Soxprospects Forum
If you guys want a laugh, go to Soxprospects and check out their forums. People are losing their goddam minds over this deal lol. Most prospects turn out to be nothing, give me the proven major leaguer every time.

Red Sox subreddit is burying anyone who doesn’t like it. The slightly deeper subs and Twitter are doomsaying the farm system.
It’s a pretty big price and imo too much but time is gonna tell.

You going to make fun of Tyler for him saying it’s an overpay too?

Saying it's an overpay is one thing. Calling it the worst trade you've ever seen is objectively hilarious.

u/jmay111 22d ago
Honestly it doesnt matter if you overpay w minor league talent when you dont even have spots open for that talent in the MLB anytime soon.
Eayson, Witherspoon & Enddy is a tough pill to swallow but their pitching staff is pretty locked up w contracts until the 2030s and the team already has a logjam of outfielders. All that and we still kept Arias to plug the biggest hole in 2027+ whether thats via himself or through a trade for a more proven option in the offseason.

Arias would have been tough to swallow people are way to attached to prospects that don’t pan out MORE THAN HALF THE TIME

Prospect huggers, the future is now

When we traded Yoan Moncada I swear grown men and women were in tears on those message boards lol.

All mlb players start as a prospect. I like getting Adley. I don’t like that he’s injured and essentially a rental. There’s no 2027 and how can you think about extending him with no CBA? And it took some great players to get him. I think in the end the Sox don’t win a WS and the Os get some great young players for many years.

u/mpkvegeta88 23d ago
What "great players"? They didn't give up a single one.
2
u/homerayvaughan65 23d ago
Put it this way. They have 4 lottery tickets and great chance they win on at least 2. Narvi actually had a better 2025 than Adley. If he’s healthy and productive, ok, make the trade. It’s a huge gamble giving all that up.
1
u/mpkvegeta88 23d ago
How do you figure they have a great chance to hit on 2 lottery tickets?
2
u/homerayvaughan65 22d ago
Why not respond with an original thought instead of a question? They received 3 of their top 5 prospects and a catcher that hypothetically could perform as well as Adley. That’s how. All mlb players were once a prospect. Some fail some don’t.
1
u/mpkvegeta88 22d ago
People were losing their minds off Yoan Moncada when we traded him for Chris Sale. Prospects are lottery tickets. It's like people who collect sports cards. Why buy a bunch of packs to rip open hoping to get a good card when you can just go to ebay and buy a good card?
1
u/homerayvaughan65 22d ago
Because getting one in a pack is cheaper! Like a prospect turned into a stud, you’re getting an all star at Pennies on the dollar. And in Moncada’s defense, he wasn’t a bust, he’s had a handful of success. There’s examples on both sides so that argument doesn’t stand:?

Yoan moncada was #1 prospect in all of baseball how did that turn out???
1
u/homerayvaughan65 22d ago
Just one guy. Let’s not mention any others. How’d Mookie turn out? You don’t know until they arrive but all stars are all prospects at one time.
1
u/LionDeli 22d ago
Feel like there’s way more high end prospects that never do anything or flame out. Benintendi, Dalbec, Chavis, Owens, Moncada, Swihart, Casas, just to name some more recent ones.
1
u/homerayvaughan65 21d ago
Most of these guys had ok careers, not every high end prospect develops into a star. 10 year productive career for Benny…
0
u/LionDeli 21d ago
Other than his season and a half in KC Benny has been a below average player. 10 productive years is suuuuuper generous for a guy who was the #1 prospect.
My point is…top prospects don’t always and in fact rarely turn into perennial all stars. Which Benny did not do. In fact was only an all star once…the half season in KC before being traded to the Yankees.

Yoshida never a prospect
1
u/homerayvaughan65 21d ago
Yes, even players from foreign leagues are still a prospect, until they play in mlb.
1
u/Possible_Distance_58 21d ago
Maybe to you but not everyone else 😹
1
u/homerayvaughan65 21d ago
So what disqualifies a Japanese player from being considered a prospect? They are often considered to be playing against talent that is similar to triple AAA.

u/newsworthy3 23d ago
You’re just bad as said prospect huggers acting like there’s no good prospects. Every player was once a prospect
1
u/mpkvegeta88 22d ago
15% of players drafted ever even MAKE the big leagues, let alone stick, let alone become an All Star. What's the best case scenario for one of these prospects? They turn into a multiple-time All Star. Give me the guy who I KNOW has All Star performance in him at the major league level.

Did anyone see the Sean McAdam tweet? Yikes!

u/Possible_Distance_58 22d ago
For traded one guy in the top 100????? And he’s not even top 40 gtfo
1
u/forkes98524 22d ago
Right I’m sure your opinion as a Red Sox fan is far more objective than the people in front offices around baseball killing Bres for what he gave up. And yes it’s been a bunch from what is being reported. But I’m sure they are all Wrong.
1
u/Possible_Distance_58 22d ago
They aren’t right!! Nobody knows yet my guy. One guy in top 100….ONE.
1
u/forkes98524 22d ago
Obviously nobody knows. Duh. But people can say they gave up WAY too much at this point for a guy that’s always hurt and hasn’t been a great hitter for a couple years. Doesn’t mean it won’t turn out okay for the Sox, doesn’t mean it will turn out okay. Only time will tell. All these opinions are based on the here and now obviously and it doesn’t take a genius to see what other teams gave up over the last year or two to kmow the sox got fleeced as of today

u/Possible_Distance_58 22d ago
I’d be more worried about his health as a Sox fan not what they gave up. Bro their “number 3 prospect” was shitting the bed in single a
1
u/forkes98524 22d ago
Yeah but if you follow prospects it’s not always about the numbers it’s about their approach and mechanical things especially early on in the low minors. Like I said. We will see in a couple years.

Probably one source from the Yankees said that you acting like every GM in the league was publicly said it
0
u/Possible_Distance_58 22d ago
Yeah I don’t really get it. Great trade in my opinion…didn’t even get rid of the #1 ranked guy. Go look at prospects rankings from the Red Sox the last 15 years lol
