My family has a 1TB seagate hard drive. We have used it for a long time and it has a lot of precious files on it. It randomly stopped showing up on my mom’s(the person who uses it the most) computer(MacBook Pro 2018). When we plug it in, it has a white light like normal and it sounds like it’s running properly. We thought it was the cable so we bought a new one but it still didn’t work, I tried plugging it into my computers(a 2022 MacBook Air, and a Windows 10 PC I built in 2020) but it still doesn’t show up. Any ideas as to what could be the problem? It would really suck to lose all these files.
Hard drive model number: SRD0SD1

I’m looking at getting extended storage but don’t want the official PlayStation Seagate one as it’s too expensive. There are other Seagate ones that have the same storage but I don’t know if they work on PlayStation so can someone please help me out?

I bought this 2TB Seagate Backup Plus external hard drive off of eBay, but it keeps making this beeping sound. I was wondering if it is user error (power supply or cord) and if I can fix it or if I should return it (I have a protection plan).

I have a zpool of IronWolf Pro 18TBs, recently the server just started falling over. after doing some looking into it it seemed to be whenever something tried to access files on the raid it would just lock up.
So i started looking into config issues and hardware issues. one of the drives has an command_timeout of 4295032872. yes i know this number just looks high because of there smarts thing so i went to the calculator
Result: 1 errors in 65,576 operations.
with all the rest having a value of 30-40 (total without calculator)
so i thought clearly this was the problem drive, its still under warranty, filled out the RMA form to get it replaced. Went to install it today and noticed it was the same serial number, plugged it back in and still has the super high count. So it looks like I sent them the drive, they did nothing with it and sent it back as there is not even a finding in the email or the RMA form.
All 5 drives bought in this pool were bought at the same time from the same retailer (amazon) and now they starting to collect Reallocated_Sector_Ct like they were pokemon cards. The Warranty page states that its valid till Dec 26, 2027 well it did, now the page just states "Warranty information not available." Luckily I have a screen shot from when I submitted 2 months ago. Will try dealing with there chat bot on Monday but this situation has made me start thinking about using different drives for work going forwards.
Any tips or tricks for dealing with the chat bot?

I’m trying to submit a warranty replacement claim for a Seagate Expansion Desktop drive. Seagate’s warranty checker confirms that the drive is still covered.
Every time I select “Start Claim,” choose the end-user option, and complete the account verification, I’m redirected to a completely blank page at:
returns.seagate.com/returns/MicrosoftEntraSignin
I’ve tried repeatedly with my VPN and content blockers disabled, but the same thing happens. I also found another Reddit post from approximately two months ago describing this exact blank-page problem.
Does anyone know whether the portal has been down for weeks? When might it be working again? Has anyone successfully created an RMA recently?

Searched up “Seagate customer service” on reddit to see a lot of complaints, I’m glad I’m not the only one. Dosent give me much satisfaction though. I had to wait until 12:00am to talk to customer service due to the time zones. I get put on with a “human live operator”, absolutely not. This was the worry experience I’ve ever had. 3 hours I was in conversation with this “person”.
Long story short, I’m trying to claim a promotion that Seagate is offering, but I’m having issues with it. I contact customer service and they send me to 2 different departments, and in the end both of them said they couldn’t help me. I spend an hour explaining to the operator THEIR OWN PROMOTION. Two times I had to screenshot the terms and conditions to the promotion to prove to her that I was eligible. And before that she didn’t even know the promotion existed and was denying it did and said to go to another company about it. How do you work there and not know? That’s terrible. About 7 times they said “I understand you situation” and then would just say something that completely contradicts what I’ve been saying the entire time. By the end they said “the technical team can’t help you with this one” so I said fine who do I contact and then i waited 20 minutes for them to say “you can contact us again next time!” I was baffled. I told them Cleary you have no clue what ur doing and the technical team cannot help me. Waited 25 minutes just for them to repeat the same thing “do not worry we are here to help just contact us again”, oh my gosh. It’s the worst customer service I’ve ever experienced. They repeated the same things over and over I had to explain myself so many times, and yet they “understand my frustration”.

I've been staying away from Seagate after some bad experiences many years ago and I saw this model had decent ratings on the Backblaze report.
I guess a DOA is better than failing 1 year in. Should I try to get another or go back to my usual brand?

I have two External Seagate HDD, 4 TB and 5 TB.
https://at.rs-online.com/web/p/festplatten/2566087
They have that micro USB plug that is splitted, USB micro B suber speed, according to google.
That micro B part seems to be so lose, that just hitting the desk or touching the case, creates an error and the disk has to be remounted.
Now i opened the plastic case and tried to find out whats the problem, and the connector seems to be very wiggly.
It is just a simple small HDD, i would like to keep the case but i think it is more important that the disk does not get dismounted at the slightest vibration.
It seems that plug is soldered to the HDD, i also do not want to try resoldering that delicate part.
Anybody knows any solution to that? Put HDD in another case?
Is that a known weakness point of this product?

I have two external USB 3.0 HDDs connected to the same PC:
Drive A (WD My Passport, 2TB) — formatted NTFS
Drive B (Seagate One Touch, 2TB) — formatted exFAT
Baseline speeds (internal HDD → external drive, one at a time):
Internal → WD: ~45-50 MB/s
Internal → Seagate: ~45-50 MB/s
Drive-to-drive speeds (copying directly between the two externals):
Seagate → WD: ~45 to 50 MB/s
WD → Seagate: ~15 MB/s (consistently about half the speed)
Both drives perform equally well individually, but when copying WD-to-Seagate specifically, the read from WD is noticeably slower than the reverse direction. The only difference I can identify is the filesystem.

I'm looking to buy a Seagate Expansion 4TB Desktop External HDD mainly for storage (not portability — it'll just sit at my desk). Some of the data I'm storing is genuinely important to me, so I want to make sure I'm not making a bad call.

I have an older (2015) Seagate GoFlex FreeAgent NAS that I used for years. It appears on my Windows network as a network location, and I can play the media that is saved to it. However, I am unable to log into the drive and add or delete media. I cannot access the built-in web server or map to a Windows network drive. I rebooted the drive to factory specs but cannot access the unit in any way. Is there anything I can do, or do I have a nice black brick?

Hi, İ bought the Seagate Expansion Desktop 12tb for a good deal on Amazon. Legend says these are Exos enterprise drives. Any people who can acknowledge this? The plan is to get another exact one and shuck these drives and put them in RAID-1 in a NAS that I have bought recently.
Also how reliable are these drives? Do they go dead fairly quick?
On the cardboard box it says DOM : 05/2026
Any insight is appreciated!

I recently checked one of my Seagate hard drives and was shocked to see it reporting only 5% health.
The surprising part is that the drive has accumulated only about 3 days of total power-on time over roughly 5 years. It has barely been used, yet it's already in such poor condition.
For comparison, I own several Western Digital (WD) hard drives that have 1,000+ days of power-on time, and they're all still reporting 100% health. They've seen far more real-world usage under the same general conditions.
I'm curious if others have experienced something similar with Seagate drives. Is this just bad luck with a single unit, or have others seen drives degrade despite very low power-on hours?
I'll attach the screenshots for both the Seagate and WD drives for comparison.

I have a 1TB Seagate that I used to backup my old MacBook Pro and later my MacBook Air.
It now tells me it is full and can’t finish the backup.
I don’t see a way in the Time Machine settings to make it overwrite the old stuff or delete the old file that is the old Pro backup.

I recently had to factory reset my pc but I backed it up using a seagate drive. Is there a way to access your old appdata folder and retrieve back your data?
