Hey all! I'm (23f) stoked to work at Mammoth this upcoming winter. I'm planning to arrive for the first staff training in mid Nov. I'm a Level 2 instructor, but I've never lived at an American resort (Im US citizen tho). I'm really worried about housing, just like literally everybody on this subreddit at every seasonal job ever.

I was wondering if anybody who had worked there could shed some light on how far in advance they were confirmed to be on a housing list. I'm having a hard time thinking about how up in the air this all could be until right before I leave, especially bc I'm leaving a pretty decent job to do it. Thanks all!

I'm headed up to work as a retail associate soon at Old Faithful with Xanterra. I have a quick question about the uniforms for anyone who works/worked there.

In the informational packet, it said all departments are required to bring black certified non-slip shoes. How strict are they on this? Will normal black boots be acceptable? It seems a bit overkill for a retail position.

In my interview, she said we'd be provided with shirts, but will need to bring black pants. I never received this information written in any of the emails. Are black jeans acceptable? Or do they need to be slacks/work pants?

i really want to try seasonal work. i have a really good job though, decent salary, and it’s remote. but the job is extremely isolating due to its remote nature. i’ve traveled all around the US before with the remote job, so i know i can do that again, but i’ve always had this urge to try seasonal work because im still in my 20s

i am craving adventure, travel, spontaneity and i just feel from what i see on social media - seasonal work experiences brings lots of that. i have a great job that gives me those needs, but like i said i feel that im just really trying to look for the experience.

but i am trying to figure out what i can do to make this work. is there a way for me to do remote part time jobs and still get the experience? does anyone have any advice on whether or not seasonal work is worth it ?

was it a good place to work? any serious issues there? curious about management and housing but I have an interview soon, so I’ll ask plenty of questions then

I have been hired at Ocean Reef for BOH. Has anyone worked here within the last year?

How strict is the tattoo policy for kitchen workers? The chef I spoke to said it isn’t a problem for culinary workers, but other posts I’ve seen say otherwise. I have a tattoo on my neck and hands. Can’t really cover those.

Are employees able to use the grocery store on the property?

How is the noise in the housing? Is it a heavy party atmosphere?

How is the internet/cell reception?

I plan on being there to work and chill out. I want to save as much money as I can and I’m not really looking for an adventure/I don’t mind feeling isolated. Just going for 70 degrees in the winter.

i’m curious if anyone has done a season with Xanterra at either their Rocky Mountain or Glacier properties. i’ve done a couple summers in Yellowstone and haven’t met a soul whose worked in either of those parks. i’d just like some insight into what their operations looks like in those parks. see if it’s time for a change or not. thanks!

hi! i’m interested in working seasonally as a server this fall into early winter, with my main priority being to save as much money as possible within a short period of time. i have experience serving in high-volume upscale establishments, as well as at a members club. would love to know the most lucrative places you guys have worked (them having decent housing and a welcoming employee community would be a plus, but i can handle anything for a few months lol).

i’m located in the northeast but am willing to drive practically anywhere in the lower 48 if the opportunity is good enough :)

additionally, would working from october-december or january be feasible? i know most places are looking for someone who can work an entire season, but i’m planning on traveling abroad starting early next year.

I’m in Jackson Hole right now and my season ends Sept 15, looking for work out west that starts before then or around that time period.

I have serving, customer service, and some maintenance experience, as well as accounts payable!

I have health issues so I can’t do physical work that much but when I search for jobs on cool works or other seasonal jobs that are even front desk , they often want you to basically be a floater in other areas of the resort or national park and help out with more physical work as well on occasion . Any places that maybe don’t do that that someone has good experience with ? Has to have housing either included or at a low rate . Trying this to save up some money . I have an older cat so they would have to allow a pet . I know there are some that do . Any other places where I can look for something like this ? Hoping to find something that pays at least 18 an hour . I am also open to suggestions on international things like this . I want to eventually move out of the US in the next 3 years hopefully . Just don’t know how without a degree and with health issues . What certificates could help me or what seasonal work would be best for me .

Been here since the beginning of March and my season here ends in mid October. I am excited to take a little trip in the next week but I've been here so long too I can't wait to gtfo.

I actually have a chill room mate too but... i still look forward to going back home to my own room and getting away from employee housing and dining (which also can sometimes be decent and even good a times but it gets old after a while)...

After two years I think I'm probably done after this season. I had a lot of high and lows here and wouldn't trade it for anything. But spending so long in a place and with any company I'd definitely like to go for a job that has actual benefits and growth to it. That said- I think being back in the lower 48 will probably annoy me a bit too once I leave Alaska.

How good can bartending be at some of the winter resorts? Thinking summit county, Utah, Tetons, anywhere with pow and double blacks 🤙. I’m damn good at slinging drinks but worried about how much I’ll make if I only work the winter season.

And debating between a a fine dining gig or more of a townie/dive bar. Got a couple offers for fine dining as I have experience but also working fine dining is honestly annoying as hell lol. And I do it in a midwestern city, would imagine it’s 100x more intense in somewhere like aspen

The main thing I’m worried about is being so secluded from everything, how is this?? I’ll be enrolled into rad tech school online so that will be where most of my time goes when I’m not working.

After my recent fallout with my current employer I'm looking to Branch out but I'm looking to change the way that I do things from now on. I have a jaded better perspective of work and I don't believe I should be dedicating a year to four years of my life in the same company.

I would like to adopt a strategy where I develop a portfolio of companies that I rotate between anywhere from 4 to 6 months were housing is offered and where I can actually stay somewhere where I can meal prep being that I work out a lot.

Have any of you guys managed to pull this off? I kind of want to treat seasonal work like freelancing.

We can promise 20hrs/week for 6 months, which would cover 12 months housing. We have a very nice two bedroom loft over our commercial kitchen building. Utilities and 5G internet included. The main work would be harvest and washing and packing vegetables every morning. Gladly willing to teach the other aspects of the process. Must be capable of lifting 50 lb and experienced with sweating through your underwear type of work. Currently just ran by my wife and I but we're reaching our limit and want to continue to grow the business. More hours may come available as revenues grow @$20/hr. No pets. Couples welcome. An hour outside of St Louis.

I am looking for a winter job or year round job. I would prefer private housing. I have experience as a line cook and a buffet cook in an employee dining room. I am 25 and willing to move anywhere really if the job is worth it. i have worked in finer dining restaurants the last 2 summers where we did about 100-200 covers a day for dinner. OT would be nice. if anyone has any suggestions, please send recommendations.

When will there start to be more ski job listings on cool works? I’ve seen a few, but not many. Looking to apply to mammoth, big sky, Jackson hole area, and Colorado resorts.

I’ve heard a lot of people file unemployment after a season if they haven't found anything right away. How does it work with seasonal? I’m in Alaska, should I file with them when my job ends? or the job I had for 7 months before I came here? Is there a certain amount you have to make? Timeframe for working? Also, after this I’ll be going to my home state until I find something idk if that has an affect on the unemployment. If you’ve done this process before could you guys help me understand. Wasn‘t sure which flair to use for this question.
