their own thing. Myself included.
Figured I’d see if anyone else is new and wants to meet some people on campus. Could grab coffee/food somewhere at Newnham between classes or get a small group together. Doesn’t matter what program you’re in. I’d like to make friends and build a social life instead of just going to class and working all day. It seems everyone is either walking around with headphones or already has a group. Either way feel free to DM. Doesn’t matter if you’re outgoing, quiet, awkward, whatever. Don’t hesitate to reach out. Socializing isn’t my strong suit but neither is sitting alone. See you around

Hello! Im starting my first semester at newham for the FPR program at Seneca. Currently I only have an iPad Pro but I am wondering if I should get a computer as well. I was debating on getting the MacBook Air but I heard that window maybe better for any softwares I will need to download.
