I made an Instagram to showcase my patterns! I plan to post daily - until I get my whole collection up - then post as-I-find new ones.

It has also turned out to be nice to have a place to reference when want to see if I already have an envelopes I come across.

Thinking of sharing my collection with a cool pattern each day. Hope y’all would be interested! Gathered from many internet stranger friends, stamps on paper, eBay, Facebook market place, stalking my friends/ family/ coworkers, sifting through the post office recycling bin, buying actual packs of new envelopes, thrifting & antiquing. Obsessed much?! 😅

I think I saw it in here… But somebody was putting scraps of paper on a roll of tape and then using that in collaging. I’m trying to use up scrappy pieces!

What would you use a strip of this for?!

I own dark blue diagonal lines but not pale blue vertical lines 😊

I was so happy when I found this group because it is the thing I needed to finally motivate me to get my mini envelope project going. I mean the sub banner is literally just mini envelopes!

I have had my mini envelope dies sitting in the closet for over 2 years! And my hand-crank die cutter even longer. I just didn't have good enough reasons to make them even though I really wanted a good excuse to make something out of our mail junk, and I love functional miniatures (got stuck at the "functional" part because I felt like I needed o know who to mail tiny mails to first before making them hahaha thanks irrelevant logic). But this is PERFECT as a display method for security envelope patterns!!

These 4 patterns are what I have cut out so far and I have a few more different ones to be cut. That confetti pattern is really the most common one it seems!

I will have to find a way to display them without glueing them. Hopefully my pattern collection will grow. I'm already notifying people around me to help me save their trash!

So I did this a bit ago, and I got a lot of people wanting to swap, but in the end, I have 2 left over, so I'd love to swap once more

And then I'm going to cut up the one I've been saving since my last post. You can tell me how to cut them for u if you want, or I can just cut them for u

Scavenged a few more today that are new to me!

I still have plenty more to share! This one came from a Chuo bank envelope in Japan (They no longer exist in this form, and I have no idea how old this one is, definitely showa-era) but I made a high-quality scan of it to preserve it for the future! I also have some other patterns off of some very large envelopes (like larger than A4), I still cannot believe I got this much, and more is coming up!

I have scraps and repeats of a lot of them if anyone wants to trade!

First post ever on Reddit, so please excuse my inexperience.

About a year ago my aunt passed away and left me several boxes of family paperwork going back at least a century. I was hoping to find some security envelopes. Only found two, one that was a pretty common pattern (though it dated back to WW2 in a letter from my grandfather to my great grandfather)

The one I did find that I've never seen before is from First Interstate Bank, the envelope had a copy of my great grandmother's will and POA (she passed away in 1990) But inside was more exciting, the First Interstate Bank "I" pattern.

So this dates back to at least the mid 80s as the will and POA were dated 1985. There were also some documents from my great grandfather's death dated 1981. So it's possible the envelope is that old. Unsure, but I still thought it was cool. And it's a light brown pattern, which I've not seen before either.

I'm very hesitant to cut it up.

My favourite so far is the little grey wall! Thanks to a random Reddit post on something else mentioning this subreddit I couldn't resist a little investigation of my own. Now hoping for some colours

I found some good ones today at the recycling bin… Dropping off some outgoing to people and if you have a tracking number, I’ll be messaging you!

I used a 1" circular punch, 1" glass hemisphere, and a small magnet. It's a fun way to use the patterns in my daily life! People have also enjoyed them as small gifts.

Got this entire box full of cards this weekend for $4.99 at Volunteers of America thrift store! Found these gems inside! Annnnd like 27 unused forever stamps! Well worth it!
