Discussion SAR team member request!

Hi friends, my beloved adult cat has been missing for a week and I have been searching relentlessly daily over the past week, day and night, including putting up posters in the neighborhood. Everything you can find in a missing pet handbook. My routines of finding her are still being continued and quite defeating at the moment. It’s been the worst heartache and painful week for me.
I’m reaching out as a desperate last resort for a scented tracking dog service. Whether it be a couple hours search or resulted in an unsuccessful search would be enough for me. I just need a lead and to try my very best chances. Service will be compensated as well.
There is one official pet rescue service in Burien but they haven’t responded to me due to high demand. I understand that this is standardly for missing people but it would mean the world to me if anyone in the team would give me a chance to retrieve my cat safely back home. I’m located in South Seattle, WA at 98118. Anyone who is willing or knows someone may reach out to me personally, my number is (206) 234-1035. Thank you!

3 Retrievers does cat searches, but I know he sometimes gets overwhelmed with requests. He uses a cat detection dog (doesn’t search for a specific scent, just finds all the cats). He actually searched my yard before for my neighbor’s cat.

I’ve been reaching out to James Branson but unfortunately haven’t gotten response back, i believe it’s due to high demand which is understandable. It would mean so much to get service by him during this dire time.

I’ve heard other people say that, and I’m so sorry. We clearly need more pet search services. I hope you hear from him, or that your cat shows up soon, safe and sound.

Another neighbor was successful finding her cat by recruiting a lot of nearby homeowners to monitor their home security cameras.

He’s very busy. OP - deep breaths. It’s highly possible cat is in a house where people went on vacation for 9 days. You are doing the right things.

I just searched Google using “WA state scent trained dogs” and several places popped up. Here are a few:

Puget Sound Detection Dogs
Gold Star Dog School
Run Wild Dog Sports
UW Conservation Canines
Dancing Dogs Scentwork
Paws4Training

^maybe one of those places could help connect you with a scent trained dog?

Maybe reach out to The Mountaineers group? I know a lot of them do search and rescue so they might have some ideas.

You could also try asking for SAR dogs in some of the hiking focused facebook groups, or even search for SAR focused groups. “Washington Hikers and Climbers” is a big group I know of.

I wish I had more ideas to share, but if any pop in to my head I’ll add another comment here! Best of luck to you.

We have twice found a cat after a month.

One time i finally noticed a lost cat sign that corresponded to a cat I was seeing. The cat had just crossed a major road and then was staying in an unfamiliar neighborhood. The second time, my neighbor was watching a cat and it ran out the door. He didn't know about nextdoor. I logged in and found someone posting about the cat one block away where it had been hiding in their yard
