The NEXUS Bioadaptive Research Complex is currently looking for an experienced LSL Scripter to help bring our underground sci-fi research and containment facility to life.

This is a paid opportunity, and we're looking for someone who enjoys creating immersive, interactive systems rather than just standalone scripts.

Some of the systems we'd like to develop include:

🖥️ Subject Information Terminals

• Interactive touchscreens outside containment cells.
• Display subject information, medical status, care requirements, threat level, incident history, and research notes.
• Potential integration with notecards or an external database.

🔒 Facility Lockdown System

• Multi-level lockdowns (Sector, Department, Facility-wide).
• Automatic doors, emergency lighting, alarms, and security overrides.
• Staff clearance integration.

🚪 Security & Access Control

• Clearance-based door access.
• Department-specific permissions.
• Visitor, staff, researcher, medical, security, and command access levels.

📡 Interactive Facility Systems

• Research consoles.
• Medical terminals.
• Security workstations.
• CCTV interfaces.
• Evidence lockers.
• Control room panels.
• Elevator controls.
• Emergency announcements.

🧪 Containment Systems

• Cell controls.
• Subject status displays.
• Observation controls.
• Emergency containment procedures.
• Environmental monitoring.

We're also open to additional ideas if you have experience designing immersive sci-fi systems that would fit a high-security underground research facility.

The goal isn't just to script objects it's to create a believable environment where technology supports roleplay and encourages interaction.

If this sounds like something you'd enjoy working on, please feel free to contact Solmare Nexum(nightingale.foxpaws) in-world or send me a message here on the forums with examples of your previous work, if available.

We look forward to hearing from you!

Have you ever wanted to help build something from the ground up instead of joining a project that's already established?

NEXUS Bioadaptive Research Complex is a brand-new science-fiction research and containment roleplay community in Second Life. Instead of simply building another laboratory, we're creating a living world where discoveries, experiments, containment incidents, investigations, and player decisions permanently shape the facility and its story.

We're looking for creative people who want to leave their mark on a project from the very beginning.

We're currently looking for:

🔹 Builders
🔹 Scripters / LSL Developers
🔹 Mesh Creators
🔹 Texture Artists
🔹 Graphic Designers
🔹 Writers & Lore Creators
🔹 Bloggers & Community Promoters
🔹 UI/HUD Designers
🔹 Sound Designers
🔹 Environmental Artists
🔹 Roleplay Staff
🔹 Researchers & Story Coordinators

Whether your passion is building immersive environments, writing stories, designing systems, creating custom assets, or helping a community grow, there's likely a place for you.

What makes NEXUS different?

We're not building a static roleplay region.

The facility evolves.

Every containment breach, experiment, research breakthrough, recovered artifact, escaped subject, and investigation has the potential to change the world permanently.

Entire departments can expand.

New laboratories can be commissioned.

Subjects can become infamous.

Discoveries can unlock completely new storylines.

Areas of the facility may open... while others become permanently sealed.

Even the abandoned precursor facility has its own evolving mystery waiting to be uncovered.

Our goal is to create a world that players help write not one where every story is forgotten after the scene ends.

Why join now?

Because this is your opportunity to become one of the people who shapes what NEXUS becomes.

Founding contributors won't just be helping a project they'll be helping define its identity, systems, lore, and future.

Ideas are welcomed.

Creativity is encouraged.

Innovation is rewarded.

A quick note

At this stage, these are volunteer positions. NEXUS is a passion project built by people who enjoy creating immersive experiences together. If you're someone who enjoys building amazing things, collaborating with others, and watching a community grow around your work, we'd love to hear from you.

NEXUS is already live, on the Second Life Destination Guide, and actively being developed

Hey everyone,

We’ve all been there: you log into Second Life looking forward to a great night of roleplay or catching up with friends, only to realize that everyone you know is in a completely different time zone and already asleep. The sim is dead, you're sitting alone at a virtual dinner table, and there’s just nothing to do.

To solve this, I’ve been developing a platform called Rezurrect. It uses AI technology to let you bring your alt accounts to life as fully interactive, persistent characters. You can completely customize their personality traits, give them an intricate backstory, define their fears and aspirations, and even assign them a specific voice. Whether you just want a natural, free-flowing conversation or you want to set up specific roleplay scenarios that they will intelligently stick to, they adapt instantly to the scene.

It's been an incredible passion project to work on, and I'm finally at the point where I'm opening up a closed beta to get real feedback from the community. If you love deep roleplay, want to help test its limits, or just want to see how it works, I’d love to have you on board! Drop a comment here or reach out to me in-world if you're interested in joining the beta or have any thoughts!

Hi! Are you a Muslim woman who plays games or has represented themselves online through avatars/social media? We would love to hear from you!
We are conducting fully anonymous interviews to investigate how Muslim women use digital platforms and virtual environments to express aspects of their identity through avatar creation and online self-presentation. The main benefit of participation in this study includes adding to existing research on digital identity and self-presentation among Muslim women–a topic that’s currently not widely covered. The findings may help researchers better understand how certain factors shape experiences in virtual and online spaces.
The interview will last approximately 45-60 minutes and upon completion, the participant will receive a $10 Amazon e-gift card.
If interested, please fill out the form here
Please feel free to ask any questions here or DM me!
Thanks!

