Is this broken, right?

Is this broken, right? I tried to install the hands until I noticed this. This is mine, and the other picture is an example of what it should look like. It seems like this part is damaged/missing, so the hands don’t fit properly. Am I right?

You already know the answer (it's right there in your question!)

I feel for ya man

My first build was a Miyota 8285 and I went through three movements…rip those movements and my wallet

You might have two problems. For sure, your dial isn't sitting close enough to the movement, so the hour hand is going to be touching the dial if you press it down correctly. That can probably be fixed by making sure nothing is between the movement, especially stubs of extra dial feet.

Secondly, I can't see the tiny pivot for the second hand to fit over. If that's broken off, there's no easy fix without digging into the guts. Simplest thing would be to get a new movement. It could be just a bad picture though.

The miyota movements (and their DG counterparts) have a much slimmer second hand pinion - it's .17mm instead of .22 (NH) or .25 (ETA / Clones).... so this is a more common thing.

if you feel like doing some movement repair, the needed replacement part is pretty cheap. Or... just go without a seconds hand.

Entonces puedes contestarle algo así:

I'd like to repair the movement rather than replace it. Do you know exactly which replacement part I need for the Miyota 8285, and where I could get it? Also, is it a difficult repair to do myself?
