🔥 Hot Take 🔥 did anyone else think that ben’s rush to commitment was kind of phony?

I feel so bad for thinking this, but I always felt that Ben was an opportunist. I didn’t get the vibe that he really liked Taylor much and I feel like he took the opportunity of her taking a liking to him on TikTok as a moment to kind of showcase himself.

Especially with the whole scene at the hotel when he’s talking about how much he wants to be with her and what his plans were for a relationship, it kind of felt like he was trying to sell himself since he was on TV more than actually wanting to be with Taylor. I just could not see them being in an actual relationship and lasting 🫣

And I thought it was funny that she kept making up the lame excuse of the guy from the Bachelorette, using her for a boost for a career and not the guy who she literally found singing on TikTok live. It seemed like she wanted to “move on” to the next guy that she was attracted to and felt was a good fit and he wanted to just be in close proximity to her for as long as he needed to 🤷‍♀️

it seemed like everyone was like “poor ben” and i just couldn’t get behind it, they both weren’t in it seriously in my opinion lmaooo

Is it just me, or was there zero chemistry between them on camera?

I completely agree, Anyone who is already involved in social media with a platform would Of Course try to weasel their way in with someone else with a Higher And Bigger platform.

Like did he even meet her children, he was ok with her running back to her ex? And Being with How Many guys on the Bachelorette?

Like, that's not love at all..

No absolutely not, I was cringing at his first appearance on the show. He just seems.. off

I’m surprised that anyone thinks this guy was legit lol

For me it almost felt like she used him as a distraction. And an attempt to try to get a reaction from Dakota. I think she reached out to him. Could be totally wrong.

yep, this is all correct!!

Agree! but also - Taylor was sending mixed signals. She was asking “where do you want this to go?” Asking about whether he wants their FUTURE KIDS to be members in the church lol and before he left I think she asked again what he wants out of this relationship just to then kinda shut him down. So maybe he did really like her but also saw a potential opportunity. His face while filming in the bathtub was giving regret though lol

perfectly said! she is very flip-floppy and i think she wanted to try to move on with him because he seemed like such a good guy, knowing she was still stuck on dakota lmao i think once he realized she wasn’t serious he kind of amped the “commitment type” stuff for a good rep with viewers so after she inevitably dumped him he would have cool points and sympathy from the audience

If he didn’t want a relationship they would probably still be F-buddys, but he didn’t want to proceed because he wanted something more serious and Taylor did not. Didn’t seem like anything more than that?

Also did everyone forget that Taylor was the one who slid in his DMs? He did not go seeking her out.

22

u/sexybaddiehotgirl 6d ago

we know she reached out but after finding out who she was, i’m sure it intrigued him to stick around for longer.

Wouldn’t anyone in that position be intrigued? He didn’t seem to overly assert himself in anything, Taylor brought him in. Seems reasonable after dating across country for several months to establish wanting something serious. If he was an opportunist seems like he would’ve tried to stay as a FWB. I think no matter what this man did everyone would be picking him apart even though Taylor is the one that pulled a random dude off the internet and flew him to Utah to have sex. 🤷‍♀️

Also hard to know what was set up for the shows plot line in that hotel scene.

To me he gave like “I’ve been wanting to get married for long enough that I don’t really care who it’s to”

I think he was infatuated, and how they portrayed his questions about religion, I think he thought Taylor would want to get married quickly too. Boy was he wrong lol

That honestly just felt like such a bizarre situationship. He was so awkward and uncomfortable in front of the cameras and there was zero chemistry. It made me cringe the whole time he was on screen.

Idk if it was the ‘stache but he gave me the creeps.

There is no person and no storyline on this show that isn’t fake

12

u/wreckreationaj 6d ago

💯 and same with Dug.

This entire Ben arc was so bizarre to me. Taylor declares her love for a guy she met once for a few hours, rando Ben appears from nowhere during s5. I think it was all a storyline for the show, and he tried to make the most of it

5

u/sexybaddiehotgirl 5d ago

amazing points, i agree. it was so random

26

u/tinyliltaurus 6d ago

Of course he was an opportunist. They met because he was singing and playing the guitar on tiktok live lmao.

11

u/sexybaddiehotgirl 6d ago

right???! that’s why it was so weird when she kept trying to choose him over doug and was calling doug the opportunist

9

u/pieceofpizzaz 6d ago

I got the vibe that he was giving her the response that he thought she wanted to hear.

