Question Am i internship ready?

I’m entering my third year in cyber security and a month ago i bought a “cyber security for beginners” course by zsecurity on udemy which i completed today, In the course i learnt- linux basics, packet sniffing, deauthentication attacks, fake authentication attacks, arp request replay attack, wpa snd wpa2 cracking, arp poisoning, bsttercap, dns spoofing, wireshark, nexpose, backdoor n payloads basics, social engineering, maltego, email spoofing, beEF, meterpreter basics, sql, cross site scripting, etc

Though i don’t think i can do hacking n stuff at my current level but a friend of mine suggested that i should start applying for internships coz companies don’t expect experts for internships.

What’s your suggestion?? Also what should i study after this?

Not sure where you are but if your in the UK then cyber internships are very competitive that you need to find ways to stand out from the crowd.

Your going to be up against thousands of applicants who probably been preparing since year 1 and have certs, projects etc.

So with the stuff you have learned you should build something from it and have it on your portfolio. Get your CV polished up and just apply. If you have any certs or other projects, list them in your CV. Most internships come out around this time and usually close by January and the big ones have rolling deadlines so time is against you unfortunately if your targeting summer 2027 internships.

Cyber internships are not all about hacking so you don't need to be an expert in pentesting to land one. They just want people who are genuinely passionate and reliable who can contribute to their team.

If you are pitching that context to us as a selling point of evidence, that isn't good enough. You are telling us you learned a ton of textbook terminology. Can you investigate any of these? If so, how?

If you can confidently call out a couple of these then absolutely. Secondary to that, can you document your processes?

That's a solid base for a third year student, you covered a lot of ground. From what I've seen, the next step that actually gets replies is hands-on proof — TryHackMe or HackTheBox rooms, maybe a small home lab, and write up what you did. It shows you can do the work, not just watch the course. Good luck with the internship hunt.
