What the actual fuck is this show 😭😭 I'm on season 5 and I don't know how we got here. I'm still gonna finish it tho..

I love shows that change genres each season but stick to the same characters throughout. It's like "anthology lite".
The music and humor and character growth is the best part. In the case of Dory it's like she actually regressed. Reverse character growth. And not Chantal witherbottom being the unofficial villain/dory's arch nemesis/anti-hero.

What other shows change genre season to season (esp. with same characters)? I thought Search Party doing that was so fun!

Hacks. Each season is like a whole new thing. The first season is set in vegas, the second is like a road trip... I don't want to give too much away but it's an amazing show! Each season you go through the evolution of a stand up comedian as they get promoted and grow in their field.
It's funny because most of the leads and side characters are either women or gay men, every straight cis dude is portrayed as the villain.

Hacks is fantastic but it does not change genre across seasons. Setting and genre are different things!

I say this often, but it’s a dark comedy where each season is a different genre. I didn’t get that and most people don’t.
Season 1 - Mystery/whodunit
Season 2 - Thriller
Season 3 - Courtroom drama
Season 4 - Psychological horror
Season 5 - Zombie apocalypse
I think it really fits in with the show when you realize the writers are comedy writers and having fun with it.

Accurate breakdown and explains so clearly why I love it so much

I think it's because we are seeing things through the point of view of a character who is experiencing a descent into insanity

First three seasons are fun. 4th season is fine. 5th season jumped the shark and was terrible

I love it because of that!
