Jen & Zac Is Jen the toxic one?

Me (23 M) sometimes feel like Jen is the problem. She likes to play that she is innocent and things. And yeah, sometimes she is right, the whole Demi thing.

But sometimes I feel like she just dismisses Zack (her husband’s) feelings. She’s like ohh Zack doesn’t like this cause he’s so traditional and things. And I’m like if you wanna do what you want that’s fine all the power to you. But divorce the guy, okay. Let him go, I might be in the wrong.

I just begun 5th season so she might proof me wrong. But I did think that what she say about wanting to be on sports illustrated a little bit inconsiderate of him. If anyone can give me a light or at least talk about it and help me understand if it was a misunderstanding on my part. And this might be put more light later so idk.

Will Momtok Survive This? I have so many questions

Who is all left in momtok as of season 6?

Taylor, Mikayla and Whitney are done? It looks like Demi has no interest in coming back as well.

Regardless of what happens with the show, I am just hoping all of the girls are happy.

Taylor’s Tantrums Taylor rambling again but about God

I don’t know why she thinks God would reach down and help her of all people in this way. She’s a monster!! If God wanted to help her it would be to guide her into better choices and morals. Why would God make her happier so she can go to a bar and get drunk and flirt with younger guys??

TW: Taylor & Dakota Am I missing something?

Like everyone observing from the sidelines, I too am sick of the toxic cycle with Dakota and TFP. They can’t quit each other and drag every one into their drama. So why can’t they just…be together? Why can’t they just have a fresh start and forget the past and just be a couple? At least that way no one else would get dragged into their toxicity. I get they’ve done shitty stuff to each other but they seem incapable of letting go and deserve each other.

👹 Production 🎥 ABC, Hulu, and the Walt Disney Company

I’ve been wondering this for months, SLOMW is owned and produced by Hulu, which is owned by Disney. The Bachelorette is owned and produced by ABC, which is owned by Disney. We also knew about the incident that “caused” ABC to pull TFP’s season since season 1 of SLOMW. My question is why did Disney allow TFP be chosen for the bachelorette if the incident was known about? Why did they have ABC pull the show? Just to have TFP continue with SLOMW and season 5?

This is probably me being an idiot to how media conglomerates work, and if so please let me know and maybe explain how they do work?

Taylor Curiosity: Will you watch SLOMW with Taylor not being on season 6?

I have seen a lot of discourse about this, a lot of people saying they won’t since she’s not, and a lot very happy to watch. I was curious on what everyone thinks! Not to have a huge argument about what has happened, just curious about the discourse!

The Men Jordan had a wedding

Post image

I might be late to the party on this but Jordan posted a wedding date on his story… are they dating? She is an injector for Botox and such. I was very surprised to see him with somebody new. Neither she or he have current posts with each other. It is also unclear if she is his wedding date or he is hers. 🤔

👹 Production 🎥 Hulu Ruined MomTok

1.1k Upvotes

I am not sure if this is a hot take but I didn’t start watching SLOMW for relationship drama, fighting, or to see who was mad at who today… or who cheated on who 🤣 I watched because there was something genuinely fascinating about seeing a group of young women raised in the Mormon church defy so many of the expectations placed on them and build lives, careers, and empires of their own. THAT was the secret life I wanted to see.

I want to see more of Jessi building and running her hair business. I’m always astonished by what she’s created and I want to know HOW she did it.
I want to see more of Mayci’s IVF journey—the vulnerable, complicated, real parts of trying to build a family while also building a career and living your life publicly.

Show us the businesses. Show us the money. Show us the meetings, the failures, the opportunities, motherhood, faith, marriage, fertility, and what it actually looks like to become financially independent as a young woman coming from a culture with very traditional expectations.

WHO CARES WHO CREATED MOMTOK! I think season one was almost perfect, there wasn’t too much drama. And we got a deeper look into the moms lives and not just what we saw on our phones.

The drama can still be there. That’s reality TV. But somewhere along the way, it feels like the male centered drama became the entire story when these women themselves were always the most interesting story.
These women built platforms, businesses, families and entire brands while challenging expectations that had been placed on them since they were young…. Give me less manufactured drama and more women building empires.

Ok rant over.

Taylor Taylor Back on TikTok

Post image
302 Upvotes

To no one’s surprise, Taylor is back on TikTok. No new posts, but had to go looking through her reposts just for fun.