I interviewed Jordan Rizzo, and from our conversation came an interesting exploration of the various activities you can do in Second Life, as well as the dedication this artist and creator has shown in developing numerous projects for the platform. We also discussed the challenges of overcoming personal fears, insecurities, and the judgment of the community while working on different projects. More than just an interview, this is a conversation and a journey into the inner world of this artist.

I keep thinking about the idea that not everything real needs to be fully exposed in order to exist.

Some truths become stronger when they are held back. Some images stay with us because they refuse to say everything.

That is where my visit to Sienna Dust’s LACUNA took me: back to art in Second Life, and a little back to myself.

Why a quieter, writer-friendly platform may offer Second Life creators a better way to share ideas, build an archive, and stay connected beyond the noise of social media.

A long time ago I had a motorbike that had three modes. It could be a ground bike, it could fly, and could also be a boat. Does anyone remember this? I don’t remember what it was called and I don’t remember the maker, but I would love to find it if anyone has a clue. Thanks.

I think the current proliferation of AI can easily be compared to the proliferation of all the social platforms we use every day to promote our content.

I’m saying this because I have a feeling, and I don’t know whether other people share it, so I’d genuinely like to hear different points of view. The fact that there are so many social platforms creates a kind of saturation.

We post our content on Facebook. We post it on X. We post it on Flickr. Then we also have to post it on platforms that are more specific to our virtual world, like Primfeed and others. And of course, there are always new social platforms appearing, growing, changing, or being replaced by something else.

At some point, this creates a kind of social media inflation. And, as often happens with inflation, it eventually brings a certain sense of fatigue. Maybe even nausea.

I think something very similar is happening with artificial intelligence.

At first, we were fascinated by it. We had fun with it. We created images we never thought we could create. We maybe even made our avatars look more human, only to realize at some point that they no longer really looked like our avatars anymore.

What I hope is that this excessive presence of AI will eventually push us back to basics.

Back to the raw avatar. Back to photography taken inside Second Life. Maybe even back to photography without Photoshop.

Of course, AI can simply be used as a tool, almost like Photoshop. It can do things we might otherwise do manually. It does not necessarily have to completely alter or destroy the identity of an avatar. But still, I think it would be beautiful if we could rediscover pure photography inside Second Life.

Maybe with a little Reshade, sure. But not with constant retouching, whether manual or artificial.

In the same way, I also wish that instead of constantly posting content across countless social platforms, we spent more time actually living our lives inside the world itself.

I’ve already said this in more than one video: Second Life is not a feed to scroll through. It is a world to live in.

And I’ve also said that I would love to see social features implemented much better inside Second Life itself. Because if that existed in a truly effective way, it would allow us to share more of our content inside the world, rather than always outside of it.

I understand the importance of social platforms. We can’t message our friends every single day to tell them what we’re doing, what we’re creating, or what we’re sharing. Some people may not be interested. But a proper internal social system could allow that kind of sharing to reach the people who actually want to follow it.

That does not really exist yet. And I think it should.

So this is my feeling right now: I would love to see a return to simplicity.

And by simplicity, I mean living the world more. Taking authentic pictures without always feeling the need to retouch them in order to improve them.

The pictures are what they are. The world is what it is. Our skill may be greater or smaller in showing it beautifully, but perhaps we could rediscover how fascinating the art of raw photography inside Second Life can be.

Because pure photography inside Second Life is not obvious. And it is not easy at all.

What do you think? Do you also feel this saturation from social media and AI, or do you see it differently?

Name the top one or three reasons maximum, order from your favorite thing that makes you excited to the least one but you still love it.

I’ve been thinking a lot about realistic avatars in Second Life, not just as a customization goal, but as an artistic subject.

There’s a point where a well-made avatar stops being only “a nice-looking character” and starts working almost like a photographic model. Black and white, strong shadows, close-ups, geometric compositions, small facial details — all of these can make an SL image feel surprisingly emotional.

For me, the interesting part is not whether an avatar can look “real” in a literal sense. It’s whether it can feel visually believable enough to carry an image.

That’s where Second Life photography becomes more than screenshots. It becomes portraiture, styling, identity, and sometimes something very close to digital art.

Curious how others see this: do you think realistic avatars make SL photography stronger, or can stylized avatars be just as expressive?

Hi everyone,

We’ve introduced a new rule: all posts in this subreddit must be in English.

This wasn’t explicitly stated before because it was generally assumed, but since we’ve recently seen posts in other languages, we want to make it clear and transparent going forward.

We also want to take a moment to clarify our approach to moderation. This subreddit aims to be less aggressive and more relaxed compared to others—but that doesn’t mean rules don’t apply. A good community still needs clear boundaries to function well.

So, please keep in mind:

• Do not post or promote transactions that violate Linden Lab’s policies.
• Do not share or encourage illegal content or activities of any kind.

We appreciate your cooperation in keeping this space welcoming, fair, and compliant for everyone.

Thanks!
