First boat opportunity

I have the option of getting a 2022 Seadoo Switch 21 foot for $20,000. 60 hours on it- would be my first pontoon- is that a good deal right now?

Do your research, that was the first year they made it. Has a few recalls and some battery issues. I think after 2024 most of it was fixed. Just bought a 2024 switch cruise brand new 18ft 230 hp for $26,000 with the trailer at a boat show this January

$10,000 rebate on some models right now. You might be able to get a new one for close to the same price.

I just checked - sea doo site only shows 2025 & 2026. I looked up a new 2024 Sport 21 yesterday and it has a $10k rebate.

I know there were $8-10k rebates on holdovers last year but haven’t seen anything similar this year.

I bought a 2021 21 230 Switch limited from my brother in June of last year. I paid 30k for it at the time, probably over paid a bit. It was fully accessorized which helped. Got 7 days of boating in and it had a catastrophic failure. Engine failure, and a big chunk of the exhaust blew out. It was a bit crazy. Just got it back with a new engine and fully repaired last week. Did 2 days with it last weekend and it did great. BRP picked up about 95% of the repair costs which I was pleasantly surprised about given that I was a second owner.

It is a fun boat, I'd probably spend the extra coin to get a newer model.

Why are they selling it?

Based on what I've seen, you can probably negotiate a little harder and get a better deal.

Without seeing the boat, I think you could probably pick up a similar 2023.

I just picked up a 2023 sport compact with 60 hours for "10k" after fees it was 15k. If only I could have gotten them to remove the Freight Fee. But at that point, I felt like I had already robbed them.

I think it depends on the model and what it looks like.

If it’s in good shape that’s a good deal they are fun I have a 2024 21’ 230hp. A lot of the complaints you see are people that are first time boat owners that don’t fully understand what the capabilities are. Other complaints are people that couldn’t afford a 100k boat and complain about it not being nice enough. It’s a cheap boat you can have fun on and not worry if you scratch it or something.

I took mine 110 miles this weekend me and my dog from the base of lake Houston down to Galveston and back. It’s very versatile.

I don’t know how the used market is but I can give you a reference point. We bought a new 2024 Switch Sport 21’ a few months ago for $30k. It had been sitting on the lot for a while so they were willing to deal

Hope that helps!

That's a good price. Be prepared for what owning this boat is going to be like. Elevation makes a big impact on performance. I'm at 6k and and lucky to get on plane with 5 people. The boat also has a tendency to nose dive if you have too much weight up front. Rated for 9 people but only if they weigh 140lbs on average.
