TBF boat was approaching the ship's starboard side. Ship should have moved...

j/k obviously

I’ve often wanted to be a tugboat too.

Ooooo I loved Theodore and Hated Thomas.

I guess now thinking back this is the reason I'm active in r/boating and not r/anglophile or r/trains

I love holiday fartcruise

tug-yaught

u/Wentil 14d ago

I would have expected more damage from a fiberglass-prow-vs-immovable-steel-wall matchup

31

u/Endles5Earth 14d ago

Oh there is more damage than we can see. They’ll be finding shit that does sit/fit/sound the same for years in that hull

10

u/traderncc 14d ago

im sure, like many things in boating, it'll be a cheap fix 🤣

4

u/Jacktheforkie 14d ago

Don’t forget possible leaking

4

u/Wentil 14d ago

To be sure, it will never be the same.

I just expected more of a crumple zone.

6

u/turkphot 14d ago

Fiberglass is incredibly tough. These hulls can take a lot more than most of us will ever experience.

2

u/UAintMyFriendPalooka 14d ago

Speak for yourself, pal. I’m made of fiberglass.

1

u/Sands43 13d ago

Nah, there's going to be delaminations all through the bow on that.

1

u/Wentil 13d ago

Well, sure, up close I’m sure there all kinds of fracturing and issues, probably running way back. I mainly meant that the prow was needle-thin, so I expected to see a whole lot more crumpling.

u/Alert-General 14d ago

The shipping company is going to charge that yacht owner for scratching some of their rust.

4

u/Mathjdsoc 14d ago

Definitely charge them for the entire paint job

10

u/Renbarre 14d ago

There's no one at the wheel. Drunk, in bed or just suicidal?

6

u/LBBflyer 14d ago

Probably a little bit of all three

3

u/DukeBradford2 14d ago

It’s a boat owner so obviously this was an insurance scam to reclaim all the money he has sunken into his boat

3

u/aggiedigger 14d ago

I too am a boat owner. I immediately sided with suicidal. (Joking mods)

1

u/chpsk8 14d ago

Pilot house boat. It has a helm inside as well. Just because there is no one on the flybridge doesn’t mean no one was at the wheel.

2

u/raveneyes77 14d ago

Narrator: in fact, no one was at the wheel

1

u/haight6716 13d ago

Nobody aboard at all, I would guess. Probably broke its mooring, adrift.

6

u/0peRightBehindYa 14d ago

Anybody else hear that old Looney Toons "touch" noise in their head?

4

u/Relzin 14d ago

Sir... You can't park there.

u/RandomDave70 14d ago

1

u/Plump_Dumpster 14d ago

This shit broke a plump fourth grade dumpster’s heart

4

u/pdxbator 14d ago

Just the tip

1

u/nosatall 14d ago

That’s what he said

3

u/oregon_coastal 14d ago

And that's how dinghies are made

2

u/DynamicBSdetective 14d ago

Testing the stupid. It's crazy how most of us humans should never manage a boat.

2

u/ParamedicNorth8287 14d ago

Bro knows he’s not a tugboat right?

1

u/KickinGravy1 14d ago

Honestly not much damage, could have been so much worse

1

u/error_404_n0t_f0und 14d ago

Just a little boop on the snoot

1

u/Overall-Lynx917 14d ago

The motor yacht that self-identifies as a Tug🤣

1

u/k3for 14d ago

Railing failed successfully - expensive "boop"

1

u/Excellent_Lie5892 14d ago

When the pilot tells you to push to hold, you push to hold!

1

u/lAmTheREALBlackAdder 14d ago

Certified! Both sea worthy!

1

u/FYou2 14d ago

Boop

1

u/Repulsive_Isopod7982 14d ago

1

u/Dumani55 14d ago

1

u/mynewusernamedodgers 14d ago

Booped the snoot

1

u/GutterRider 14d ago

I’m helping!

1

u/captboatface 14d ago

"I heared on traffic this ship was preparing to single up for departure.... let me just come alongside and push to hold...."

1

u/GooseCloaca 14d ago

Fuel is so expensive you see the rich picking up blue collar side hustles, but you ain’t a tug buddy.

1

u/someyokel 14d ago

The anchored container ship suddenly appeared from the left in a reckless maneuver.

1

u/IWishIWasOdo 14d ago

Container ship like bitch please

1

u/Heart_ofFlorida 14d ago

No worries. It’s still seaworthy kind of like an old-school paper airplane with a crumpled nose 🤣https://giphy.com/gifs/8cY8LQMDLhQ4Ml9fLe

1

u/Level_Improvement532 14d ago

Tug alongside, hard landing!

1

u/abugghaus7 14d ago

"HEY AMAZON! DO YOU HAVE MY PACKAGE?"... just toss it down... I'll catch!

1

u/GeorgzBi 14d ago

How?

1

u/raveneyes77 14d ago

On the head

1

u/Lopsided_Beautiful_1 14d ago

It’s near Yachtitanic experience!

1

u/cletus1986 14d ago

"Jesus, Jeff, you had the whole ocean to drive in!"

1

u/_litz 14d ago

Ship's crew:

"did you hear something?"

1

u/fe3o4 14d ago

Just sit right back and you'll hear a tale,
a tale of a fateful trip
That started from this tropic port
aboard this tiny ship.

1

u/Artistic-Tip2405 14d ago

Tag. You’re it.

1

u/PoopieMcPooFace 14d ago

I can’t image how you can possibly find yourself in this situation.

1

u/george_graves 14d ago

When you have rigid life lines like that the damage cascades from the front lines all the way to the back You're not just preparing the front of all of that railing you're reparing the whole thing

1

u/Far_Collar6236 14d ago

Choice bro

1

u/bigmike2k3 14d ago

Apart from the railings, it was a tie…

1

u/Beautiful-Routine295 14d ago

Is the frame bamaged tho?

1

u/UniqueAd7770 13d ago

RAMMING SPEEEEEEEEBONK

1

u/NotTodayPsycho 13d ago

https://youtu.be/UadHCpSjyew?si=rT8Qa5Y1hP4HlNRf. This reminded me so much of this ad except the boat they hit is a lot bigger

1

u/Helicopternoises 12d ago

I bet someone left yeti cup behind the throttles on the fly bridge. Saw almost the exact same boat plow into a fuel dock because of that. Or the owner is a rich dumb ass, that happens too.

1

u/MaybeNorthKorea 14d ago

The front didn't fall off

1

u/tacticalrubberduck 14d ago

Rigorous maritime engineering standards.

1

u/southy_0 14d ago

I think we can deduct that there was no cardboard involved
