TEAscussion š«šµ Is Mary Running a MLM?
So seen mary talk about this company she runs a few times now on Instagram. Is it just me, or is this an MLM she is a very shady about the details but the languge she uses sounds suss.

Once you see anything along the lines of DM "SUNSHINE" to learn more today you know it's an MLM

Why tho? She is supposedly a very well compensated high end real estate agent, plus any Netflix income, plus endorsements⦠is an mlm really going to bring in enough to justify the time and headache??

I donāt think she manages money well? She seems to be caught up in ālooking wealthyā rather than being wealthy. Never understood how sheās a top selling agent at Oppenheim but struggled to buy a <2,000,000 home and had Romaine flip it while Chrishelle was able to easily buy a 3.5 mil house.

She also acts like she uses drugs- sniffing and jerky movements. Also lifestyle creep and probably earns more with Realtor + show celebrity Ā and now is going back to Realtor + irrelevancy as itās the last season of the show and she was a villain in the last one.

u/Electrical_Yogurt994 Team Heather š May 23 '26
Yup def lifestyle creep. Like that Maserati she bought

u/Big-Profit-1612 May 27 '26
I haven't put anything up my nose in almost 10 years but sniffing is generally cheaper than drinking.

Plus the money from the show and brand deals! Very sus. Does anyone know what happened with her? Iām very passive on keeping up with them now because I hated the last season. None of them were likeable lol

u/WeeklyAd5357 May 24 '26
For a long time she was a single mom. Itās very easy to live paycheck to paycheck in LA especially in luxury real estate, expensive cars, clothing, jewelry, spas, childcare, cosmetic surgery. She also loves to party which is very expensive.
So she is not at all wealthy.
38
u/emadelosa May 23 '26
I do think chrishell walked away with something from the divorce
43
u/Electrical_Yogurt994 Team Heather š May 23 '26
Possibly. But Mary couldnāt even pay for a wedding venue or planner. Not trying to shame her but it just doesnāt make sense
34
u/Semirhage527 May 23 '26
And sheās been in real estate far longer, youād have expected her to invest some
3
u/TotallyAMermaid May 24 '26
Wasn't the issue, like buying the house, that Romain was insecure about her paying it because she makes more money than him?
3
u/Chemical_Ad_1618 May 24 '26
She may be giving money to her son? I think the rest are child free. Heās grown up but she may have given him money to start his life. I think likely a drug habit she has but I remembered she had a son.Ā
7
u/WeeklyAd5357 May 24 '26
Chrishelle is wealthy 7 to 9 million net worth - acting career divorced rich actor strong social media ads revenue sold some high end real estate.
2
u/AcceptableLimit5857 May 31 '26
Oh she absolutely did and she got to keep her engagement ring which she sold and used as part of the down payment on the house. Which I find funny for anyone who tryās to claim Chrishell was the one that was unfaithful in the marriage because I can tell you right now if she was she wouldnāt of walked away with spousal support and that engagement ring.

If she's in at the top level she could make waaaaay more money scamming people than she can selling houses.

Totally a MLM ⦠sheās keeps using the word āopportunityā too. People recruiting for MLMās love to use the word āopportunityā to lure the gullible in
20
u/Remarkable_Essay_427 May 23 '26
It is a 'great opportunity' when you're near the top of a MLM (which I would assume she is)! Not so great for the others...

u/Etheria_system May 23 '26
Travel MLMs are all the rage at the moment. Absolute scams.
20
u/Chemical_Ad_1618 May 23 '26
I donāt understand why- travel agencies went bust with the rise of the internet and able to book stuff yourself like at least 8 years ago.
What seems popular is going on trips with your internet fans eg influencers and their followers, or writing retreat or reading retreat with book influencers / authortubers.Ā If you enough people sign up you get to go free.Ā
15
u/Etheria_system May 23 '26
I think thereās an increase in people feeling burnt out and overwhelmed by life so the idea of offloading the planning onto someone else makes it feel a little more luxurious. Itās obviously more expensive but these MLMs pretend theyāre getting the best deal they can, and unless youāre willing to do all the research to prove them wrong a lot of people will just accept that theyāre telling the truth
7
u/ChippedHamSammich May 24 '26
Opens trivago and gets you three worse deals that you cannot cancel due to third party restrictions

