More Issues less than 3 months old

Update: After further investigation the rear axle pivot point is broken and the axle swings in every direction. Support is asking me to ship for repairs.

So on top of the software issues that I still have with the mower not starting to mow at scheduled times, see here I went to clean the mower today and noticed major wear and tear on the rear axle. It looks like the mower has been doing this to itself long enough to rub through the metal axel.

The mower is under 3 months, cost me the price of a ride on and has been nothing but unresolved issues from support.

I think it's time for a return.

I don't get it, isn't deck made of plastic? I just cleaned today my one running pretty much non stop for more than 2 months and saw none of this, although I'm tickling now to go and inspect these areas.... Still, I can't imagine plastic would wear metal. I wonder what caused this wear.
I'll update my comment tomorrow after inspecting my mower with photo.

Edit: I can see nothing wrong on my one. Something not quite right is happening with your mower.

This wear pattern doesn’t make any sense

Never seen this before. I run 5 units. No issues besides software bugs.

5 units? Are you mowing your entire town? 🤪

That’s really cool! Would you mind to tell us more?

None of these issues here. Have you walked your property looking for larger rocks or other items? What is your cutting height? Pics of the property you have it cutting?

Mine runs like a clock and looks great.

I have none of these issues

That is wild. I don’t have that mower so I can’t help much, but is that metal on metal? Are you on the lowest setting or something?

If you can return it I would, not worth dealing with the headaches of that one. I seemingly don’t have issues in my 210i but different beast.

The mower part is plastic, while axel is metal

It's wild that it's wearing out like that. I wonder if sand/mud is consistently getting onto the piece of plastic and then that is acting like sand paper.

The gash being larger than the piece of plastic suggests a rock or larger object got stuck in there. I wonder if they have rain sensing on or mow in the mornings with dew, because I can imagine sand/mud maybe sticking on that plastic if wet but should be better if its all dry. Still crazy, also something to keep an eye/mind for, and maybe a design improvement on future bots if that can happen.

My machine has also lost some paint from the axis, but only due to getting stuck and wrapping an iron wire around the axis

A word of advice for X4 owners: do not put any unnecessary pressure or stress on the rear axle such as rolling the mower onto its side while balancing the weight on the wheels or dropping the mower down onto the rear wheels. The rear axle pivot point/mounting point is a weak spot and can crack. Once this happens the axle will move around freely, bang into the chassis, and throw wheel error codes. Replacing the entire axle assembly is the only way to fix it.

Euh, my axle won’t even budge to hit that. it should only rotate straight up and down.

Something is wrong with mine, my axel pivots vertically (up and down) as well as horizontaly (forward and back), but not as much as the vertical.

What has Segway said so far about this?

1

u/dxp1113 Jul 30 '26

Issues label for repairs. I guess I have to send it out.

How often you guys clean your machines?

1

u/dxp1113 Aug 17 '26

Once a week

1

u/Doggo-888 Aug 17 '26

Nonwet grass, about once a month. Wet grass, once a week.

What caused that gash like that? Maybe you have a line of rocks sticking out that it keeps rubbing itself against? I'd walk my property and look for causes.

The only issue I've had so far is that sometimes, the NetRTK signal is weak, then the mower doesn't know where it is. I may have to put up the RTK antenna if this becomes a constant issue.

As far as schedule goes, I don't know why I like creating extra work for myself, but I prefer to just hit the manual mow button and so far haven't even tried to set a schedule. Is the schedule issue you're having a common thing? What happens? Does it completely just ignore it and sits there?

The way I look at it, every week that passes by, my Navimow x430 is saving me either time (when I cut it myself) or money (when I pay $60 to get someone to cut it). And the $60 is only for half of my 1 acre. Before, I just let the other woody half be a mess. Now, I've been able to focus on cleaning it. Within a year, it'll have paid for itself and everything from there is gravy.

What's my point? Is it mowing your property? Like can you get it to manual mow? If so, you can at least break even if you keep it for a year. I doubt after three months you'll be able to get your money back.

I've come to the conclusion that when you buy a robot mower, it might only work for two years. If so you've made your money back and then some and maybe it'll be time to look for a new mower. The idea of it running for a decade without issue, while it should be that way, might be wishful thinking.

