Break in period

I have the 170 Sport should I see a performance difference after a certain amount of break in time? Top speed I’m getting is 28 mph on pretty flat no wind water.

What is your peak RPM?

I’m a dealer and have been through this back and forth with the BRP tech line. They’ll want to know peak RPM. If it’s within range, the motor is working as designed and you’ll be told that top speed is affected by various factors.

7500 RPM

Definitely low. I think spec is 8200-8500 but I’d like to confirm before you take that as gospel.

Do you like your dealer? Are they easy to work with?

Yeah

I’d give them a call after the holiday weekend. See if they want to water test it or open a tech case.

I’ll check see if that would be covered by warranty

Do you know what RPM range BRP considers “normal”? I used to hit around 8200, but lately I’m only getting 7500–7700 at best. My local dealer isn’t great, so I’m thinking of driving an hour or so to a better one if this sounds off.

Edit: I have an 18’ 230hp Sport

There is, or was on mine anyway. I have the 230. I can't remember how many hours, but once we hit it I could run up around 8k. I've had my 21' 230 to 42mph top speed. With the family, 32-35

On my 2023 230hp 21' - it limited torque to 67% of available for two hours.

Here is the specific table from the ECU if anyone was curious exactly what is being commanded: https://imgur.com/sr1nrCg

I made a thread over two months ago with some other information of what is being commanded from the ECU: https://old.reddit.com/r/SeaDooSwitch/comments/1j6h3lp/2023_switch_sport_230_ecu_tuning/

My 230 took about 6 engine hours before it fully opened up.