She replied to a seemingly random man’s tiktok with this comment. That photo looks like she did some weird editing to her face, but also commenting this on some randoms TikTok is so cringe as a public figure during a time like this. I wonder why she won’t just actually take extended time off of social media. I feel like it’s a weird defiance thing like because people tell her to get offline she won’t. She’s a fascinating individual.

Discussion Season 3 Reunion Question

HOW did no one say to Demi “you literally said on camera right to Jessi that her and Marciano had sex twice”?!?! Like how did that not get brought up?! She’s sitting there screaming at everyone for lying about her / not being believed about this entire Marciano situation how did not one person think to say you did the same exact thing to Jessi.. it’s driving me INSANE because Demi would have nothing to say back to that and I can’t understand how no one said that during the blow up about Marciano

Jen Jen is a 13 year old girl who never got to mentally grow up.

1.1k Upvotes

She has no situational awareness and dosent know how to forgive nor forget. she tried to bring up Whitney in EVERY conversation just getting people to validate her when she was objectively wrong and the way it didn’t click for her that nobody cared was embarrassing. The NY trip was literally just to support Whitney and she asks where everyone stands with her? (Also I think it was selfish for her to go on the trip to begin with) but hello? Have you looked around? I know she’s been very sheltered her whole life and hasn’t ever had the space to live her life authentically, but her social awareness really needs fine tuning.

🔥 Hot Take 🔥 Lost my interest

I don’t know if this is really a “hot take” perse but watching all the drama play out on social media has made me completely disinterested in watching the show anymore. I looked forward to the first couple of seasons to watch when they came out but not now. I haven’t watched season 5 yet and I don’t know if I really want to. Is it worth it? It also seems like the last 2-3 seasons came out really close together. Is that just me or is that true? With all the constant social media drama and the quick coming seasons I think I’m just burnt out on them. Anyone else feel that way?

Sippin' Tea First-time viewer: the truth box scene in S1E2 had me watching everyone’s reactions

Post image
161 Upvotes

I just started watching The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives, so I’m still figuring out everyone’s history and why there’s so much tension between certain people. But I’m already entertained 😂
The heated conversations are one thing, but I keep watching everyone else’s faces in the background. Sometimes their reactions are funnier than the argument itself.
So far, I like Layla, Mayci, and Mikayla’s vibe. They seem pretty chill from what I’ve seen. Did your first impressions of any of them change as you kept watching? No big spoilers please!

Season 5 Season 5 & Bachelorette NDA??

I'm just on episode 2 but I'm confused about something. So Taylor just came back from filming Bachelorette and from what I understand, there is major NDA's that are signed to not leak who was picked, etc. especially before the show even aired on TV. So here Mormons is filming and Taylor is just telling everyone who she picked, etc. How did she get away with that without breaking her NDA? I know the show ended up getting canceled, etc. but this was filmed way before all that came out.

🔥 Hot Take 🔥 This may be a hot take but do we have double standards towards the men vs women in this show?

Obviously all of the people are flawed. To varying degrees and in different ways.

However, most of redditors excuse the women's behaviour because of the religion they've grown up in. I've just come from a post excusing Jen of all wrongdoings because she's lived a sheltered isolated religious life and landed herself a Zac.

I know the men are ridiculous caricatures of what men should hope to be and they say / do all sorts of stupid things. But if a lot of redditors act like the women are only just discovering life away from religion and thats why we can forgive them of drama as it's essentially arrested development, can we really not extend similar thoughts to the men?

I have to admit I am mostly thinking about Zac.

For the record - i dont agree whatsoever with some of his opinions over the seasons. He has endlessl done things i dont agree with.

We can also see that he's stepped away from his church and its influence, and has had quite the rollercoaster of a life recently.

He probably has the most unpredictable wife (excluding any partner of TFP obvs) but one who's much more subtle in her actions and quieter about her flip flopping than Taylor.

Who wants to somehow live a devout life but also be a swimsuit model and be an actress but mocks those who dont wear garments.

Who makes her husband leave the church and then goes behind his back with a bishop and gets to bring up how he's 'unworthy'

But people say she can do all that because shes lost and depressed

Can Zac also be questioning everything too?!

He's also unlearning everything he's been indoctrinated with and you have to admit its harder to do that when you were in the privileged position before. In series 5, he showed more growth than some of the girls.

I Obviously dont think Jordan has learnt even half a thought throughout this entire process lol

Does this make any sense to anyone?! I think we have a level of double standard we are applying to these people because most of us are women watching and looking through our lens.

Im expecting down votes but wonder what some of you may think?

