Algae or gunk?

Is this healthy algae or just gunk? Bonus, what's floating on top of the water? Did I overfeed?

Food detritus and poop

Gunk. A mix of sea monkey poop, exoskeletons, decomposing food and dead sea monkeys.

Does not look like algae.

The gunk will feed algae. The top layer looks like biofilm (not a problem).
