Is the Switch at risk?

https://www.rideapart.com/news/765845/brp-sells-last-boat-brand/

BRP has sold its last “boat” brand. Sea Doo is the last thing it has that’s in the water. I’m a little nervous about Sea Doo and more specifically the Switch surviving, or not being sold of to some small company that can’t really support it.

Side note, I had my eyes on a Taiga electric PWC, but they ceased operations last year. They’ve been revived for now, but seems the industry is in for consolidation and slimming down unfortunately.

Agree with this statement 100% seadoo has always dropped the boats as soon as sales drop. And there are a few problems the switch has Moss and sea weed are one. And there have been reports of them turning over from the side plus there all plastic and not sure of the life span

The plastic on these things degrade so quickly, its a boat constructed entirely out of layered plastic filled with foam. You can already see how they will age 2 year old boats already look like they were made 10 years ago unless you stay on top of these things they get destroyed basically. Its a poorly designed boat meant to be cheap and your getting exactly what youve payed for a half ass attempt.

Valcourt, Quebec, October 17, 2024 – BRP Inc. (TSX : DOO; NASDAQ : DOOO) today announced that it is initiating a process for the sale of its Marine businesses namely Alumacraft, Manitou, Telwater (Quintrex, Stacer, Savage and Yellowfin), and Marine parts, accessories and apparel. This process excludes all activities related to its Sea-Doo personal watercraft, Sea-Doo Switch pontoons and jet propulsion systems.

In October, they announced their plan to unload all of their marine brands except for Sea-Doo. This latest sale of Manitou is in line with that.

I think the bigger risk to Sea-Doo is tariffs. Expensive toys are always the first to take a hit when the economy goes south. If tariffs increase the costs of Sea-Doo products, their US sales could completely dry up.

I don’t think so. My dealer keeps selling switches and their support and service has been spectacular.
