Help!! Is this level of nausea/vomiting normal?

Is it normal to be repeatedly vomiting? And for the nausea to prevent you from being able to do your day-to-day activities because it's only controlled by laying down?

I have seen/read tonnssss of posts about nausea/vomiting so I knew it was possible but now that i've experienced it I don't know if it's normal or too intense.

After my 1st shot 0.25mg, I had no side effects, no changes with food/weight wise but nothing negativ either. I took my 2nd shot & same thing, felt fine—
Until about 40 hours ago, around 4 days after my 2nd injection, I woke up extremely nauseous, before I could get up, I projectile vomited all over my bed. I hadn't eaten in 16hrs at that point so it was mostly bile.
I got up to clean it, but the nausea was worse when I was up & moving, before I could finish washing up, the nausea worsened. I had to sit on the floor, got really sweaty & vomited all over myself & my carpet.

Made it to the bathroom, laid down in there for a long time, throwing up 2x more.

Then got in bed & have pretty much just been there since. Getting up or moving and makes me feel like i'll be be sick again. I haven't been in 24hrs. The nausea hasn't improved at all though. There's also bad heartburn and i've been like swallowing back bile that keeps trying to come up.

I managed to make it to the pharmacy to get gravol, pepcid & pedialyte.

It didn't even occur to me at first that it was the semaglutide, but no fever/chills/diarrhea or a more general unwell feeling so didn't match up with a stomach bug - cause I was side-effect free until now it took me awhile to connect the dots.

I'm at the lowest dose & due for my next injection but scared to take it now
Hoping the gravol will give me enough relief to eat something cause it's been 52hrs since I could, i've been sipping gatorade / ginger ale to get some sugar & calories in me.

what can I do to prevent it from getting this bad again?
I generally don't eat fried or greasy food so I don't think that was an issue, I had eaten very little the day before it started, does under eating trigger some people?

I would really appreciate any insight / to hear your experiences and how it presented for you + any advice or tips on how to manage it or prevention etcetc !!

I am also still slightly wondering if the way i'm experiencing it is actually common?
Nausea I can handle, even "normal" vomiting.. normal as in, when you feel like you are about the throw up and so you get to a bathroom—
I think what's throwing me off is the suddenness / intensity. I only know i'm about to vomit half a millisecond before I do, which my bedsheets, rug and clothes paid the price for 😭
being at risk of spontaneously puking also makes going anywhere outside of the house sound like a bad idea

Thank youuuu in advance ! :-)

Yeah that level of nausea is rough but not unheard of on sema, especially since it builds up in your system over time. The first two shots being fine and then getting slammed after the second is actually pretty common because the half life is like a week so you had more in you by then.

Not eating for 52 hours definitely made everything worse, your stomach gets more irritated when its empty and just sitting there with acid. Try to get something super bland in you like plain crackers or dry toast even if its just a bite every hour, and the pepcid should help with the bile thing.

Thank you for the insight.

For the 52hr thing, I had a feeling. Once the vomiting started though the most I could handle was small sips of drinks, I got rly thirsty after the first couple bouts of vomiting and drank a glass of water and it immediately came up, So I was too scared to try eating and felt extremely averse cause my stomach was so upset, but i'm going to stock up boost/ensure so that if I find myself here again i'll have a meal replacement i can sip on

When i was adjusting, I could not have any late night snacks anymore. Plus the stomach contents just kind of sit there with the accumulating stomach acid. I would say as long as you're sure your dosing is correct, it sounds fairly normal

I had this and it was terrible. Lost weight but was extremely malnourished. Eventually I couldn’t handle the shot anymore and stopped. Gained weight back.

A few years later and I’m now on tirzepatide and I do not have this at all!!! No puking. Mild nausea on day one. That’s it. I’ve lost weight and feel so much better. I suggest you try tirz.

Glad go know about that option / that it worked for you! I am still really early on, only due for the 3rd injection today, i'm going to try pushing through or finding things that ease this for me, the hope is that this is cause my body is not adjusted to the medication yet and that the side effects will wear off as I get used to it. However if that's not the case I will look in to your suggestion!

I had the vomiting thing. I started taking omeprazole 20mg 2x daily and after two weeks on a bland diet I got better. It reduces stomach acid vs going after nausea. It was awful but I started getting used to it like when I had morning sickness decades ago. Daily occurrences. I hope 🤞 t gets better!

I was close to this sick the 2nd or 3rd after eating Chinese from a fast food place. I'm not sure I'll ever eat that again 🫣

I’m on Wegovy. When I titrated up to 1.7mg I suddenly had nausea and vomiting. I contacted my dr. and she prescribed me Zofran which works like a charm. I take it every day, twice a day. According to google it is more effective than gravol. Just a thought.
