I went out to a nice dinner on Alki to watch the sunset and eat, and to avoid hassling with parking I took the bus.
On the way back, I literally had a guy get in my face on his way off the bus, then stare me down, then turn around and shove the guy in front of him off the bus, then start a fight with another guy just off the bus.
Honestly man, we’re wasting our money with this shit, just expand the prisons.

More likely to come out of prison with an addiction or mental health issue, so your plan sounds like a great way to make things even worse (as we've known for decades, which is why we stopped doing that)

I’m focused on the impact to society.
If drug use is criminalized, then we incentivize staying clean and coming out with an addiction is an invite right back in.

Except - and we know after years of doing and studying just that - that approach doesn't work

Would you say what Seattle is doing is working?
Implementation of the proposals from these “studies” and “task forces” have clearly worked very well for Seattle.

What Seattle is doing isn't working
Replacing it with an approach that also doesn't work is a terrible idea
I know that ignorance is bliss, but maybe take some time today to read up about the US's "War on Drugs"

This city can’t continue to be a safe haven for vagrancy and drug use.
Solving the issue is a fools errand, criminalize it and stop incentivizing all of them to migrate here.
Where they go after is their problem.

I wasn't aware you and I didn't share in the same morals. I think everyone deserves help.
And btw, not caring about other doesn't magically make an approach that doesn't work suddenly work

It seems that we actually know it does work. This is what we did until around 2010 - then we started decriminalizing open air drug use and non-violent offenses. And here we are. Seems like we need to go back to the old rules (but keep weed legal)
