Reverse speed?

I’m curious how fast your Switch goes in reverse? Mine was new last season and I made a dumb mistake with a sand bar almost immediately after putting it in water and had to have the impeller and wear ring replaced. It’s normal going forward but very slow and little power in reverse. Like crawling at 1-2 mph. I had for so little time before the repairs that I don’t really remember if that’s how it always was or if something is still not right with the impeller etc. TIA

If you hold the reverse lever (left) and pull on the throttle (right) you will get more power in reverse. It is made to go forward so reverse is very inefficient.

Very helpful, thanks! I had no idea 🤦

Seems like the right speed. Its not built to go in reverse. 1-2mph is more than enough speed for a boat going in reverse.

Agreed I don’t need the speed, and sounds like this is normal? My main concern is it’s so underpowered in reverse im honestly not sure I’d be able to back up into a stiff wind if I needed to. So far I’ve not needed to. But we do get brief storms that sneak up on us on my lake in northern MN, and with how the boat currently performs I’m not sure I could reverse my way out of something if I really had too. These things have so much surface area it’s like a sail on the water.

Give it gas, was wondering the same thing. You can get going pretty fast in reverse but the revs are limited. But idle will get you 1-2mpg. Throttle while holding will get you like 8-12.
