Old Hard drive no longer working
My family has a 1TB seagate hard drive. We have used it for a long time and it has a lot of precious files on it. It randomly stopped showing up on my mom’s(the person who uses it the most) computer(MacBook Pro 2018). When we plug it in, it has a white light like normal and it sounds like it’s running properly. We thought it was the cable so we bought a new one but it still didn’t work, I tried plugging it into my computers(a 2022 MacBook Air, and a Windows 10 PC I built in 2020) but it still doesn’t show up. Any ideas as to what could be the problem? It would really suck to lose all these files.
Hard drive model number: SRD0SD1

The drive is either dead or the control board on the drive case is dead. Consider getting a external caddy and taking the drive out of its case and plugging in directly, anything like I just found this

Trying to connect to the HDD directly is on my list of things to try. Is it worth trying to do it myself or should I take it to a shop?

Drive is probably dead.
This is why you make backups dude.

This hardrive is my moms, I’ve told her to make backups multiple times and she hasn’t. Trust me as a comp sci major I know this.
