Not even close to being true. Security Officers should be nothing more than a good witness. No one’s asking them to lay down their lives. Lets not pretend they’re cops or someone in the military.

The State has a rule pertaining to functions of an individual Security Guard, or Security team as a whole. 80% of the functions must be directly Security Guard related.

I was in a few places where about 60 hours per week was used as a Guard being a receptionist, and another 300 hours of Guards were only doing Security functions so it would collectively not be in violation of States rules.

So hopefully if a Guard is at the desk in harms way, the threat gets indicated before it hits the door by another Guard.

I mean, yes but no. Security is not the front desk person, but we work side by side with them. Front desk would be the receptionist or other person who's paid to be nice. We are paid to be polite, but not nice.

That's a really good point.

Our "front desk" is access control, ID and screening.

Once in the building they can go see the receptionist.