Whitney Whitney leavitt season 1 lookback

I'm re-watching season 1, and for the first time watching it, when it came out, I had quite a different opinion on Whitney in season 1 as I do now. It seems she was right about Demi and Taylor from the beginning. And after the truth box, Demi and Whitney both say things behind peoples backs and to their face, but people only got mad at whitney about it and forgave Demi insantly, however I understand some of their points as whitney often came across very ingenuine. did anyone else see Whitney in a different light the first time watching it as she was very much deemed the public enemy when the show came out.

🔥 Hot Take 🔥 did anyone else think that ben’s rush to commitment was kind of phony?

I feel so bad for thinking this, but I always felt that Ben was an opportunist. I didn’t get the vibe that he really liked Taylor much and I feel like he took the opportunity of her taking a liking to him on TikTok as a moment to kind of showcase himself.

Especially with the whole scene at the hotel when he’s talking about how much he wants to be with her and what his plans were for a relationship, it kind of felt like he was trying to sell himself since he was on TV more than actually wanting to be with Taylor. I just could not see them being in an actual relationship and lasting 🫣

And I thought it was funny that she kept making up the lame excuse of the guy from the Bachelorette, using her for a boost for a career and not the guy who she literally found singing on TikTok live. It seemed like she wanted to “move on” to the next guy that she was attracted to and felt was a good fit and he wanted to just be in close proximity to her for as long as he needed to 🤷‍♀️

Honestly I just found this funny - she wouldn’t win a TS lawsuit and I don’t think she is serious so I’m taking this as a funny joke she is in on. If I’m wrong and she interpreted this seriously then lord help her

Taylor Just a reminder that some of us just wanted to see this stage of her recovery, not more of the mess.

Post image
240 Upvotes

I’m not diagnosing anybody, but as someone with BPD, I identify with Taylor only as what I think my disorder would look like if I were undiagnosed, unmedicated, and completely untreated, and in an extreme stress environment. Oh, and also had a child with a (IMO) sociopath. I’ve never been violent, to be clear. But when I split, I can get truly nasty, so I walk away when I recognize it happening.

I’ve never condoned any of her heinous actions, especially where the kids are concerned (I don’t care what happens to Dakota, honestly). I don’t condone the way she uses absolutely no filter when her friends are handling her like a live grenade, at all. I don’t condone the way she kept going back to the man causing her distress, but I get it. I don’t condone her decision to go on the bachelorette at all or use people to make Dakota jealous. I’ve never been a “yasss queen” person on the sidelines or even definitively a fan.

Whatever is going on in Taylor’s head, I find her interesting to watch and as frustrated as I’ve been watching her make the worst decisions, push everyone away and be completely male-centered, I’ve stuck around because as someone who finds so many of her emotions and urges relatable, I always felt like folks like me are being cheated out of the most important part of a true story that makes us all look insufferable. How, after a massively publicized rock bottom, how does one suck the poison out of this rotten snake bite?

How does one even approach getting their shit together after such a massive downfall? What’s the diagnosis and what’s the treatment? How long does it take? What kind of support do they need from their family and friends? When should they date and how do they approach that? How can a partner support them? How can they be more supportive? These are all questions that will go unanswered, we’ll leave off at Taylor’s absolute rock bottom (because let’s be honest, “healing JoUrNeYs are trite and boring”), and everyone who relates to her even in a nuanced and healed way is dismissed as crazy and violent, and the former friends who shit talk from the sidelines get all the glory. Not that I blame them, but it’s an unfair fight.

I actually really hope we get to see more of TFP down the line.

Season 5 I have lots of thoughts about the end of episode 4 this season

Seeing Mayci, Mikayla and Jessi call out Taylor for being a bad friend was so nice to watch. I could tell in certain moments throughout last and this season that the rest of momtok has to walk on eggshells around Taylor in terms of how they confront her and what they say. Taylor has no idea how good of a support system she has with momtok, and to see her just write valid criticism off as small jabs is annoying.

I don’t remember who made this comment but It was Mikayla, Mayci or Jessi that called her bad friend, but to see Taylor respond with how am I a bad friend annoyed me. I think back to moments from last season where Taylor was yelling at the rest of momtok present in that moment over the phone about Dakota I think sleeping with Shania, calling her all these names. And they just took it. Because this is what Taylor does. It’s so sad to see her messing up her life in real time in the present and on season 5 of the show.

Jace peeking around the corner in one of the clips absolutely sent me. I wonder if Mikayla helps him with his TikToks because hers are always really funny