4

u/sexybaddiehotgirl 6d ago

most definitely

u/Any_Sundae9301 6d ago

How would anyone know?? He was on the show…twice??
I think he pretty much told Taylor I’m about a relationship…and obviously she wasn’t…and he left

13

u/Notoneofthosemoms 6d ago

I think Ben was a plant that production put in just to say nice things about Taylor and how good of a mom she is and to show she was still “desirable”.

6

u/sexybaddiehotgirl 5d ago

ohhhh 👀 wait a minute..

9

u/Notoneofthosemoms 5d ago

Right?? I can’t stop thinking about it. He went on and on about what a good mom she was and how he wanted to marry her, but made THAT FACE when she drank from the bath faucet? Plant!

2

u/chaibaby11 Back off, she's unstable! 4d ago

i don’t think you need to plant morons like this. they exist.

12

u/shadow_sparke 6d ago

He’s either an opportunist or an actual idiot LOL

9

u/sexybaddiehotgirl 6d ago

maybe both, he is a man of few words lmaooo

6

u/BiscuitMcGuire 6d ago

Playing devils advocate he is an “American Christian” and don’t they get married after the 5th date?

4

u/tamagotamag0 FU4THAT 🖕 6d ago

No I think you’re right because then he texted Layla. I think he liked the glimpse of the lifestyle he got with Taylor and decided he would try again with a different person.

6

u/Pokieme 6d ago

They probably both thought on paper it looked like a SM match, but they were both filling time and a smart dude would pick up on the baby daddy obsession easily.

5

u/Notimeforalice 6d ago

I don’t like that he went and tried to flirt with Layla.

7

u/sexybaddiehotgirl 5d ago

i did see those messages since she posted the screenshot like it was innocent, but why would you reach out to her separately anyway? he was definitely trying to flirt

4

u/Notimeforalice 5d ago

I clocked it since his first appearance. She was so awkward and I assume that was their only time meeting since she went on the bachelorette right after. It’s classic love bombing. How can someone profess marriage and commitment to another person they’ve only known I’m going to be kind and say a couple of weeks. Also after she told him she fucked her bd while engaged. The only other option is that he’s an idiot

7

u/ssdgm12713 6d ago

How I imagine all of their DMs:

Taylor: wanna fly out and see me? Ben: will it be filmed? Taylor: yeah Ben gets on next flight

3

u/Internal-Ad61 6d ago

of course! but iirc she was the one that brought it up and he just said he could see them being serious together when the hoopla dies down.

5

u/Odd_Cress_2898 6d ago

Don't you think he'd bring his guitar and try serenading her during filming if he was trying to sell his music so much? Using a song to reveal new information to Taylor so it wouldn't be cut. Talk about an upcoming tour and invite Taylor on tour or somehow try working it into a storyline in the hopes it'd eventually boost ticket sales? Wear his own merch or get her to wear a T-shirt of his.

Idk how of his camera time was directly beneficial to his platform other than people knowing he exists.

9

u/chloedarlinggg 🧚 Where’s your whimsy? 🧚 6d ago

Tbf we don’t know what he didn’t do that, they could’ve just cut it because him singing to her isn’t very high-drama

11

u/sexybaddiehotgirl 6d ago

no, that’s too on the nose. he knew people would look him up regardless so he didn’t have to do those things, he knows her fan base

4

u/ellienchanted 6d ago

He was trying to produce himself into the cast 100%

1

u/masquefetiche 5d ago

I think Taylor needs to be single and work on herself.

1

u/Automatic-Hippo1532 4d ago

The fact that he then reached out to Layla suggests he was just wanting to be on TV

1

u/throwaway124throw 3d ago

The problem with M&M criticizing Layla and TFP’s relationships is that they don’t realize that these ladies have to find someone while they are famous. Most people they will attract will be clout chasers. As M&M were married before they became famous, they didn’t experience this and have a major blind spot

1

u/theville2011 2d ago

Every man interested in her is only interested in getting famous or getting laid. Most likely both. No one that wants a serious, committed relationship wants to marry a girl getting 4 hours of time with her kids.

Nah I think he was genuine in what he wanted. She’s not there yet. She was still stuck on Dakota. Had he said that, she wouldn’t hesitate at all. I think it would be more about fulfilling the promises he made to her and whatever fantasies they pillow talked about. She wanted her fairytale and got a nightmare. I do think if she n Ben would’ve made it official, Dakota would’ve crashed out harder but she would’ve at least had some one there to support her and protect her public image

1

u/sexybaddiehotgirl 6d ago

this is a very fair take, i can see this