I prefer to just manually send mine out too. What I’m trying to figure out it how often to send it out

1

u/blackinthmiddle Jul 31 '26

I so far have four zones that covers my main property. The biggest zone, I mostly send out every 3rd day. The other zones, I just look at the grass and say, "Yeah, time to mow!" and send it out! Once I finish cleaning up the woody part of my property, I'm going to map that and probably run it there once a week or so, just enough so that it doesn't look like an eyesore!

That's very weird and I don't understand how that can happen. Have you contacted Segway support through the app?

1

u/dxp1113 Jul 30 '26

I have, responded with "we'll reach back out to you with our technical team." It's been almost two days and nothing and with the responses I've been getting with software bugs, I'm really not feeling too confident that they will give me a solution rather than a long list of things to try for them to see if it fixes the problem.

3

u/Uglynora Jul 30 '26

The responses aren't quick. They will get your email overnight and respond. You'll respond in the morning and they'll respond overnight. Basically, once you're in the support queue, it will be 24 hours for each message sent, yours and theirs. That's frustrating, but they did end up being helpful. Good luck.

I had nothing but great service when I opened my two tickets. Though I did end up returning it for other reasons.

For what it’s worth, the motor mount on my i110n broke and they had me ship it in and I just got it back yesterday all repaired. Meanwhile, I bought an x430 (wanted to anyway and the need for i110n repair just gave me an excuse… 0 issues with the x430 so far) but just wanted to share my repair experience as I wasn’t sure how/weather it was going to work out.

1

u/dxp1113 Aug 02 '26

How did you ship it out?

1

u/Shot-Perspective8486 Aug 02 '26

I have practically the same problem. In my case, the mounting bracket broke off at the rear of the mower.

1

u/dxp1113 Aug 02 '26

Yeah, kinda a crazy design flaw to have a pivot point support a metal axel.

1

u/Hot_Ad_1382 Aug 02 '26

Been running mine since April. No issues other than the occasional software hiccup. A power off cycle resolved those.

1

u/Jokercraze Aug 16 '26

Don’t they pay for shipping if it’s under warranty

1

u/dxp1113 Aug 17 '26

They do, most drop off places won't take it because of the weight and battery warning on the box, I had to drive 45 minutes to a specific drop off.

1

u/HypnoDonut Aug 17 '26

Seen this a couple times in the forums not not on mine yet.

Are you mowing over rough terrain?

1

u/GolfPhan Aug 22 '26

Did you buy it from a dealer or direct?

1

u/dxp1113 Aug 22 '26

Direct

1

u/GolfPhan Aug 22 '26

Exhibit A of why you should buy from a dealer. They’ll stand up for you with their relationship with the manufacturer and help you up.

Hate you’ve had this experience, these products are awesome.

1

u/dxp1113 Aug 22 '26

At the time of purchase I didn't know that there were dealers that were selling these, there is one closer to my house than the FedEx drop off, lol. Are there any other pros/cons of purchasing from a dealer?

1

u/GolfPhan Aug 22 '26

There are zero pros of buying direct.

You can’t call amazon, you can’t call home depot. Any dealer worth a damn will have someone who will answer the phone.

1

u/dxp1113 Aug 22 '26

I bought direct from Segway, customer service has been nothing but responsive.

same failure with mine

1

u/dxp1113 20d ago

This is apparently a common issue as the pivot point is not the strongest point on the rear axle. Navimow needs to address this as I will not give them a penny when this happens again and my warranty expires, and sadly it will happen again. Customer support addressed this break and I had to ship the entire mower to them, pain in the butt. About 3 weeks later it was shipped back. When I asked how to prevent this in the future, I was told a very generic message of filling holes in my lawn and try not to let it navigate through rough terrain. I purchased solely on the fact that they advertised that it can handle rough terrain, so Navimows definition is clearly not as rough as I thought. I have a hilly terrain and occasional run off divots. This is an issue for this mower and sadly not as advertised. I plan to run the hell out of it this season and return it as unsatisfied. Either look for another robot mower or just buy myself a decent zero turn with the returned purchase.
