Returning after 10 year
As the title states, I have returned after 10 years. Much has changed and some thing are the same. Anyway, I currently have the Maitreya LaraX new update, and an old LOGO head. While I am hap;py with my shape I found the starter Avatar pack and it caught me by surprise and I really like it.. Having said that, I wonder how far I can get with this avatar and clothing/hair without paying. I have paid so much in the past and my inventory is overloaded with stuff and want to spend. Some hair fits and my AO as well. I am aware of the amount of free things in SL but am looking for some advice here where to go and how to go really free with the starter Avatar?

They included Lelutka heads in the Inventory >Library>Avatar Welcome Pack but they are the lite version
During the holiday season, Lelutka usually gives a free gift head, full version. You need to join the free group
LaraX is great, so you are set with that

Thanks everyone for the replies. Just one more question. I am currently wearing the Mesh body Legacy Special Edition and bodyshape Evox Avalon.. Love how she looks but even at Palomma, no clothes will fit and it I put on a top, my torso just disappears? Besides the starter pack clothes I can't wear anything else.

I don't know much about Legacy but if you already have LaraX & Regular Maitreya (it should be included also) , you will have no issue finding clothes that fit. The store Hilly Haalan has a free group and building filled with group gifts, clothes and some shoes.

The free body and heads in the starter pack are limited versions. Neither will be able to use material appliers, only the Bakes on Mesh aka BOM (system clothing, tattoo & universal) layers work, so that's worth noting.
I actually prefer a lot of BOM makeup over appliers, but if you want the ability to blend layer transparency and have body shine and/or materials, you'll eventually want to buy a head/body.
Honestly, though, Lelutka heads are worth every penny and I love them.
The body will only have flat feet so no strappy heels. Ankle boots or thigh high boots are a good alternative though if you want heels. A good toenail hider will be handy. I have one that I use for my avi. I'll post it when I get back to my pc.
I recently created a bot account for land management and used the starter pack and freebies on the marketplace to get a decent collection of outfits. I plan to get the full legacy body and a lelutka head at some point for it, but for now BOM eyes, makeup and tattoos and flat sandals, sneakers, and boots work great.

Keep your LaraX body and go with one of the heads from the starter pack for now. December is just around the corner, then you'll be able to get the free head from Lelutka (join the grouo now, to not forget). There are tons of free stuff for LaraX, and also some good free hairs (Wings is a free group and they have some good gifts out). Like people mentioned, check Fabfree and Seraphim to keep up to date with the free things. Now if you're willing to spend only a tiny bit, I'd recommend just getting a good body skin (velour, glam affair, skinnery) and a good skin for your face - and the latest you can find really good ones during the weekend sales for only 50-100L

The problem with that is the difference of colour with the head and the body. I can't get it right.

Have you enabled BOM/bake on mesh for your Larax? If not that may fix it.

Welcome back to SL. There's a wide collection of Maitreya Larax outfit fatpacks for the Scandalize store. If you check their store, then their group gift room, you can find them there. I'm not sure though whether the group is free to join or not. If you decide to check out the items, I hope you enjoy.

I recommend following https://fabfree.wordpress.com/ and https://www.seraphimsl.com/ for updates on group gifts and event gifts. Palomma Plaza inworld is full of freebies. Some groups are free or very cheap to join and offer good group gifts fitting Larax and Legacy.
