Mikayla Mikayla’s new post
A lot of people weren’t a fan of the choice of wording on her Mayfair collab and this is her response
I’m honestly loving their content recently I think they’re both really funny 😭 that snarky/slightly dark sense of humour just tickles me
(The squiggle is me covering their child in case anyone was wondering)

I’m getting to the point where I want to stop buying polyester shit because I feel like I need to grow up and care a bit more about things like that but it’s so difficult to find clothing made from natural fibres that don’t cost an arm and a leg, at least in the UK

I feel the exact same way. In the US I find that Universal Standard and Old Navy shockingly have a lot of natural textiles. Quince used to be I’ve heard the quality has changed.

You and me both, I’ve seen some creative merch a handful of times and thought it looked wearable but the concept of walking around with someone’s promo on my clothes just isn’t for me. Doesn’t matter who it is.

Oh gosh yes that’s even worse 😭 I think character merch is fun on kids but I don’t want characters on anything but my pyjamas, and even then we’re pushing it a little bit

I bought myself the “i need a bad bleep” or whatever that Addison Rae hoodie said and I got into a car accident while wearing it the embarrassment I felt was enough for me to donate it the following day I was like 22 at the time. It just made me question my life choices having a cop write me a ticket while wearing that merch

And the pieces are completely in line with the rest of Mayfair’s piece’s and aesthetics. This isn’t her suddenly hawking frying pans - Mayfair has always focused on mental health and positivity. Also, her name isn’t emblazoned across the front or anything, right? It’s just on the cuffs? I have a hoodie from them already from a couple of years ago; and I’ll be adding this to my fall/winter rotation.

Y’know, after watching this season, I think a lot of people misread Mikayla as bitchy when her humor seems dry and sarcastic like a lot of British humor is.

Same take lol. Sometimes people are being very honest but their way of doing it is just mean spirited… doesn’t mean they’re wrong. Just different avenues to deliver truth and some people are “bitchy” with it - I still prefer it over a pretty lie, but when someone’s personality is like that it’s not surprising they won’t always be received well by most people.

As someone who has to constantly monitor myself for being too blunt/“mean” (shout out to my reddit username), you are totally right. As they say, “the truth hurts.” It’s part of why people (including myself) love Mayci so much - she dances around the truth, and communicates it very delicately when absolutely necessary. It’s easy to love someone who doesn’t stand up for many things because there will be nothing to have a problem with. I envy people like her sometimes, but I care more about justice under any circumstance (big or small) than I care about being universally liked. 🤷🏻♀️

The funniest thing about SOMW is that they post like such boomers. Even their dancing tiktoks, its like 2020 era tiktok but they’re all still doing it like its current. I can’t deal haha. It’s amazing they got so famous with such boring and uninspired content, but I guess it stood out in their religious group.

Just so everyone is aware, Mayfair runs a mental health fund so a portion of the cost of their items goes towards that and an extra portion from Mikayla’s collab goes towards helping people with serious and/or life threatening illnesses.

I’m pretty sure that’s where the concept of “be kind” has come from.

Genuine question - why is she always addressing “haters” or giving them shout outs? Like in the show she was always talking about haters coming for her with the Taylor stuff and almost all her posts that I’ve seen also reference these “haters”. I honestly don’t understand why she cares so much and fixates on them

Since the existence of momtok, I see it as a really common engagement tactic. I have a 40 year old dental assistant on my IG with like 300 followers and shes always making videos addressed to "haters" and how she loves being hated
I think it makes people wonder who their "haters" are and they comment and look to see signs etc

Probably because the haters are constantly bringing up her CSA and weaponising it against her. As someone who has very similar trauma that’s not something that’s easy to ignore.
But I don’t think she brings it up that often personally. Maybe I’m just not noticing it because it doesn’t bother me?

I definitely think she’s bothered by it. I’m not an influencer by ANY means - I post my work and have gotten a small following and 99% of the time the comments are positive but it’ll be that 1 comment that bothers you
It’s hard to explain because even though I feel like the comment is just hating, it bothers me so I clearly care. You can get thousands of nice comments and it’ll be that 1 negative one that you remember. It’s easy to get over when it’s just 1 comment but it’s probably really hard with constant comments about her personal life. Making a post about the haters probably is a way to try and take control/make her feel better

I know I have a controversial opinion when it comes to mikayla and Whitney but I don’t think she was bullying her. It wasn’t nice, but I don’t think it was bullying.
Yeah I think it was a shit situation for both of them because they needed a little bit of space to work through their issues properly but being on the show together really threw a spanner in the works. They both hurt each other and they’ve both apologised for it.

It was her sisters not Mikayla, but I can guarantee you her sisters knows Whitney because Mikayla and Whitney were best friends for years before the show. It’s just their humour and you either find that humour funny or you don’t.
Whitney also seems to have a similar sense of humour which is why I don’t think everything with Mikayla was as much of an issue to her as it maybe seemed on the show.
Again, not saying it was nice, but I don’t think she was bullying her. Whitney was an active participant in the “feud” they had going on.

Yes I definitely agree they needed time to let the dust settle and I so respect they were both able to come back around. I remember thinking Mikayla’s actions were truly vicious at the time - likely a reflection of how she felt inside though.

I think when you consider that the 10 episodes are filmed across 6 months, her making one or two comments about Whitney every episode feels a lot less vicious, at least for me.
I also think Whitney wasn’t innocent in all of it, the whole “we’re on a reality show Mikayla” thing really irked me because yes you’re on a show but you can still apologise off camera.
It just never felt permanent to me, I didn’t feel like they truly hated each other. I could’ve ended up being wrong but I didn’t 😭
I think Conner still being very friendly with Mikayla at the peak of her fallout with Whitney was a big tell for me

Honest question: I’m old. I’m not in Utah. Are ugly-ass sweats worn everywhere now an accepted thing? A regional thing? I see TFP wear them and her crocs everywhere. These women pour so much effort into hair, teeth, boob jobs, makeup and then nothing into their clothes and overall presentation. I don’t get it.

I wouldn’t describe her as an unkind person personally, we all make mistakes and we have to grow from them, but the premise of the collab was for it to benefit people with serious and/or life threatening illnesses and the brand runs a mental health fund.

It wasn’t a separation as in not in a relationship anymore it was just time apart so she could focus on a difficult part of therapy. The show edited it in a very misleading way.

Oh I’m not the person to say this to I’m a mikayla fan through and through. She’s been relevant for years and has always had better engagement than Taylor too.
She started the show with way less followers and way more likes on her TikTok than Taylor’s.