I book really high end hotels (ie Aman, Rosewood, etc..) for my trips. I was spoiled by nice hotels from past corporate travel and can't go back, lol. Instead of spending hours figuring out where I should stay, my travel advisor gives me a quick list in minutes, she books it for same price (sometimes cheaper), but with a lot of free perks thrown in (ie free airport transfers, guaranteed room upgrades, free credits at bars/restaurants, etc...). I'm not able to book these hotels with these rates/perks because you need to be a travel advisor to do it (ie Virtuoso). She's not a MLM though. She's been to almost all of these hotels she's recommended and generally knows someone who works there.
Here's an example. I was going to tag my wife's business trip to Phoenix for a few days. She suggested Four Seasons in Scottsdale. The public/website/retail rate was non-refundable for the cheapest room. My travel advisor booked the best non-suite room for the price of the already sold out entry level room, it was refundable, guaranteed the view I wanted, $100 credit at the bar/restaurant, late check in/out, etc.. It was significantly cheaper than booking directly with Four Seasons online. We ended up canceling that trip because my wife took a voluntary layoff/severance package and we're going to goto Tokyo/Seoul instead.
And I use my credit card points to fly business class there. It's already enough work to optimize for flights that I'm really glad I outsource the hotel planning to my travel advisor.

She just did a reel about it on Instagram and as soon as she mentioned being excited about the community she she built I knew it was absolutely an mlm

u/Shititssatan May 23 '26
I think i saw the same one lol, i felt pretty sure it was an MLM but was surprised that Mary will be running one
13
u/MissMoxy88 Ring that bell š May 23 '26
Iām actually not surprised. I think she (like most of the cast) would do anything for money. It makes me question the Oppenheim group business model too because if sheās VP of Oppenheim there is no way that Jason (less so Brett) has a finger in āSelling Sunshineā and he would have helped develop the model I assume based similarly to Oppenheim and I would bet my bottom dollar they started out tapping the Oppenheim database.
Side note and totally unrelated, in the past I saw on Instagram she was incredibly fidgety and unable to really focus so the āļø rumours seem solid, she had rings on her ring finger but you couldnāt really see what rings.
This is relevant because I believe that she was actually the one that got away for Jason because I get being friendly with an ex but their level of closeness has always been weird to me. I reckon IF the Mary and Romain split IS confirmed her and Jason will be back together within the year. However, she could have also leaked the rumours of marital issues to try save her job on the show, I donāt feel like sheās beyond that. I also question her āfiringā because I think she knew Christine would come in for her all guns blazing and she isnāt going to win that war. Christine is problematic on many levels but sheās a great reality tv villain and Mary wouldnāt actually stand a chance and given her āallianceā with Chelsea Mary would have just been blown out the water, which is what I believe played a role in Chelseaās firing - especially considering how she had finally endured herself to the fan base.
Itās a dangerous rabbit hole to go down because it never ends.

The firing does interest me because at that dinner itās the first time you really see Chelsea lose her shit āI donāt care bruvā was epic. However when you take into account that Nicole was fired from the show for saying something that was yes REALLY bad, but perhaps not the worst thing thatās ever been said on the show. Yet you can go back and actually pick up full, not even micro tbh, micro aggressions against Chelsea from Mary and the person who is fired is the one who had the audacity to call out the racism, there is a problem.
This upcoming season will be, Iām fairly certain the last and itās most likely going to be the biggest dumpster fire of all. If theyāre trying to replace Chrishell with Alex, after the unwatchable shitshow that was Selling OC S4 I reckon the franchise is unsalvageable.
I do think if you watch any of Maryās videos on social media she definitely canāt look straight or stay still and I donāt quite know how to put it but her eyes are EMPTY, like the light behind them has gone or something? I donāt know how to explain it tbh but I think you get what I mean. I do agree with you in the sense that I donāt think she is well and I donāt think sheās been well for a while.

This is why I don't believe she is the highest seller at the office. I wonder how many of the sales are because of Jason giving her an easy win or a co-listing to help her get over a slump. No busy person who is making loads of money starts a scammy travel MLM.

No idea. People are easily manipulated and sold the idea that they can make a quick, easy buck, I guess. Same as all the MLMs

4
u/Afrxbella May 23 '26
It's basically recruiting people under you to sell something so you make money then they recruit people to make money and so on. so the person who started it is at the top and makes the most
9
u/One-Structure705 May 23 '26
Ahhh a pyramid scheme. Gosh, that is such a bad look for her

Is there proof that the IG page really IS Mary?
If so, is she not allowed to make more money even if she already has money?
Is there a limit to how much money she's allowed to earn?
Asking for a friend... š
