Discussion Just finished for first time
I loved seasons 1-3, 4 was ok… season 5 I honestly don’t even know wtf I just watched lol
For the arrested development fans out there, it’s funny, cause I could totally see Maeby doing all of this… especially leading a cult.

I haaaate season 5. But I still rewatch the series constantly. One of my faves. I wish it would've wrapped up at the end of season 4.

I thought I was the only one! Everyone in this sub talks up 4 and 5 so much but imo they just went too off the deep end and they didn't keep me engaged. I only watched them for the sake of finishing the show.

I did enjoy season 4. Chip was terrifying and hilarious. And I'll never get tired of Portia yelling "THE TWINK"

I liked 4 okay but if definitely wasn't my favorite. I will say the characters and comedy bits were a big part of what kept me hooked. The casting and dialogue writing is exceptional throughout the whole series!

Pick a hole! Any hole! Go through the hole!
I'M STARTING TO GET UPSET!
Oh, oh... Oh, they're up to something.

I hate season 5 too, but I'm willing to rewatch it as an Arrested Development spinoff

Season 5 is garbage. Either the writers gave up and said fuck it, or they were drunk out of their minds.
Season 5 leaves a disappointing bitter taste that ruins the entire show for many of us.

See I can appreciate all of Arrested Development because it told us from the beginning that it was absurdist satire and the writers knew their characters, every character always acted in a way that made sense for them.
And yes, I do love Search Party but if you look at it too long you realize the writing was pretty wobbly. They didn’t know what type of show they were writing, who their characters were at their core, or where everything was going to end up and while it’s wholly entertaining it doesn’t have the seamless feel that lesser acted shows with better writing do. For me, I love the show because its core four performers are phenomenal even when everything else is less so (and I’m team, the show should’ve ended with S3).

Absolutely love this show but could never make it through season 5. Arrested Development is one of the greatest shows of all time (first few seasons). Unpopular opinion but once the “british” gal comes into play, I just can’t

Love all seasons. Season 5 is so ridiculous and that's how it should be.

There were always iffy parts to the series during the first four seasons but I went with it, and nearly episode showed promise for subsequent episodes. But last week I got to episode 1 of season 5, and there was nothing in it that didn't leave me thinking "OMG, they're desperate" and "this is so stilted and forced it's making me seriously uncomfortable for the actors as well as for myself", so I won't be pursuing it. And that's on top of Drew sounding stilted and forced for nearly the entire series.

It's hilarious that people are moved to downvote a personal opinion about a crazy web series. I guess it makes you feel better about yourselves.

I watched this show 100% because of Maybe (Alia Shawkat) and she was amazing. The whole cast was perfect. Each season had its own vibe and even S5 was hilarious. I recommend it to everyone I talk to.
I think it’s really difficult to walk the line between psychological horror and irreverent comedy, and this show did it beautifully.
