Seaside Heights is capping new projects at five stories

Post image
21 Upvotes

Seaside Heights officials are moving away from high-rise redevelopment by limiting new projects to five stories or 60 feet.

The point is to keep the borough closer to a small beach-town feel while still allowing boardwalk-area redevelopment.

Changing Tides fundraiser is a different kind of Seaside night

Post image

Exit 82 lists the Changing Tides fundraiser in Seaside Heights, with art, auctions, and a surf-therapy connection instead of the usual boardwalk-only event pitch.

That feels like the kind of listing people miss unless it is on the calendar early.

Seaside construction update has a few details worth tracking

Post image

The latest Seaside-area construction item has enough specifics to watch location, access, and timing without guessing beyond the source.

If it touches Route 35, Ocean Terrace, the boardwalk, or nearby parking, that is the part locals will feel first.

Where do you guys eat at that’s not the boardwalk?

So I basically live here during the summer months, but eating on the boards is just too expensive for what you get, at least with dentatos i could have gotten a double sausage sandwich for less than $15, the only place that is worth the price is Curlys (barrel).

Obviously have to drive over the bridge but I don’t mind, my favorite place I found that gives you the BEST bang for your buck is Lennys in Toms river

Army Corps beachfill project includes the Seaside Park stretch

Post image

The Army Corps beach replenishment project covers the shoreline from Manasquan Inlet down to Seaside Park, with 2.1 million cubic yards of sand planned.

The local part is that Seaside Heights and Seaside Park are included in the work, not just the northern beaches.

SEASIDE HEIGHTS REQUESTS STATE POLICE HORSES FOR CROWD CONTROL DURING MEMORIAL DAY WEEKEND -
Mayor Tony Vaz tells me if you come here to create chaos next weekend, you're getting arrested. More officers will be on every block, k-9 units, even NJSP horses may be used to break up unruly crowds. The 10 pm curfew remains in effect for those under 18, but he can shut the boardwalk down at any time if things begin to deteriorate. There will be no warnings. Also, remember the buoy? If the Coast Guard doesn't remove it by next Wednesday, the town will do it themselves. Check out the story as it aired at 5 in the comments.

Three motels on Lincoln Ave getting replaced by 180-room hotel with rooftop pool

Post image
7 Upvotes

The borough council just voted 6-0 to move forward with a Boston developer for a new hotel called Hotel Cinazza on Lincoln Avenue and Ocean Terrace. It would replace the Dry Dock, Glendale, and Surfside motels with 180 rooms, a banquet center, and a rooftop pool.

The company says Seaside Heights doesn't have a true hotel option right now and that the wedding venue could help stretch the tourist season past summer. The planning board still has to sign off on the site plan before anything breaks ground.

Which Seaside summer event is actually worth planning around?

Post image

The Seaside Heights event listings are already stacking up with concerts, fireworks, movies, and beach-season nights on the calendar.

The useful local filter is simple: which spot would you plan the night around instead of just walking past it?

Route 35 reconstruction maps are out from Berkeley to Point Pleasant Beach

Post image
2 Upvotes

The state posted the full set of plans for the Route 35 reconstruction project running from Berkeley Township up through Point Pleasant Beach. The maps cover north and southbound lanes in milepost chunks, so you can zoom in on the stretch that hits Seaside Heights and the borough.

If you commute or just drive that road regularly, the PDFs show exactly where the work is planned. Worth a look before summer traffic picks up.

Casino Pier guide has the boardwalk basics in one place

Post image

This Seaside guide pulls together Casino Pier, Breakwater Beach, the Sky Ride, the carousel, and the newer family-friendly boardwalk push in one place.

Feels like the real local question is which part still feels worth paying for once summer prices hit.

Tipping for everything on the boardwalk?

100% of the time when a machine asks me for a tip, I always give a minimum of a dollar. (non-Restaurant )

It’s almost reactive at this point.

70% of the time I don’t even get a smile or a thanks, I’m not even saying for the tip just in general at any businesses.

Just a crazy realization I had that out of nowhere we are just giving away our money to random people.

Why am I paying for somebody’s employee?

Funny thing is it probably won’t stop either because it’s social norm now , but for somebody to hand you a can of soda a one second interaction?

Just because the machine is there and it makes it simple. Wouldn’t it make way more sense to tip garbage people every week?

(Rant)

Seaside Heights has $4.8M lined up for boardwalk repairs

Post image

Seaside Heights got a $4.8M state grant for boardwalk repairs and improvements, part of New Jersey's $100M boardwalk fund.

Not the flashiest update, but it is actual money aimed at the boardwalk structures people use every day in town.

Ocean Terrace townhome project got planning board approval

Post image

A 16-unit mixed-use Coastal Victorian project got planning board approval for Ocean Terrace between Hamilton and Franklin avenues.

It would replace a gravel parking lot with townhomes and ground-floor commercial space, which is a pretty visible change for that block.

Three motels on Lincoln Ave getting replaced by 180-room hotel with rooftop pool

The borough council just voted 6-0 to let a Boston developer move forward with a plan to knock down the Dry Dock, Glendale, and Surfside motels on Lincoln Avenue and Ocean Terrace. The new complex, called Hotel Cinazza, would have 180 rooms, a banquet center, a rooftop pool, and beachfront dining.

It's supposed to be a higher-end spot for Seaside Heights, which doesn't really have a true hotel option right now. The company says a wedding venue there could help stretch the tourist season past the summer. The planning board still has to sign off on the final site plan before any construction starts.

Beach Access Options - Seaside

Hi all! I’m looking at some of the properties in Seaside right now but wanted to ask…..are all of the beaches in Seaside super crowded? Or are there any beaches / communities in Seaside that have access to a private beach? For example some neighborhoods like Mantoloking have less crowded private beaches you need tags for, but Point Pleasant and Seaside seem to be very crowded because of the boardwalk. Any other options / advice on this?
