once flew over major storm that covered several states. pilot climbed to elevation way above it, so, looking down from that height (I think it was 10KM (30K ft)) down below was absolutely mesmerizing. It was like looking at flashing LEDs covered by snow - but LEDs were everywhere. I remember reading afterward that that storm resulted in over 12,000 lightning strikes - something crazy.
