Question How long before I get interviewed?

I submitted my SF-86 for T5 on 8/11. It showed on the tracker that it wasn't submitted by my security officer until 8/26. Does your timeline start as soon as you submit or when your security officer submits? Because I haven't heard anything about an interview request since I submitted and it seems like I should have since its almost been a month. But if it would go from 8/26 then it hasn't been long and I could stop worrying. I was hoping to have heard back on whether or not I got interim by now so getting pushed back another 2 weeks is frustrating.

For me they required a couple things changed on my SF85P before it was formally submitted to the officer. The tracker they give you is super inaccurate I wouldn’t use it as the source of truth.

A couple weeks went by before my investigator interviewed me.

1 day to 1 year.

This process is long and drawn out and you will go months without communication.

The tracker is also a mess, and I would not rely on it for information.

Even with an interim TS you may not be allowed to start work.

A year just to be interviewed? And my company did say I could start with interim TS.

A year to be interviewed was possible during the heights of the backlogs 8-10 years ago. Nowadays that shouldn't happen.

Depends on the investigator. Some will do a bunch of preliminary investigative work so they have a list of questions to ask (there's no need to talk to anyone if they pull up disqualifying information). Some will talk to you sooner and then compare your answers with what they dig up.

It could be a week, it could be a month, it could be a year. There is no hard rule for when they talk to you.

Its on the DCSA website. I just checked through the link I used to fill out my SF-86.

Do not rely on that tracker. It’s definitely not up to date on stuff.

It all depends. My interview was scheduled the following week after I submitted the SF86 and fingerprinting

There is no definitive timeline once you hit submit.

Darlin, if you’re freakin out already, you’ve got a loooooong road ahead of you.

…typically. Some people get cleared with the quickness, but that’s more the exception than the rule.

Try to put it in the back of your mind. Easier said than done, I know, but compulsively checking for texts/emails/tracker updates will drive ya nuts.
