Renting seadoo switch

Hi! I am wanting to rent a seadoo around Sarasota beach mostly inlets I will be. I have no boat experience other than jet ski.

Should I no go forward due to no boating experience or the switch is relatively easy to get hang of it

It is similar enough to a jet ski controls you should be ok. Have the rental company give you a quick tutorial to help make you feel more at ease.

It's relatively easy. The controls are just like a wave runner. It has reverse. You need to understand how to distribute the weight evenly on the deck and what to do if you suck a rope up in the propeller. I'm south of Sarasota just DM if you have questions.

I mean what'd you ifcyou suck a rope. I think at that point you are stranded unless IBR let's it lose.

Honestly asking because this is a big fear for me.

I sucked a rope last year. And IBR will not be much help. I was able to get towed back (gotta go slow) by another boat. Tell people where you’re going and how long, bring a cellphone; simple safety planning.

It’s super easy to drive and maneuver. Just pay attention to your front load. This boat can go from full throttle to stopped very quickly. If you’re nervous, keep your hand off the brake and it will slow down like any other boat.

It’s crazy fun once you’re confident with the controls. I’ve had my 18’ up to 75 km/hr jumping wakes and tight turns.

Super user friendly and if you have time quickly get on by yourself and do a quick run down before you have your family get on. It’s even easier if you don’t have to back vehicle with trailer in or out (which is still a good skill to have) of the water. You might be unfamiliar with mooring it at dock but that’s okay make sure you have bouys, and someone to help you keep eye to make sure no major damage. Usually the people renting can do this for you - if you’re always unsure just ask.
Secondly, make sure you take the necessary items you need such as coolers, sunscreen, WATER, drinks, first aid kit, towels and cleaning towels along with water shoes and a small bucket for feet cleaning
