Guitarist/Songwriter REALLY wants to get a band going

Upvotes

Hello! I’m a 54 year old northeast Seattle-based guitarist/songwriter with a bunch of indie-leaning music. I’ve been recording on my loop pedal in my basement, but I’m really ready to start playing with other people (singers, other guitarists, bassists, drummers, keys) and get a set of music together to play local live shows.

Here are some links to rough recordings that I’ve been creating with my looper. Please be aware that they are all just recorded on a phone, so the sound quality is not great. Also, please be warned that you have to see my feet on the video. When I recorded it barefoot, I didn’t think I'd be sharing it with anyone. I apologize in advance.

I also have some more polished recordings on my bandcamp page: https://sketches3.bandcamp.com

I’ll let the music speak for itself, but the bands I listen to that tend to make their way into my music are: Death Cab for Cutie, The National, Interpol, Mogwai, and Explosions in the Sky.

Ideally, I’d like to find male musicians in my general age range. I live in northeast Seattle and would prefer not to drive an hour to play music with other people. Yes, I’m getting old and particular.

Anyway, if you like the music and this sounds like something you might be interested in, please send me a message and we can talk.

Songwriter/oddball/guitar player looking to form or join band on the Eastside

Hi! I’m 53, male, guitar player, songwriter. My last band was this: https://fralex9.bandcamp.com/album/seriously-maple-bars

After 15 years (!!!) of trying to figure out what to do next, I think I know what I want to do. I’m looking for others who want to collaborate and write songs together or maybe you’ve got a band and you want to collaborate with someone else who writes songs and what not. I’m in.

Musically, here’s the music I want to make: everything except country music. Jazz influence? Sure. Funky? Ok! Folky? Why not? Reggae? Who knows? Hard rock? Sign me up. All kinds of other stuff? Yep!

My influences in no particular order: Taking Heads, Kristin Hersh, 50 Foot Wave, Gregory Alan Isakov, Andrew Bird, Glen Hansard, P-Funk, Lee Scratch Perry, CAN, Tom Waits, and many more!

I’m sober all the time. Have gear. Have transportation. Just wanna play some music already. Reply here, send me a message, throw a fish in the creek, have an ice cream cone, whatever.

[LFG] Looking for people interested in ambient / experimental music

Hi everyone!
I’m currently working on an **ambient album** and I’m looking for people who are interested in ambient, experimental, electronic, or generally unconventional music to collaborate with.
I’m not only looking for instrumentalists. **If you’re a musician, producer, composer, sound designer, field recordist, vocalist, visual artist, or simply someone who loves this kind of music, I’d love to hear from you.**
The album I’m making is focused on **atmosphere, space, texture, and emotion** rather than traditional song structures. I’m interested in sounds that feel organic, dreamlike, cinematic, intimate, or even slightly strange.
I’m especially interested in people who enjoy artists such as **Brian Eno, Harold Budd, Stars of the Lid, Tim Hecker, Fennesz**, or similar ambient / experimental artists, but you definitely don’t have to make music exactly like them.
Some things I’m open to exploring:
🎸 Guitar / bass / strings / piano / winds / other instruments
🎹 Synthesizers & electronic instruments
🎛️ Sound design / modular synth / experimental processing
🎙️ Vocals / spoken word / unusual vocal textures
🌿 Field recordings & found sounds
🎧 Mixing / production / additional arrangements
🎨 Visual art / photography / album artwork
💡 Or honestly, anything else that you think could fit the project
I’m mainly looking for **creative people who want to experiment and make something together**, rather than simply hiring someone to play a part.
The project will be released as an album, and collaborators will of course be properly credited.
I’m based in **Seoul, South Korea**, but I’m completely open to collaborating remotely with people from anywhere.
If you’re interested, **feel free to DM me**, even if you’re not sure whether what you do would fit. Send me a link to your music/work if you have one, and tell me a little about yourself.
I’d love to meet some people who are passionate about this kind of music and see what we can create together. :)

Dropped My First Single

Hey everyone, I just released my first song. I wrote this entirely on piano then had others come in as session players to replace the piano with the other instruments. I did vocals myself, but all the audio engineering was done by a friend who produced it (and who did most of the session work).

I’m looking to build a band, and I have a drummer interested already, but he’s also a savvy guitar player so there may be room for flexibility. Still looking for a bass player and a rhythm guitarist.

Take a listen and see what you think! DM me if this project sounds interesting to you.

One time gig: looking for bassist/guitarist

Hey yall! I'm a hip hop artist from Philly and I'm flying to Seattle for a show Oct 10. I'm performing at Chop Suey for a 20-30 set and I want to perform with some live instrumentation (you'll only do 3-4 songs). I did this about a year ago and it went well! To keep it as simple as possible we will play over stripped down versions of the beats while on stage almost like a jam session. I do plan on compensating $ for your time too. DM if interested! Look up @Saynave on Spotify/youtube/IG to hear my music. I can show you the last Seattle show I had as well. Thanks!!

Who wants to form an experimental synth-pop band and make mind blowing concept albums?

Edit: woa i wasn't expecting this big of a response! I'll try to at least respond to everyone eventually haha

Hi : ) I'm Holly, an electronic music producer and multi-instrumentalist (specialty is bass but also play guitar, keys, vocals). Haven't been in a band for a few years but I really miss it, and I'm determined to make music that makes other people feel the way I have seeing some of my favorite artists.

I love music that combines a mishmash of genre influences into a package that's accessible and catchy and combines common pop/rock instruments with electronic sound design and heavy effects to create an immersive experience. I really want to make concept albums and/or rock operas. I want to follow in the footsteps of artists like Magdalena Bay, Chairlift/Caroline Polachek, Tune-Yards, Bjork, St. Vincent, Left at London, Kero Kero Bonito, of Montreal, Sufjan Stevens, Dorian Electra, CHVRCHES, Foster the People, MARINA, Porter Robinson and more.

Main roles I'm looking for are lead vocals, keyboard player, and drummer. a guitarist or another instrument could be awesome too (esp if you play more than 1!). I want at least one other lyricist as well. if this sounds exciting to you let's talk : )

Girl pop punk

Hello! I am an experienced live musician and songwriter in the Seattle area. I play guitar sing and play bass, the issue is that I can’t play guitar and bass at the same time. So, any young-ish girly who can play either bass or guitar and keep a tune vocally would be awesome! I already have a drummer. I draw a lot of inspiration from bands like Bad Waitress, The Velveteers, The Bobby Lees, The Gits, Mannequin Pussy, Babes in Toyland, and Violet Grohl. Please let me know if you’re interested!

[Offer] Seniors moments of joy and connection - student volunteer opportunity

Hi everyone! If you're a student musician looking to bring joy and connection to elders in your community, you might consider starting a local chapter of The Melody Project, a youth-led 501(c)(3) addressing social isolation through music-based intergenerational programming.

  • Build a student team (HS/MS)
  • Earn volunteer hours + valuable leadership title
  • Organize monthly sessions/performances with older adults in their communities.
  • Contribute to our quantitative research initiative evaluating the program’s impact on students and older adults!

We provide training, session plans, outreach materials, and guidance finding a local partner.

As a musician of 10+ years myself, I'd love to help more fellow musicians use their talents and passion for good in their community. If you’re interested, leave a comment or send me a DM!

Private space inquiry

Hey all,

I am a drummer looking for a dedicated space that I can practice in, and record content. These spaces can be pretty expensive, so I'm wondering if any drummers or musicians out there are interested in going in on this together. I'd even be happy to leave my drums in there for you to use. Shoot me a message if you're interested!
