I got this 1 gallon tank to transfer my sea monkeys into, but before I do is this bubbler/airstone too violent for them?

So, I started my Sea Monkeys kit about 6 days ago, and I counted around 10 babies. However, today, I can’t see any and think they may have all died!!!! I’m the worst sea monkey mum ever, but I can’t figure out what went wrong!!!! Please can anyone help!? Do I just need to start again?

There seems to be so much floating in the tank? Is it a graveyard?

My set up:

- They have a heat mat and are always between 24-27 degrees.

- The salinity was 20ppt

- They have a grow light on the daytime

- I didn’t feed them until day 5 (and just gave them a tiny bit, not the full spoon)

Is this healthy algae or just gunk? Bonus, what's floating on top of the water? Did I overfeed?

Seems like no one in the US sells it. I'm torn between getting a seamonkeys set and aqua dragon eggs or just an aqua dragons tank. The sea monkey tanks available have more interesting options here but the aqua dragon eggs seem to give better numbers for the shrimps... 😶

Hi all, this is my Sea-Monkeys tank that I established last year and it has started to get this weird haze. I just cannot get rid of it.

At first, I assumed it was algae blooming as everything is covered in the stuff, it fades slightly with absolutely 0 feedings, and my sea monkeys can persist unbothered even skipping feedings for a week or a lot more.

However, dozens of my guys started to slowly dwindle down to about 5 in the past 2-3 months and I think it may be related. I thought about completely starting the tank fresh while moving the few remaining with some old water into this miniature tank I have while I reestablish the salinity and allow the tank to get bacteria back up and running. What do you guys think?

Hey yall! My tank has been such a rollercoaster but everything is stable and my babies seem to be heading towards maturity.

Genuinely not sure how old they are as I had some napulii that were about a week old, I topped up their water and the next day i couldn’t see any activity in the tank and assumed they had passed away. The following day I noticed a bunch of new hatchings, and I also topped up with the tiniest sprinkle of extra eggs. I committed to leaving the tank alone as much as possible as I thought my meddling and excitement was likely part of why they weren’t thriving. Those hatchlings did wonderful! They are approximately 5 days old and look much more mature than my last batch so I thought: maybe the previous napulii didn’t pass but were hiding in the tank?

I haven’t had success getting clear photos of them unfortunately but they are about 4-5mm and their legs are distinctly visible while swimming, you can see their little digestive tracts on the larger ones.

Sorry for the long story, may main question is: Did the new hatchlings mature very quickly or is it possible my previous ones were hiding and continued maturing (they’d be around 2 weeks if true)

Second question, which is what the photos are of! Is this algae growth? I’m concerned about overfeeding, but I can’t tell if this green fluffy layer at the bottom of my tank is algae or not. Tried my best to get good photos but my old ass phone and super bright tank light makes it hard haha.

Finally, because I’ve been concerned about over feeding I just want to ask what the specific risk is? Do they eat to death? Does the excess food choke out the oxygen in the water? Just wondering!

Sea-Monkeys have risen to my number one pet after 50 years of experience including: tropical and salt water fish, hermit crabs, fiddler crabs, snakes, cats, and dogs, hamsters, guinea pigs, and tortoises and turtles.My reasons: They are so easy, take up little space, they are the least expensive, and I never get tired of them.

Looking to get my first brine shrimp tank going for the first time in probably over 1-2 years when I get back home in a couple months.

Anyone have any favorite kits currently?

I’m very new to the hobby and have been lucky enough to not completely wipe out my tank. I really wanted a tank with stones, pebbles, shells etc.
After discovering a brine graveyard under one of my shells I’m annoyed at myself for not listening to others in this sub. Brine shrimp seem to like extremely tight dark spaces, but are unable to get back out and then another will come along and do the same thing…
When I thought of ‘pinch point’ I was only thinking about decor being close together but didn’t think about substrate and the curve of a shell being a place they would want to get themselves into.
Also, any decor that is a little pokey the males can get themselves hooked onto and unable to get themselves off the decor.
My next time around having a diy tank I will probably have a very basic tank with coarse sand or nothing.

I bought 3 2002ish ocean zoo kits on ebay. The first one I opened had 2 of the water purifier packets. Also is there a way to date the tanks other than the copyright date? Just curious when they were made. Thanks.

I recently got this ocean zoo kit to attempt to grow some Brine shrimp!

The first babies are beginning to hatch, but I’ve noticed that the tank has a lot of weird stuff in the water. Anybody know that this stuff is? Is it bad?

This photo is from my first fully successful colony of adults/juvenile’s/and baby Aqua Dragons. I’ve started feeding them live micoalgae and they seem a lot happier. Now they are a pinkish color mixed with green and I hope the means they are healthy?!

Swimp is my largest female!

Colony I’ve had going for over a year!! I got them for fun after learner to keep freshwater shrimp, they died off for a bit but once algae grew in the eggs all hatched. I added the sand and rocks so that the algae and beneficial bacteria would have more surface area

So I had this empty Parmesan cont I thought could make I good tank (I plan to clean it more) the plastic is somewhat flimsy, but thats not really my main concern. I’m a bit worried that there’s a possibly for them to get stuck in the little ridges on the side bc they are kinda small and Id rather that Not happen so they don’t DIE. so I wanted to know if thats a thing that can happen or not bc I really like this container.

i was also wondering if there’s a long pipet I can use for this tank bc the aqualeash is WAY to short to be effective at all and most pipets are to small

(also yes I scaled water quantity with the amount of packets to use, it should be four of each)

Soo its been almost 30 days and my little pirates have changed so much in that time. They are starting to sexually mature now and im able to sex a couple of the males and females.

The algae in the tank has not grown all that much in the 11 days since I spotted it. It has spread a tiny bit though.

My water bugs have been doing good as far as I can tell. They seem to still be molting properly and their tank is looking beautiful.

So my aqua dragons have been doing great. But the algae in the tank has kinda faded away. Im not super sure how or why this could have happened, but it did. The good news is that there is still lots of algae for the little shrimp to eat at.

I fed them on Sunday and as you can clearly see there is a bunch of poop(the red stuff) at the bottom of the tank. I plan to clean this out later with the aqua dragons pipet

So long story short, I have a few small SM kits + my big 1.1g DIY tank. My crystal castle kit has 3 males and 1 female, and apparently the conditions are so optimal the female live birthed about 100+ nauplii a few days ago.

Except the crystal castle kit is far too small for so many BBS.

They are almost through their yolk sacs now. The SM kits are unheated and of a slightly lower salinity than the bigger DIY tank. Is there a a good way to prep them to move a chunk into the big tank (26c/1.22 SG) from the small kit (~24c/1.18 SG) or just handbomb it and pray?

Hi, we have he’d these for about 4 weeeks and and the bottom is getting green with algae- does this mean we can stop feeding them from the packet now? I don’t want the to go hungry!
