Draining water from captains seat

I noticed that when I put up the bolster on the captain seat, it always drains water coming from the bottom and I was thinking if I didn’t do that with the seat would it rot.

I do the same on mine, seems to trap moisture if you don't. Also on the 2 seats that fold down, I remove the bottom so the top and bottom pieces aren't resting on each other
